Trafford's Trading Club

640: Chapter 53: Workaholic 640: Chapter 53: Workaholic The white card has the ability to automatically track the master, but ordinary people can’t see the Black soul envoy.

The transformation between true and real requires mental power, but appearing in front of people is more difficult than hiding.

Throughout the journey, No. 18 was quite earnest in guiding Da Zhe on how to use his abilities more proficiently.

Finally, No. 18 stopped at the base of a tall building and looked up. “Is our target here?” Da Zhe curiously looked up and asked.

No. 18 nodded, then walked right in through the security’s line of sight at the entrance, as if there was no one around.

Da Zhe was still a bit hesitant, but after attempting to imitate No. 18, he discovered… it felt as if he had opened the door to a new world.

Da Zhe waved a hand in front of the security guard, who acted as if nothing had happened and even let out a small yawn. “Stop daydreaming, keep up.” “Oh… okay.” Da Zhe walked up to No. 18, pondering a question, and asked, “By the way, when we choose customers, are there any rules or anything like that?” “Usually, we go for those with high soul quality,” No. 18 said indifferently, “Of course, it’s rare to encounter truly high-quality ones.”

Da Zhe frowned, “So… when it comes to souls, you’re saying purer ones are more valuable, right?

If that’s the case, wouldn’t innocent children be…?” “What?

Are you saying you can’t do it if the target is a child?” No. 18 suddenly let out a cold laugh.

Da Zhe felt a chill rise spontaneously in his heart but decisively nodded, “Sorry, I really can’t bring myself to do it…

But, I’ve heard there are quite a few envoys, I can’t speak for others, but at least, I’ll control myself.” “Not bad.” No. 18 nodded, casually pressing the elevator button, “At least you’re not foolish enough to want to influence the other envoys.

But don’t worry, though some envoys prefer children, there have never really been that many, and now… there’s probably only one left.

Moreover, purity doesn’t equate to high quality, for a soul contains too much.

So, a blank sheet of paper is just a blank sheet; it’s not particularly valuable, since everyone starts as a blank sheet at the beginning.”

Da Zhe quickly kept up, asking, “Then what factors affect the quality?”

No. 18 replied indifferently, “Thoughts, actions, personality, one’s abilities, talents, or their social status, their influence on others, even how much they are loved by people… even the personal changes during a certain period can lead to different quality levels.

For instance, strong emotions… attachment, affection, pain, hatred, and so on.”

At this point, No. 18 suddenly looked at Da Zhe, with a black mist from the hat slightly swirling, “And among these, hatred is the easiest.”

Da Zhe was taken aback, “You mean, set up a situation to make the target harbor hatred…

But didn’t they say that customers buy of their own free will?”

No. 18 sneered coldly, “Free will?

When they say what they want, isn’t it of their free choice?

Remember, Da Zhe, as long as there is demand, there is a place for us…

As long as people remain human and as long as they live, there will inevitably be dissatisfaction.

As long as there are pursuits, there’s no such thing as willing or unwilling.

Greed is something embedded in the soul even before birth.

Even if we, as envoys, set up situations, what’s the harm?

Doesn’t the very existence of this world reflect the grand scheme set by the few?

Laws are similarly created by a minority.

And humans, they just have to live in this ‘reality,’ no?

What, are you planning to fight for justice for all humanity?”

Da Zhe shook his head, “That’s not what I mean…

To be honest, I’m not a clean person either, and I understand the concept of being swept along by circumstances.”

Only then did No. 18 slowly nod, “That’s good to hear.

However, these are just my own principles of action; they might not suit you.

In the club, if you can find good clients, nobody really cares about what methods you use—even if you turn into a Pope.”

Da Zhe chuckled, “A Pope?

What, am I supposed to start preaching or something?” “Who knows,” No. 18 laughed sinisterly, then flicked the sleeves and said indifferently, “We’ve arrived, get out.” “Alright…” Da Zhe didn’t dare inquire more profoundly at that moment, hurriedly catching up, “Then what kind of person is our target this time?” “Ours?” No. 18 sneered, “It’s just me, not us.

I’m only responsible for teaching you the basics, this task is merely a demonstration for you, don’t expect to earn any credit.”

Da Zhe shrugged…

No. 18, in fact, was quite hard to get along with.

He glanced in the direction No. 18 headed…

It was an upscale office building, hosting numerous companies, and right in front hung a sign of an advertising agency.

Yarmel Creative Ad Agency. … …

If working overtime is an indispensable element for the office worker, then for employees of an advertising company, it is even more of a commonplace occurrence—working until daylight or enduring through tens of hours isn’t a rarity. “I’m gonna die… by the way, is there any Red Bull left in the fridge in the break room?”

Two employees using the restroom, one listlessly conversed with the other, “Seems like there isn’t any.

I’ll go downstairs to buy some later.” “Then grab some snacks while you’re at it… by the looks of Manager Zhu, don’t think we’ll be going home for a rest tonight.

Prepare for an all-nighter.” “Yeah, the client’s video was all shot, and the post-production is nearing completion, yet he’s still not satisfied…

Saying it should be aired before Christmas, can it even make it in time?

I think this Zhu Maolin, Manager Zhu, has a screw loose!” “Stop complaining, you know you’re just a corporate slave, right?” The companion shook, pulling up his trousers, not knowing that the restroom door just opened at that moment.

A long-haired young man walked in. “Manager… you’re here too.”

Hopefully, he didn’t overhear, right?

The two gossipy male colleagues both felt a thump in their hearts.

The Manager, Zhu, simply nodded, stating calmly, “I’m just washing my face.” “Oh… then we’ll go back to work.” The two quickly said. “Wait…” Manager Zhu suddenly stopped the two, “Tboy, find me some other ad model’s info, fresh faces, and pure ones.” “Manager, looking for models at this time?” “Yes, I’m planning to reshoot a small segment,” Zhu Maolin nodded. “But, Manager, you didn’t mention any reshooting earlier?” “I just decided.” Zhu Maolin waved, “No need for big names, just get newcomers, affordable ones, even students are fine, as long as the feeling is right.”

But how could anyone know what feeling you’re after…

Manager Zhu!

Yet the designated worker didn’t dare utter a word in protest, only nodded obligingly…

As a corporate slave, unless willing to get fired, there’s really no resisting a leader’s instructions—especially when they’re work-related.

Who cares, anyway, you’re taking the fall if it goes wrong! “Right, I’ll go then.” “By the way, get some food and drinks downstairs too, buy more Red Bull if you want, and ask Amy for reimbursement later from the department funds.” “Got it, got it…”

Looks like he heard us after all.

What a workaholic!
