Chapter 887: Chapter 870: Hunting the Giant!

”Boom!!!”

A massive ash-gray fist, this giant towering at twenty meters, with a single finger as large as a person!

In the face of the fist coming straight at him, even Lann didn’t want to take it head-on.

”[Alder]!”

The Magic Seal flew across the path of the fist, knocking away two squirming Maggot Men, and Lann himself turned and jumped aside, preventing any casualties.

However, the giant’s fist still slammed into the outer wall gate of the room where Rosalie was!

This room was originally where Elderidge was confined before the fire was relayed, and it had good protection.

Outside the gate was another solid gate with embossed carvings and runes on a metal grille.

Each metal bar of the grille was as thick as an adult’s arm, crisscrossing out of the wall to form the gate.

The giant’s fist alone must have weighed over a dozen tons, not to mention it was a fully swung punch!

Yet even so, the iron grille door only dislodged some dust in the impact, not bending the crisscrossed metal bars.

In truth, the bishops hadn’t expected that a mere slave giant could break into Rosalie’s room.

The giant, as they initially mentioned, was merely for opening the way.

After the punch, the giant maintained its pose, with its arm on the second-floor balcony, unmoving.

Looking down, Lann saw a group of iron tower-like Church Knights rushing up using the giant’s posed body!

Compared to the forces inside the Profound Church, the squad brought back by Klimte was really too feeble.

”Didn’t you say that those Church Knights could even use King Ausloes’s personal emblem?”

Lann grabbed a small slave who jumped down from a high wall, trying to take his head, and swung him against the wall.

Blood splattered across the stone wall.

The half-human-sized body was like a toy in Lann’s hand, fragile and light.

Klimte, who was being questioned, twitched his lips.

Evidently, even the legendary King of the Losric Kingdom, who reigned at the end of the world of fire, couldn’t make his personal guards immune to the Profound’s corruption.

The Church Knights sent over had all betrayed!

”Tsk...” Lann clicked his tongue, ”All unreliable!”

The Maggot Men kept chanting [Miracles], firing white glimmering twin-pronged spears at the giant.

And the giant, with its thick skin, or perhaps due to high resistance to supernatural powers, possibly enhanced and blessed by the Subterranean Bishops, didn’t flinch even when turned into a porcupine by the white spears.

Maintaining this posture even unto death.

Leonard’s massive blue light spear was indeed more damaging than the Maggot Men’s white twinned spears, making the giant let out deafening painful howls under its iron mask.

Yet the impact was still insufficient, unable to knock him off the second-floor balcony.

Lann hadn’t confronted those Church Knights similar in size to him, but judging from Klimte’s panicked expression, he knew their level was undoubtedly high.

No time to delay!

Letting this troop come up could cause a big mess without Elderidge even needing to act!

”I’ll handle them!”

The magic ring on Lann’s hand sensed the approaching harness.

His feline eyes narrowed slightly.

Two hearts throbbed rapidly within his chest cavity, pushing the blood flow swiftly.

The physical stimulating hormones of the [Holy Chant Gland] began spreading throughout the body from the brain along with the bloodstream.

He slowly clenched his fists, tightening his muscles. The armor straps on him were drawn tight by the bulging muscles, even making the leather creak.

Shaking his head side to side, Lann pushed Leonard, who was blocking his way, aside.

”Are you going to...” The Goddess Knight looked at Lann’s actions in surprise, then understood.

”I must guard the Goddess’s gate until the last moment, but if you go down, we will support you from above.”

”That will be enough.”

Lann said flatly.

The balcony overlooking indeed was a good position for battle, but with so many strong enemies, staying put meant merely delaying death.

”Boom!”

Spiral airflow coiled around his legs, indicating that the [Acceleration Technique] from Yan’an had been fully mastered by Lann, even adapted with his personal style.

If Yan’an Hunters pursued an elusive form, hunting beasts with quick, high-frequency attacks and dodges.

Then Lann strived for the advantage of frontal explosive conflicts.

So now, he could still flicker like smoke while casting [Acceleration Technique] as a Yan’an Hunter. Yet pursuing burst speed produced a fierce stomping boom!

The giant nailed like a porcupine by the Maggot Men’s [Miracles] didn’t react at all.

A figure significantly larger and more ferocious than a common person charged straight at his enormous head!

Pale red Fighting Spirit Light Flame flared up!

The Lady of the Lake’s Sword had returned to his waist, and now Lann shouldered the [Muddy Stream·Destruction]!

He employed a technique specifically used by New Continent Hunters for hunting big monsters!

[Iron Mountain Lean]!

