Chapter 851: Chapter 834: Power

Demos is indeed stronger than the current Cassandra... much stronger!

From Lann’s understanding of this Ancient Greek world, their strength mainly depends on the connection with the prehistoric First Civilization, that is, the Elder Race.

Those with Elder Race bloodlines are stronger than ordinary people. And if the Elder Race bloodline can be paired with the use of Elder Race Divine Artifacts, they are even stronger.

But Cassandra and Demos, the uniqueness of these two siblings in this world is that—not only do they have an astonishingly high purity of bloodline, but the weapons in their hands are also frightening!

In this Ancient Greek world, in ordinary contexts, ’Divine Artifact’ refers to pieces of Elder Race Divine Artifacts that humans dig out from underground, which are remains of the Elder Race’s technological materials, then reforged by human craftsmen.

But in the hands of Cassandra and Demos, the Greek short sword and Broken Spear they wield are forged in the ancient Elder Race furnace!

They are complete Elder Race Divine Artifacts made entirely with Elder Race technology, without any human intervention!

They are not mere Divine Artifact fragments; when the Broken Spear and short sword are shattered, the debris can be called Divine Artifact fragments!

That’s why after Cassandra uses her Broken Spear to fight others’ Divine Artifacts, she barely suffers any depletion.

Because those Divine Artifacts made by humans using Divine Artifact fragments are simply not in the same league as the Broken Spear.

Moreover, Cassandra’s Broken Spear is not at its highest form yet.

It can still be upgraded using those triangular Divine Artifact fragments from the members of the Divine Teachings organization. After upgrading, not only will the Broken Spear be enhanced, but Cassandra herself will also be elevated.

Indeed a straightforward and convenient ’upgrading system’.

As for Demos... he was exposed to the ancient forge much earlier than Cassandra.

And he received earnest cultivation from the Order Divine Teachings, perhaps he was directly provided with the materials that Cassandra had to travel across the Mediterranean to gather by finding and killing people.

The Greek short sword he possesses is likely at its peak state!

So after the first clash between the Lady of the Lake’s Sword and that golden Greek short sword, Lann immediately abandoned his usual stance.

He was often the one with superior physical ability, but now, the situation was different.

When Demos jumped up and slashed, the blade of the Lady of the Lake’s Sword, which Lann originally intended to meet head-on, briefly sparked.

With a look of astonishment in Lann’s eyes, he smoothly and fluidly adjusted his stance, like flowing water, transforming the entire structure.

Instead of brute force, he borrowed the opponent’s strength, leaping backward by half a step, silently defusing the impact!

While on the other side, Demos looked even more surprised, as if he had seen a ghost.

He was the kind of warrior similar to Lann, accustomed to overwhelming opponents with his physical prowess.

He usually accelerated the combat pace to a point where the enemy couldn’t keep up, eventually getting decapitated or having their chest torn open.

Yet in the first clash with Lann...he couldn’t accelerate the pace of the battle!

Because each weapon clash with Lann interrupted the rhythm!

Demos felt that his attacks, which should have been smooth and swift like a storm, felt awkward right after the first strike.

His muscle position was off, his bone connections felt awkward... as if the movement of his own body had been warped.

Though he could return to normal with a little movement, like turning his arm or twisting his neck, he hardly had time to do so in a fast-paced battle.

In the Ancient Greece era, both artisan and martial skills of humans were still at a rudimentary level.

So Demos didn’t even recognize this as Lann’s skillful combat technique but merely assumed it was a peculiar function of some Divine Artifact.

”You think you can deal with me using these little trinkets?!”

Demos roared as his body radiated blinding golden light.

”I’ll show you, in front of the Sword of Damocles, these trinkets can only turn to ashes!”

The Sword of Damocles?

Lann mused.

The parable of that thing won’t emerge until two to three hundred years later, how could it have such a name now?

Or could it be that the legendary sword in the tale becomes famous because it was in your hands?

Yet during the fight, Lann didn’t have time for such musings.

The brightness of the Sword of Damocles in Demos’s hands grew higher, yet its glowing parts started to concentrate.

Finally, in an almost unnoticeable moment of power gathering, a soft ’zing’ sounded.

Faint as petals touching the ground, swift as glitches in a flickering video.

A faint but dazzling golden light flashed from the tip of the Sword of Damocles toward Lann.

Elder Race energy has always manifested in this golden color; Lann, during his last encounter in the cave when slaying Hapalos, had witnessed such an ability from that regressive creature.

But now, with the help of the artifact, Demos could emit energy like an Elder Race.

”Rong Buqiu!”

The Demon Hunter shouted, alerting his companion.

While he himself was already forming a Magic Seal in his hand.

Demos’s physical capabilities completely outmatched his own; attempting to dodge the laser while in this situation was a delusion.

Like a common person trying to dodge bullets.

Might as well... charge!

Lann’s eyes squinted slightly; though he had already witnessed the power of the Elder Race lasers.

In that cave back then, the laser from Hapalos’s chest sliced through rocks like a hot knife through butter.

But Lann’s eyes still showed no hesitation.

If anything, dancing on a knife’s edge... thrilled him!

Demos wore a cold smile, for he believed this ’Divine Light’ was invincible!

The guy in front of him, after the flash, should be split... into two halves... huh?!

’Boom’ came a sound that wasn’t too loud of an impact.

Demos’s knee was struck from the side.

The cold grin on his face froze instantly.

On the other side of the Parthenon Temple, Rong Buqiu had already positioned itself before Lann had even spoken, finally finding an advantageous attack spot at the crucial moment!

With a fierce ”meow,” the Three-Floral Kitten darted past Demos, making a small leap and leaving the vicinity, expertly executing a hit-and-run tactic.

What Lann chose not to stubbornly confront head-on, it certainly wouldn’t foolishly face directly.

A warrior uses their brains!

The Thunder Cat Sword, gleaming with azure arcs, landed on the protection provided by the Divine Artifact; although it did not directly break through, the impact force was solidly absorbed by Demos’s knee.

For Demos, the force exerted during Rong Buqiu’s pass was actually not significant.

But the issue wasn’t just ’impact force’... Rong Buqiu was Lann’s companion who had learned [Iwami Style] Swordsmanship!

[Iwami Style: Lower Carp]!

The impact itself was negligible, but executed at the right place and time using the correct technique.

Demos felt that his body’s movements became even more awkward.
