Chapter 893: Chapter 875: Grand [Miracle]

Now, without a doubt, the entire Profound Church has transformed from the church ’guarding the profound power’ to the church ’following the profound faith.’

Not only the priests, bishops, and archbishops within the church, but also those outside the church—believers who originally had no access to inner prayers, missionaries, and servants—have all become followers of the profound faith.

So even though the sudden outbreak of war just now resulted in the death of most priests, Klimte still dared not relax his vigilance.

He began to regroup his forces to defend against possible invaders outside the Great Cathedral.

Death is commonplace and considered normal in this world, so neither the Maggot Men nor the surviving Warriors were bothered by it.

Especially with the departure of the [Lord of Cinders] and the [Profound Saint] on the opposite side, there was even less psychological pressure.

”Even if you encounter those remaining followers of the profound inside the church, do not act rashly now.”

Klimte gave orders to the crowd, appearing exhausted.

”We have suffered heavy losses now. Wait for everyone to recover some, and then clean up those other...”

Only half of the word ’heretic’ came out of the mouth of the sole remaining archbishop.

He was interrupted by a surge of warm golden light.

His graying beard, stained with blood from the fierce battle, seemed to go unnoticed, as he stared blankly at the direction from which the grand warm golden light emanated.

—— Rosalie’s chamber.

”Hmm!?”

A series of exclamations erupted from the mouths of the Maggot Men and the Warriors.

They simultaneously felt their bodies rapidly recovering.

The golden light not only warmed them in feeling but also restored physical vitality.

Undoubtedly, this must be some kind of restorative [miracle].

Yet such a vast scope, high-efficiency recovery [miracle]... they hadn’t even heard of it before, let alone seen it!

Among the astonished and incredulous crowd, only one skinny knight fully adorned with fearsome spikes—[Thorned Knight·Kirk].

The cloudy eyes peeking through the helm slit seemed to recall something difficultly, then silently knelt on one knee toward the direction of Rosalie’s chamber, showing respect.

-----------------

Just now, the unconscious Lann was carried into Rosalie’s chamber.

Tall and stout Winged Knights clad in their exclusive armor carefully cradled the Demon Hunter’s body, heading towards the deepest part of the room, to the Goddess sitting slumped on the bed.

While Klimte arranged defenses and vigilance outside, Leonard, being the Goddess Knight, naturally followed in.

The Goddess had issued a decree... something that hasn’t happened for a long time.

Since the Goddess’s tongue was cut out, she seemed dead-hearted, refusing communication with others.

Body language, writing... completely rejected.

Although after becoming a Winged Knight, one could engage in limited mental communication with the Goddess.

But due to some kind of... inferiority, Leonard rejected linking his mind to the Goddess, never even undergoing the rebirth ceremony.

He only saw himself as a humble guardian of Rosalie.

So now, he could only learn the Goddess’s decree from the mouths of the Winged Knights.

The heavy and complexly structured armors of the Winged Knights clattered with ’clang clang’ as they moved, disturbingly clear in this re-silent chamber of the Goddess.

And aside from these metal collision sounds, there was also the ’plop plop’ of hoofbeats rapidly approaching from outside.

A noble steed, though covered with broad, silky rune cloth, still displayed an elegant posture.

On the broad back of the steed, a petite, armored and equipped cat.

This peculiar combination was about to burst through the door seam of the chamber.

Though the steed bore a noble majestic stance, this was ultimately the Goddess’s abode, the so-called steed was merely a beast.

As the Goddess Knight, Leonard instinctively blocked the entrance, ready to raise a hand to stop them.

”Halt.”

Under the pull of its mane by the Rong Buqiu on its back, the Qilin indeed halted its hooves, merely snorting displeased with a ’snort’.

And Rong Buqiu leapt down from the Qilin’s back, looking solemnly up at Leonard... although that serious cat face was still quite cute.

”What are you planning to do with Lann, meow!”

Yet if you add, that furry paw has already drawn the Thunder Cat Sword blade one centimeter out of its sheath.

The faintly crackling blue arcs, added quite an air of severity to the face of the Three-Floral Kitten.

”He just saved you, meow!”

Faced with Rong Buqiu’s direct questioning, Leonard seemed slightly surprised, recalling the appearance of the cat when it first showed up.

The kind that was terrified by the dark.

But now, it dares to stand here unsheathing a sword for questioning.

Underestimated it before.

Leonard thought to himself. But what should be said must still be spoken.

”He’s injured now, and under the decree of the Goddess, we’re bringing him in. But you are not included in the decree...”

The word ’included’ was yet to be spoken when the footsteps of the Winged Knights behind Leonard resounded again.

”The Goddess said: let them come in.”

The large armored glove patted Leonard’s shoulder.

The Winged Knight’s voice sounded muffled within the helm.

