Bear School Astartes

After applying a restrained power and delivering a decisive strike aiming for the brain, the muscles of the Terror Tyrannosaurus, as if stimulated by drugs, gradually slackened.

Its heavy and massive body already had two legs sunk into the ruins of an elven relic.

Now, the entire elongated body stretched out from the ground’s breach, lying motionless outside.

Just the final convulsions of the Terror Tyrannosaurus’s muscles before death inflicted severe damage upon these elven ruins.

Stone pillars and stone block surfaces were crushed and collapsed under the creature’s thrashing, leading to larger collapses.

The acidic saliva dripping from the corners of its mouth also emitted smoke and foam on the ground, making a ’sizzle’ corrosive sound.

The ferocious and crazed aura belonging to the Terror Tyrannosaurus was enough to make every creature in the area flee desperately.

Soon, even the insects’ calls disappeared from this vegetation-rich elven ruin.

Lann bent over and drew his sword, withdrawing [Muddy Stream·Destruction] from the now-relaxed skull of the Terror Tyrannosaurus.

On the broad, gigantic black blade, the sizzling golden electrical currents gradually subsided and dispersed.

”Wait... how did I do that?”

Even now, Lann still didn’t quite understand how he managed to perform the miracle of the [Lightning Sword].

He had only skimmed the story describing this miracle a few times.

Far from the sacred personnel in the Flame World who repeatedly read and comprehend the stories to perform miracles.

More importantly, when he performed the [Lightning Sword], he didn’t have any casting catalysts at hand!

”Non-catalytic spellcasting...” Mentos, understanding Lann’s confusion, said, ”Sir, I think we’ve only seen it a few times in the Flame World as well.”

As it spoke, the biocomputer projected several scenes as memories and evidence, displaying them to the main consciousness.

The [Sunshine Princess] Gwen Aveya, when she still identified as Rosalie, had performed a great miracle of restoration during the battle at the Profound Church.

At that time, she did it with just a raise of a hand.

Another time, it was [Eldest Son of the Sun].

That guy was silent and looked quite stern.

He pursued asceticism, seeking immortality akin to the ancient dragons. As a result, even the God’s armor from the Ancient Era on him became tattered from asceticism and time.

The other small items he had probably had long been destroyed or lost.

But as the first prince of the Fire Gods, his power was no joke.

The time when he shattered half a mountain face with a [Sunshine Spear] was also done with just a raise of a hand.

At that time, he only held a Dragon Hunting Sword Spear as a weapon, which wasn’t a casting catalyst.

But both of them were of the Fire Gods, the Divine Race that discovered, managed, and shared the power of the [Primordial Fire] since the world stabilized.

Sunshine Princess and Eldest Son of the Sun, in terms of bloodline, were undoubtedly at the highest level.

Not to mention that the [Miracle] magic system was supernatural power that worked through telling stories of the divine beings and their believers.

They were protagonists of the stories, so of course, it was much less demanding for them to use it firsthand.

Why was Lann able to do it?

”Perhaps the magic system of [Miracle] can not only be enhanced by practice but also achieved some conveniences through ’permissions’?”

Mentos offered a new hypothesis in the mind.

At the same time, the biocomputer released an image.

It depicted Gwen Aveya, in her guise as the [Mother of Rebirth], with a black veil hanging down, and beneath it, her luscious lips gratefully pressed against Lann’s side face.

Leaving behind a briefly manifest and then disappearing golden lip mark.

”Are you suggesting I’ve been granted conveniences when using [Miracles] because I helped the Sunshine Princess? I can understand that, but...”

The Demon Hunter jumped down from the now still and gradually cooling head of the Terror Tyrannosaurus, but the corner of his mouth twitched.

”Why are you giving me scene replays? Do you think I forgot? And how are you sure this action was to enhance ’permissions’, huh?”

”It’s purely to increase the persuasiveness of the hypothesis, sir. You know I always work meticulously.”

Faced with the main consciousness’s probing full of bad intentions, Mentos responded calmly, maintaining its tone and poise.

At this point, this vast area had no more living creatures; they were all scared away by the aura of the Terror Tyrannosaurus.

And the sound of the Ponta River surging in the valley, due to being in a calm water area and the distance, seemed distant and serene.

In this rugged terrain and dense vegetation concealing the elven ruins in the Ponta River Valley, only occasional falling stone sounds and very gentle water flow sounds remained.

After Lann put away [Muddy Stream·Destruction], he stood on the edge of the ground hole stomped by the Terror Tyrannosaurus, leaning over its body to look down.

The Demon Hunter discovered that the stomp of the Terror Tyrannosaurus had crushed a geothermal spring within the elven relic.

