Chapter 900: Chapter 882: Shocking Upheaval

The Losric Knight sat on the saddle of his own wyvern, looking down at the endless stream of pilgrims on the bridge below.

As a kingdom responsible for the Fire Transmission Ceremony and the stability of the world, Losric’s representative color was undoubtedly a flame-like deep red.

As the martial backbone of Losric, the Losric Knight Order adorned themselves with red robes over their full plate armor to signify their affiliation.

He was a standard Dragon Cavalry of the Losric Knight Order.

His main weapon was a giant cavalry lance, and he wielded a pure steel tower shield engraved with the diamond patterns of Losric City with his off-hand.

Skillful techniques, a strong body, top-notch equipment, combined with the power of the wyvern...

This is the Losric Knight Order.

He gently patted his partner’s neck, soothing its spirit, preventing it from breathing fire.

He was long accustomed to the wyvern’s bony and sharp scales on its neck.

The heel of his plated boots gently kicked the wyvern’s back, prompting the bone-white creature to lift its menacing head from the bridge.

When this wyvern lay on the building, it seemed like a new layer of a small castle had been added on top of the gatehouse.

Its two hind legs, the size of their claws alone, were enough to grip a full armor knight.

From head to tail, it measured twenty meters long, with a wingspan reaching thirty meters for its membrane wings and claws.

”Hiss~”

The flames seeping from between the dragon’s teeth made an explosive sound in the air.

The Losric Knight lifted the visor of his helmet, nodding to the stationed soldiers of the gatehouse.

This was to signal them to watch the movements of the people below, as the ”blood eclipse” had persisted for a long time, stirring fear among the people, driving them to approach Losric City.

To approach the Holy City, closest to the flames and furthest from danger.

They couldn’t be relied upon to remain rational.

In the eyes of the Losric Knight, these people didn’t understand the greatness of this Holy City, nor did they comprehend the greatness of the King and Princes.

That’s why they resembled filthy beasts, running aimlessly, even planning to seek an audience with the noble Prince.

The fire will not extinguish.

The Losric Dragon Rider firmly believed in his heart that the Fire Transmission Ceremony, safeguarded by the King for millennia, would proceed without a hitch, just like before.

Thus, he grew increasingly disdainful of these panicked, bewildered people on the bridge.

Losric had protected the world’s fireseed for millennia, yet those under their protection still failed to fully trust Losric’s King and Princes...

How disgraceful.

The Dragon Rider ’clacked’ the visor of his helmet back down.

The heel of his plate boots tapped the wyvern’s back again, prompting the wyvern, which had anchored itself at the gate with its wing claws, to flap its wings and ascend into the sky. It continued to patrol back and forth along the broad, long bridge, announcing the notice.

If the pilgrims or passersby failed to regain their senses, the stationed soldiers on the gatehouse were ready to close the gates at any time.

Physically blocking their path forward.

Then, preparing to mete out deterrent punishment, or choosing to slaughter the people on this section of the bridge in case of escalating chaos—such choices were simple.

In a world naturally possessing a cruel temperament, such choices weren’t difficult to make.

Lann’s hand rested on the Qilin’s long neck, calming his partner.

He remained silent, unwilling to directly confront Losric’s Knights and gate guards.

And around him, groups of pilgrims seemed accustomed to such treatment.

They propped themselves up with withered wood-like arms, holding staffs with hanging censers, just standing there, waiting idly.

They couldn’t even sit down to rest; their stone-carapaced backs and physical states destined them to die on the spot if they sat.

Pilgrimage, a never-ending torment.

Lann couldn’t even imagine how many had died along the way.

How many had initially set out to still have a continuous stream onto the bridge to the city after so many perished.

The entire bridge plunged into an endless silence following the halt of the pilgrims’ steps.

Only the trembling bodies of the pilgrims occasionally caused the chains binding the stone carapaces to emit sounds of stone and metal grinding.

The smoke wafted gently from the censers on their staffs.

The massive ’Bridge Guard’ also grounded the head of its large hammer, standing silently beneath the gatehouse.

Under this ’bleeding eclipse,’ it seemed there was no other disturbance.

High above, the Losric Dragon Rider patrolled back and forth on his wyvern, ensuring that the people on the bridge had halted.

”Roar!”

Only then did the bone-white wyvern let out a roar, its wings slicing the air with deafening vibrations as its massive body deftly turned towards Losric City and flew away.

It seemed the knight atop believed the task was complete and intended to return to the city to report.

He had become quite adept at this task.

Presumably, this was not the first time today.

Be it the Losric Dragon Riders, the guardians on the bridge gatehouse, the ’Bridge Guard,’ or the pilgrims on the bridge, all had experienced this multiple times, surely.

Nobody felt today would be different.

Nobody expected any surprises today.

However...

In the occasionally resonant silence of the environment, Lann suddenly raised his head and turned around.

Among the dense throng of pilgrims far behind, someone was reciting a certain story.

”Zzzzt~”

Under this faint and unique sound, the Qilin also twisted its long neck, turning around.