”They are all kind-hearted helpers of ours, nothing they shouldn’t see.”

Leonard glanced back, and ultimately stepped aside to clear the way.

”Take care of this horse, don’t let it defecate inside.”

No matter how noble a steed, it never cares about the occasion when it needs to defecate. This was Leonard’s understanding.

The Goddess Knight, considering the reduction of his workload, reminded Rong Buqiu.

After all, if the Goddess’s chamber did get dirty, it would be him to clean it up.

But as the Qilin passed by him, it gently snorted with a huff, a small arc of electricity snapping on Leonard’s body.

This made him jerk sharply.

Yet he could only watch as Rong Buqiu and the Qilin approached the Goddess, biting his tongue, unable to say much more.

Rong Buqiu cautiously squeezed through the short legs of the Winged Knights, while the Qilin, relying on its long neck, stretched its head inside.

Finally, they saw Lann’s current state.

The Demon Hunter had been placed on the Goddess’s bed by the Winged Knights,

his head resting upon the Goddess’s thigh as she sat slumped.

Thick black liquid continuously seeped from his closed eyelids, as if something were wriggling underneath.

The Qilin anxiously rubbed its hoof on the red fabric covering the ground, while Rong Buqiu rested its little chin on the bed’s edge.

From Rong Buqiu’s angle, it could just glimpse Rosalie’s entire face under the black veil.

It was indeed a beautiful and gentle face, just as Leonard had declared.

At this moment, the Goddess’s eyes looked at the unconscious Demon Hunter, a flash of indescribable emotion crossing them, whether of nostalgia or something else.

Finally, her hands clasped together before her chest.

This was indeed a common posture when invoking a ”Miracle.”

A ”Miracle” is a spell cast through genuine faith, telling the stories of the deities and the age of deities.

Under this faith-centered casting requirement, the Caster naturally assumes a praying stance.

Yet Rosalie’s ”Miracle” was distinctly different from other holy rites.

Perhaps due to her Goddess lineage and identity, or perhaps because this ”Miracle” was so ancient and powerful.

In any case, even before the ”Miracle” was fully released, the golden glow of the ’preparation phase’ was already considered magnificent!

And when the final prayer was completed, a warm circle of golden light erupted from Rosalie’s hands, like sunlight nourishing all living things.

At the glow’s center, the Goddess gently pressed it onto Lann’s forehead.

The black viscous liquid that had been extending from under his eyelids, like time reversing, retreated back beneath Lann’s eyelids, settling completely as if nothing had happened.

The glowing circles that spread outwards, even just the residual ripples, completely healed the Maggot Men and Warriors still alive outside the chamber.

This included those Maggot Men and Warriors who had rushed to the other end of the first-floor hall to ensure no threats remained by delivering finishing blows to the enemies.

If we talk about the area of effect, this almost extended into the main structure of the grand Profound Church!

”Wow~ so amazing, meow!”

Rong Buqiu genuinely marveled.

He and the Qilin saw the strange marks on Lann’s face vanish, feeling much relieved.

And Lann himself was in a state of peculiar sensation.

After glimpsing Elderidge’s essence with ”Spiritual Vision,” he inexplicably understood much about the power and knowledge of ’Profound.’

But this was not a good thing, for after acquiring this knowledge, it seemed the knowledge also ’discovered’ him.

’Humanity’ and ’soul,’ ’the human soul is dark’...

Darkness swept through his mind, as if many worms emerged from the darkness inside his body, gnawing at his innards.

Ceaselessly, with a rustling sound.

However, fortunately, he was not a native species of this world.

His soul clearly differed in concept from the human souls of this world.

His humanity also didn’t overlap with the humanity here.

Therefore, this knowledge from the Profound, for now, only brought him pain without causing brainwashing, cognitive dissonance, or even bodily mutation.

Then, amidst the pain, a warm golden light poured down, dispelling the darkness.

Originally, Lann thought Aron Dite had unleashed the powers of the Lady of the Lake.

After all, warmth and golden light matched those key features.

But upon further reflection, Lann keenly noticed the difference.

After all, he had also glimpsed the essence of the Lady of the Lake with ”Spiritual Vision,” a vast, gleaming lake beneath the world’s surface.

Those lights resembled shimmering ripples more.

Whereas these lights felt more like... gentle sunshine.

”Hiss~”

The Demon Hunter’s eyes shot open, as he took a deep breath.

The golden light had chased away the dark knowledge pursuing him, and the impacts and injuries to his body had long since been healed by the golden light, so he awoke quickly.

Yet upon waking, Lann blinked his eyes.

Turning his head back and forth slightly.

For his field of vision was somewhat peculiar.

Two ’rounded hills’ blocked the right half of his view, and even most of the left half.

Only on the extreme edge of the left side could he catch a slanted glimpse of the ceiling.