Judging by the style of the architectural ruins, it seems to be an elf bathhouse built in a basement location.

Now, it has been stepped through by a Terror Tyrannosaurus, trapping its two ankles.

Of course, this kind of restriction is something a living Terror Tyrannosaurus can deal with in just two seconds... It just needs to lift its leg to completely demolish the entire basement where the bathhouse is located!

The elf bathhouse boasts solid materials and exquisite hydraulic technology.

Although it’s unclear how long this elf ruin has been abandoned, the bathhouse has always been drawing, storing, and draining water.

Even today you can still see a clear bathing pool, along with a statue that continuously sprays hot water downwards.

It’s not far from the floating port built by Temeria, but located in such a rugged and deep position, it’s estimated that even the people from the port don’t know there’s an elf ruin here.

But at the floating port established in the calm water zone to create a trade town on the Ponta River, there is no peace after nightfall at all.

The Ponta River Valley is hard to establish settlements in due to its terrain, with many monster nests and fierce beasts in the valley.

Veltrest has spent tremendous effort to attract refugees and bankrupt individuals from the mainland, barely sending them here, forming a colonial outpost.

However, around the floating port there still thrives vegetation unsuitable for human habitation, along with snakes, bugs, rats, and beasts that coexist with the plants.

During town construction, people died, leading to the presence of demon spirits and netherworld dogs.

But with the town’s guard stationed at the floating port, and the makeshift fence walls, at least people can sleep soundly after a busy day.

Or grab a drink in a tavern, play some cards, or find a waitress looking to earn some extra money.

Yet tonight, a thunderous and previously unheard roar suddenly echoed throughout the valley!

The sound is filled with madness and brutality, and people can tell it’s from a distance, but even at such a distance, the volume of the roar still shakes the entire valley!

This makes it even more terrifying!

Outside the town, the monsters and beasts that originally lingered outside the human walls now make rustling noises in the bushes, then run towards more distant places without looking back.

Each and every person at the floating port becomes overwhelmed by that tyrannical and wild howl.

Watching the monsters that they usually wish to kill or drive away now fleeing in the direction away from town, but they feel no sense of safety, instead as if being with these familiar, nearby monsters barely offers a sense of security.

Due to the recent threat from the Squirrel Faction, there has been a shortage of work for dock unloaders and water guides, who now crouch with frightened expressions by the windows of their small huts.

With tension and confusion, they watch the serene moonlight of the Ponta River Valley outside and its endlessly flowing river water.

”Did you hear that?”

”What is that... What is that sound?”

”It’s a monster calling! A mega monster! Definitely!” an unloader assertively claims.

”Monster? Have you ever heard of such a monster? This sound is at least two mountain ridges apart!” another worker retorts.

”Then what do you think it is?”

The counter-question causes the other’s words to become uncertain and hesitant.

”Maybe it’s... magic? The Squirrel Faction is in the forest now! The elves know all those evil witchcraft!”

”I’ve been saying all along! We should invite a priest of the Eternal Fire from Novigrad to come here! And bring a holy flame to the floating port! Then all evil will disappear, and we honest folks can live well!”

Rumors and gossip are born from people’s anxious moods, and then spread throughout the entire town.

Households awaken to the distant roars of the Terror Tyrannosaurus, and then nervously, without daring to light their lamps, watch the seemingly normal Ponta River Valley.

The commander of the floating port, Bernard Roldo, is also struck by this terrifying and distant roar, and he quickly summoned the guards.

But he himself is uneasy, unsure of what use this might be.

The chaos at the floating port caused by the Terror Tyrannosaurus’s roar is not within Lann’s range of consideration.

Besides the slowly flowing blood from the Terror Tyrannosaurus’s corpse in the elf ruins, turning from black back to red, there is also a strong rose fragrance.

The elf ruins have a garden, where long periods of neglect have not killed the vitality of these plants.

Instead, a large number of roses have become wild, growing more robust.

Lann feels his Roaring Bear Head Pendant on his neck shake a bit outside the vast roses, estimating there might be some precious flowers infused with chaos magic power within the garden.

Soon, a crackling electric arc first appeared at the breach on the edge of the elf ruins created by the Terror Tyrannosaurus’s rampage.

”Boss! Are you there, meow?”

Rong Buqiu, with a voice as cute as a child’s, loudly calls out, prompting Lann to walk back from the edge of the elf ruins’ garden.

As he walks, he responds: ”Here!”

The sound of the Qilin’s hooves follows the trail, atop it is the Elu Cat stepping on the Ancient Dragon’s head looking around, along with Sachia still holding her half-shoulder.

And behind Sachia, embracing the female warrior in a caring manner, is Margaret.
