Chapter 852: Chapter 835: Malaka!

The disorganized movement state of his body caused the laser emitted from the Sword of Damocles in Demos’s hand to waver for a moment.

But at the forefront of that laser, Lann, who was rushing toward Demos, keenly seized this momentary change.

The biological AI in his brain instantly calculated an action formula, just waiting for the host to execute it.

And as always, Lann demonstrated his arguably perfect execution ability.

”!”

The hand sign, prepared in advance, was instantly infused with Chaos Magic Power, forming a Magic Seal.

A layer of golden Magic Shield emerged on Lann.

However, if it were just the Quen Rune, it could be seen as nonexistent when facing the high-energy lasers of the Elder Race.

After all, the Demon Hunter’s magic seals have a hard time dealing with a barrage of bows and crossbows, let alone high-energy lasers.

But Lann himself did not expect to ’block hard’ either.

From the very start of his battle with Demos, he had set the combat style for this fight—never giving Demos a chance for head-on confrontation.

Lann’s combat strategy has always been flexible, efficient, and in pursuit of perfection.

It’s the same now.

The golden light of the Quen Rune, after being generated, instantly disappeared from most areas, leaving only a small area in front of Lann’s hand sign where the golden light was even more vigorous.

A small golden shield was almost formed.

The protruding smooth spherical surface happened to meet the moment when Demos’s ray wavered.

As if a mirror reflection had occurred, the golden high-energy laser was deflected upwards by the shield of the Quen Rune.

The originally straight laser, due to Lann’s ’mirror fixed point’ movement, caused the refracted ray to ’slash’ across the upper eaves and marble pillars of the Parthenon Temple.

The area swept by the laser formed a line, and the stones along the line first turned a scorching red, then showed signs of liquefaction, becoming molten, unable to support their weight due to the fault liquefaction.

This grand temple, its outer eaves and three of its columns immediately collapsed in a ’rumble’, with the sound of marble blocks shattering and causing ashes to fly.

Everyone in Athens all widened their eyes simultaneously, looking toward the Parthenon Temple on the Acropolis hilltop.

This temple was built prominently, so its altered state was also very visible now.

Due to superior architectural design, the main body of the temple did not suffer much damage... yet.

Spirals of airflow twined around Lann’s legs.

Under the effect of the Acceleration Technique, he closed in on Demos almost immediately after the laser was fired.

But even with such a brief contact time with the high-energy laser, and taking advantage of side contact, the concentrated Quen Rune in front of him was already completely shattered.

However, this was within expectations.

Demos, seeing his own laser was ineffective and his opponent approaching, had no chance to use the charging laser again.

So he simply sneered, tightening his grip on his Sword of Damocles.

Even in close combat, he had complete confidence in his body and his sword!

His senses, inherited from the Elder Race, locked tightly on Lann.

The Lady of the Lake’s Sword, originally held in his right hand, was deftly tossed to his left during his charge.

Switching hands while wielding a weapon in battle is also a common method to confuse the enemy.

Keeping the opponent unsure which side the next attack will come from in their tense state.

But if you think such a trick can fool these eyes, it’s downright laughable!

Demos, facing the weapon-switching Lann, kept his gaze fixed and steady.

However, such steadiness only lasted a moment before...

”Malaka!!!”

Demos’s eyes widened, involuntarily uttering a shocked curse.

For Lann was looking down on him with a playful gaze.

For this man was pulling out an enormous sword, one Demos had never even imagined, from somewhere behind him!

In the last dash, Lann leaped high.

Similar to Demos’s move at the start of the battle.

But contrary to Demos’s guess, Lann’s weapon switching was not for ’tactical deception’, but for the convenience of drawing out the Muddy Stream·Destruction!

His basic quality might not be as good as yours, but the weight of the leap combined with the greatsword! Plus...

’Boom!’

The sound of flames exploding.

Once the Muddy Stream·Destruction was pulled out of the Alchemy Pouch, a tyrannical and destructive aura spread simultaneously.

The sword’s ferocity was beyond words.

The dark blade seemed to obscure even the sunlight streaming into the temple.

And simultaneously, jumping mid-air, Lann used a technique from the Monster Hunter’s world, developed specifically to deal with super-strong life-force dragons.

Aerial Charging Slash!

Light red Fighting Spirit burst forth, covering Lann’s body and greatsword!

Suddenly facing such a situation, Demos was able to curse ’Malaka’ instinctively, making Lann think he was already very composed for someone in that position.

Instinctively, Demos could only grip the handle of his Sword of Damocles with one hand, supporting the blade surface with the other, and brace upwards with the middle of the short sword.

”Clang!!!”

A solemn and majestic sound, like the tolling of a church bell, reverberated throughout the temple.

That was the first sound.

Immediately after, the dragon attribute energy unleashed from Muddy Stream·Destruction shrouded Demos’s head with an inky black mist, flickering with crimson arcs.

The Divine Artifact’s protection on Demos flickered erratically, like a circuit malfunction, sizzling and crackling.

Demos himself had bulging arm veins under the massive force of the greatsword’s slash!

Because of the facial compensation mechanism of the body, he involuntarily clenched his teeth, exposing a fierce expression. His skin, too, turned several shades redder due to the sudden exertion.

But ultimately, his weight was a disadvantage.

The marble floor beneath his Greek sandals was cracked into two web-like depressions!

But it still couldn’t withstand it.

Demos slipped underfoot, forced to lean back, his whole body shooting back like a tennis ball hit hard, with the hem of his clothing carrying traces of ash as he flew out.

”Thud!”

A solid thud, as Demos was struck by Lann’s greatsword, sent flying backward, directly crashing into the Athena statue in the temple!

The impact point was slightly left of its legs, and so the immense force not only was not absorbed by the bronze statue but also caused it to tilt forward as a result of the offset impact!

The head of Athena’s bronze statue, when descending, smashed the stone offering table in front of the altar into two halves.

Petals on the ground, offerings in urns, bottles, and jars, wine—all sorts of items scattered around as a result.