With a shoulder tackle behind the greatsword, it combined momentum, the body’s muscle power, and a burst of fighting spirit.

The resulting impact poured entirely onto the head of the giant wearing the iron mask!

”Boom!!!”

Since the start of the battle, the loudest collision erupted in the church hall at this moment!

The church’s echo structure made the sound resonate like a solemn bell tolling in one’s ears!

”Ooowaaah!!”

From beneath the giant’s iron mask, a baffled and painful roar burst forth.

His stiff and heavy body was knocked backward by the impact. The heavy iron mask on his face suddenly showed a massive dent!

The giant, already slow and uncoordinated, was even more dizzy in this state.

The body, which was originally in position for people to climb on, tilted unstably and wobbly fell backward uncontrollably.

And those cloaked in the giant’s shadow were the Subterranean Bishops.

”Move aside! Everyone move!”

Originally delighted by the death and screams of people on the terrace, Archbishop McDonald nearly leaped up like a drowned pig.

He pulled Louis back while shouting loudly.

No trace of ease and joy remained.

Lann had knocked the giant’s head from forward leaning to backward recoiling, and by the law of momentum conservation, his frail and small body in comparison should have been sent flying in the opposite direction.

But if techniques developed by New Continent Hunters specifically for hunting colossal monsters were flawed due to size differences, how could they battle those monsters?

[Iron Mountain Lean] not only endowed Lann with the impact to knock back the giant’s head but also kept him from being flung away by the counterforce.

The iron mask on the giant’s face was assembled from thick iron bars, fixed over his face.

And now, Lann stood atop the slowly toppling giant’s head, feet on the edge of the mask, hands clutching the gaps between the iron bars, looking down at the Church Knights, Profound Priests, and that pool of filth below.

By rights, McDonald, the sort to survive through apocalyptic hardship and expected to be unfazed by anything, should face things calmly.

But seeing the Demon Hunter standing atop the giant’s face, his gaze following the falling giant, his heart involuntarily twitched.

Damn, he knew this guy was skilled, but given the current stance... this man could rival some renowned heroes!

”Knights! Eliminate him! For our lord!”

McDonald’s carrot-like finger pointed at Lann as he loudly barked orders.

His potato-like head seemed to be sweating a bit.

”We are the [Guardians of the Devouring God]! We must ensure our lord is undisturbed during the feast upon the deities!”

Lann, standing on the giant’s face, raised an eyebrow.

”You’ve even thought of a name for your knight order, quite imposing.”

The giant fell backward, yet falling alone wasn’t enough to take out this giant.

As he fell, his large hands aimed to swat at his face.

Like swatting a fly, hoping to crush Lann onto his face!

But for such a sluggish and stiff giant... they seemed too slow compared to New Continent monsters.

With a ”bang,” the light flame of red fighting spirit reignited in a burst after a moment of silence!

Using the Combat Qi Activation brought by [Iron Mountain Lean], Lann commenced the second phase of the greatsword charge technique — [Strong·Charged Slash]!

The dark greatsword, with a fierce whistle pulling at the air, slashed... no, smashed down!

The Extinct Dragon’s ferocious nature was vividly displayed on this sword.

Savage, brutal.

Lann aimed the sword’s point at the dent he had created on the iron mask.

As soon as the blade touched the iron mask, immense power began tearing the iron bars forming the mask.

The steel was pulled and deformed like dough, and when the deformation exceeded the material’s limit, with a sudden, urgent creak.

The steel ripped apart!

”Splurt!”

The dark sword body, with a pale blade, slammed directly into the giant’s face!

Judging by the depth, it had fully entered the skull!

[Muddy Stream·Destruction] savored the flesh, beginning its voracious consumption of the giant’s wound.

Flesh became nourishment, then transformed into dragon attribute energy.

A mist of black containing red electric arcs appeared out of thin air from the blade, and the corrosive energy coursed through the wound into the giant’s brain!

The already confused giant, with a damaged brain, couldn’t even emit cries of pain and roars, turning into strange whimpers.

”Thud~”

The massive body fell backward in the church, his back crashing onto the central dais of the hall. The once orderly and robust all-stone dais had a dent shaped to his back from the weight.

Dust scattered, stones flew, even blinding the eye of a Profound Priest by chance.

Simultaneously, a phenomenon that should never occur inside the church also began brewing and forming.

Archbishop Louis stared dumbfounded at the dome of the Profound Church hall.

This dome, although high and magnificent, stood over seventy meters tall.

But... no matter how high it was, surely... there couldn’t be a ... thundercloud, right?!