For it was an all-too-familiar sound—the sound of electricity surging.

What’s happening here?

Lann failed to grasp the situation immediately.

But immediately, he sharply realized the current situation, and the vertical pupils in those cat eyes suddenly contracted!

”Calm down! Don’t...”

Don’t attack the Losric Dragon Riders, there are many people here!

Lann’s shout didn’t have time to be completed.

The Demon Hunter had already tried his best to run towards the location where the chanting was coming from, but ultimately didn’t make it and only knocked over several pilgrims along the way.

The chant was very brief.

It was a story from ancient times, when warriors hunted the Dragon Race.

So the ”miracle” was completed quickly as well.

With a ”whoosh,” a slender, golden lightning bolt shot out from a corner of the dense group of pilgrims, narrowly missing Lann’s cheek and heading straight to the sky!

And the Dragon Riders circling in the air, overlooking the situation on the bridge, originally felt ready to call it a day.

But seeing a warrior-like person suddenly charging recklessly among the crowd on the bridge causing chaos.

The Dragon Rider decided immediately to lower some altitude to see what the matter was.

He had just begun the maneuver with his flying dragon partner, when suddenly...

”Whoosh!”

A ”lightning spear,” with a golden trail, grazed past the root of the flying dragon’s wing that had just dropped a little altitude!

The original target of that ”lightning spear” seemed to be the root of the flying dragon’s wing, aiming to cripple its aerial advantage.

It was only because of the Dragon Rider’s recent decision to lower his position that it missed, flying towards the sky instead.

The ”miracle” of lightning is the nemesis of the Dragon Race.

During the inception of the Fire Age, it was Great King G Wen who led the Divine Race, using lightning consolidated into javelins to pierce through the immortal dragon scales of the Ancient Dragons, making the Dragon Race vulnerable to harm and leading them to death.

This restraining effect has persisted onto these sparse-blooded flying dragons today.

Using lightning against the Dragon Race will be exceptionally effective.

This is common knowledge within the Losric Knight Order, who were once Dragon Slayer Knights.

”Damn it!”

The Dragon Rider on the back of the flying dragon broke into a cold sweat under the armor!

His position was not low now, if he had lost flying capability, just the fall alone would be deadly!

Have any of those pilgrims gone mad?

The Dragon Rider’s first thought was just that.

As the flame dims, most of the pilgrims’ bodies had already reached their limits, it wouldn’t surprise anyone even if they went mad or died on the spot.

Losric only allows a few groups of pilgrims into the city each day for this reason.

But in the next moment, he realized he was wrong...

”Whoosh whoosh whoosh!” *N

The first ”lightning spear” seemed like a starter’s pistol; hitting was great, as it was a good beginning.

But even if it missed, there were still dozens of ”lightning spears” left!

A large number of small lightning spears made from concentrated golden lightning were projected towards the sky.

Though the power of this lightning is far weaker compared to the great war during the Fire Age’s inception, the flying dragons the Losric Knights ride are not those immortal Ancient Dragons!

”Flap flap!”

Under the knight’s command, the flying dragon controlled its wings, trying its best to dodge.

The advantage of air over ground is obvious, with just a few simple maneuvers, most of the numerous ”lightning spears” missed, flying to the sky under the golden trail.

While a few ”lightning spears” still landed on the flying dragon’s body.

”Roar!”

The flying dragon roared in pain, but although lightning restrains the Dragon Race, those ”lightning spears” didn’t hit critical areas like the wing roots or chest.

So although flying became strenuous, at least they didn’t directly fall to the ground.

”Blow the horn!”

The flying dragon swept past the gatehouse on the bridge, the Dragon Rider shouted at the stunned guards.

”Call for backup! This isn’t some person going mad! It’s a riot!”

The sound of ”clang clang” rang intermittently under the gatehouse.

That was the sound of people originally dressed as pilgrims taking off the stone tortoise shells they carried on their backs!

In the dense group of pilgrims, it’s hard to tell at a glance who’s the attacker and who’s innocent.

”Rush into Losric!” We... ugh!”

The person Lann first charged at was also the first to shed the disguise of a pilgrim, pulled out a longsword from under the black robe, shouting loudly.

But before he could finish speaking, Lann’s body was already in front of him.

This person didn’t stop chanting even once, and unhesitatingly thrust the longsword towards the Demon Hunter.

Lann’s large hand precisely intercepted his wrist midway, then in his shocked gaze.

With absolute strength, he pressed the sword blade onto the man’s own neck, then swiftly drew it...

The blood sprayed high.

But Lann’s expression didn’t look good.

Because those slogans were still shouted out as the command signals for this riotous action.

They were shouted from the mouth of another person far from the bridge.

They truly began acting after comprehensive planning.

”We must meet Prince Losric! Meet King Ausloes! Only they can save the flame!”

After shouting the slogan marking the ’start of action’, the person hid among the nearby pilgrims.

Using them as his human shields, creating confusion.
