Chapter 890: Chapter 873: Breach!

”Get out of the way!”

Riding a Qilin through the church hall, Lann, with the combined force of his mount and his own strength, brought about an extraordinary destructive effect.

”Bang!”

Lann’s [Muddy Stream·Destruction] was three meters and two in length! It was long enough to use as a lance on horseback!

He simply gripped the hilt of the Greatsword under his arm, then raised the massive and heavy blade horizontally.

The next moment, a Church Knight, wielding a shield and hammer combo, was pinned through the shield by the enormous blade! His body was also nailed to the wall!

Even under the impact, the knight’s strong limbs bounced against the wall several times, like a helpless toy.

”Screech~”

As he extracted the wide blade, the breach in the armor and shield edges screeched against the sword surface.

When the Qilin and Lann collaborate in combat, the Yakxi Rune variant doesn’t stop.

So the Qilin can fight in a mental synergy with Lann.

When Lann needs to swing the terrifying Greatsword, the Qilin can even instinctively match its footsteps.

It first turns its body in circles, then Lann’s arms and torso follow in motion.

The force of a swing isn’t just from human muscles and inertia; it’s also imbued with the physical strength of the Ancient Dragon.

So on horseback, Lann’s movements are always expansive; when leaning back, his waist seems like a taut bow; when smashing down, he wishes to stretch his sword-wielding arm to the furthest distance.

Because this is the posture that brings out the maximum output when cooperating with the Qilin.

The Subterranean Bishops can bless themselves with [Subterranean Protection] to resist the natural lightning of the Qilin.

But they are still vulnerable to swords and physical strength!

”Neigh~!”

The Qilin swings its body to the side, and its flowing white mane rolls out waves in the air.

On its back, Lann follows this sway and simultaneously flings his [Muddy Stream·Destruction], sword tip downward!

The immense weight and volume make the air whimper.

”Boom~ Screech!”

The dark sword body and bone-white blade slice an arc in an instant.

This Greatsword is wider than the bishops’ waists.

Seven or eight Subterranean Bishops standing to the side simultaneously become a spectacle of upper and lower bodies separating.

Their upper bodies fly high in the sky, shattered, torn, and chewed by the blunt blade edge, while a wave-like mass of blood, mince, and shattered bones follows the blade’s inertia, splashing a perfect arc onto the ground.

After this swing, the Qilin doesn’t pause.

It raises its front hooves high and, with a satisfying snort, ’plops’ down, stomping a Subterranean Bishop into a Dwarf-sized figure.

Then after the front hooves land, its head thrusts forward, followed by a raise.

The Qilin’s horn, which even the tightened muscles of the Golden Lion dare not confront head-on, easily pierces the Subterranean Bishop’s chest, hurling the corpse away.

Luckily, Margaret prepared this set of magic horse harness for the Qilin, with silk rune fabric also providing waterproof effects.

Otherwise, this feline creature’s face would now be drenched in blood.

In the church hall’s first level, the Subterranean Bishops and Church Knights were almost cleared out in minutes after Lann and the Qilin’s collaboration in battle.

Only MacDonald and Louis, the two archbishops, remained.

MacDonald was first a Mage, then also studied priestly duties, making his methods comprehensive and complicated.

Louis, on the other hand, was a pure cleric; he could cast [Miracle·Original Force] repeatedly without shortness of breath, like Klimte did earlier.

Thus, Lann and the Qilin hadn’t effectively harmed them.

On the other hand, the second-floor terrace was indeed difficult to hold.

”Boom!”

Elderidge controlled the giant’s shell, emptied by him, punching again at the iron-barred door of the room where he was once imprisoned.

This time, the iron-barred door constructed by Losric finally reached its limit.

After Leonard, Klimte, and the remaining Maggot Men’s all-out attacks and defense, Elderidge ultimately tore open the iron door.

The ”squeak” of snapping and ripping iron bars echoed endlessly.

Leonard’s eyes behind the silver mask widened in rage: ”You filthy drowned pig!”

The Crescent Curved Sword in his hand continuously projected greenish light blades during its swings, heading for the giant’s shell.

But at best, the largest achievement was cutting a gash in the shell, revealing the black mud and tar-like substance flowing like blood beneath the giant’s skin.

Elderidge didn’t care at all.

”We can’t hurt him!”

Leonard was shouting in near despair, but on the other side of the terrace, Klimte continued to cast miracles relentlessly, trying to stop Elderidge.

”For Rosalie! We must hold on!”

Once the iron gate had been torn open, the only thing standing in front of Elderidge was a tall room door.

This thing looked thick, and it indeed was, but its protective ability was no match for the outer iron gate.

After all, it was built by Losric as the last line of defense to imprison Elderidge.

However, after this most fortified defense line was breached, the door of the room inside opened a sizable gap on its own.

Leonard looked back in astonishment, his expression soon turning to exhilaration.

”Angel!”

He shouted loudly, as if to encourage the others on the terrace and also to cheer himself up.

”The Mother of Rebirth has not abandoned us! The angel reborn by her is here!”

Three corpulent, tall figures burst out from the gap of that door.

They were wearing gold, broad armor, which looked bulky and clumsy but was actually crafted with advanced technology to deflect attacks effectively.

The blue ribbon at the center of their armor symbolized ’loyalty and purity’ in knight culture.

The armor had openings around the shoulder blades to allow the angel’s wings inside to move freely outside the armor.

From this opening, it was clear that the armor was designed and forged specifically for angels.

It was also one of the items transported with the convoy that arrived with Rosalie.

Among the three Golden Armor Feathered Knights, one was holding a long-handled halberd, while the other two each wielded a short-handled axe.

The blades of those short-handled axes curved inward, with an arc that seemed to fit perfectly around the back of a neck, looking more like execution tools than battle weapons.

In the convoy, there were originally a few Maggot Men who were nearly complete with their ’rebirth’ process.

Before this sudden conflict erupted, Leonard and Klimte were conducting the final ceremony for these Maggot Men.

And now, those Maggot Men had transformed from soft, limp worm shapes into tall and valiant Winged Knights!

”For Rosalie!”

The Winged Knights roared, their helmet designs somewhat comical, but under the voices filled with determination and anger, no one could harbor the slightest disdain for those helmets and armors.

Though the wings on their shoulder blades were quite disproportionate to their bodies, they indeed granted the Winged Knights the ability to fly.

As soon as they emerged from the door gap, they flapped their wings heading towards the giant’s body in mid-air.

The massive halberd of a Winged Knight came crashing down, aimed precisely at the opening in the skull that Lann had previously split open.

When the halberd crashed down, the crack on the giant’s skull instantly widened, and viscous black sludge splattered like a stone thrown into a puddle.

Meanwhile, one of the two Winged Knights wielding short-handled axes swung his axes around him, spinning like a bladed top, leaving grotesque and dense scars on the giant’s shell.

The other flew beside the giant, his body emitting a faint white glow mid-air.

With his hands opened wide and head slightly raised, he seemed to be praying to a higher presence in the void.

And the void did indeed respond.

Pillars of holy light of unknown origin, accompanied by pure white feathers, struck down densely around the Winged Knight.

The black tar beneath the skin of Elderidge’s giant body churned violently, and he let out a painful howl through the giant’s mouth.

This dense and powerful attack seemed to have finally hurt him.

But that was all.

His actions showed no signs of interruption, his gluttonous hunger filled with greedy desire spreading with his profound power, making everyone’s heart tremble.

”Crackle!”

High voltage electricity now struck down from the dark clouds on top of the church hall, hitting Elderidge.

Whether it was because he lost his human form along with his casting abilities is unknown.

Elderidge didn’t place even the most basic protective miracle on himself.

This led to the cyan lightning from the Qilin having an effect on him, though the effect was limited to the impact, making the black sludge in his body burst into large splashes from his shoulder alone.

Sitting on the Qilin’s back, Lann frowned, looking at Elderidge, who clung to the second-floor terrace with eyes seemingly focused only on ’devouring Rosalie,’ caring nothing about anything else.

He turned his head, looking down at MacDonald and Louis, who were nervously swallowing and clutching their staff tightly in the distance.

Previously, they didn’t care about the Demon Hunter.

But as the battle developed to this point, neither of them had any confidence in surviving another minute in front of Lann.

Yet, Lann now had no time to deal with Kilmte remaining in the hall.

On the second-floor terrace, Elderidge had already slapped away a Winged Knight, sending the knight’s body flying across the entire church hall, crashing hard onto the wall on the other side.

And next, Elderidge was ready to tear open the door to Rosalie’s chamber.
