623: Chapter 36: What We Miss, What We Don’t 623: Chapter 36: What We Miss, What We Don’t When Boss Luo returned with a basket full of osmanthus flowers, a group of elderly people had gathered in the living room.

Some of them Luo Qiu could recognize by name, while others were quite vague in his memory.

These people were discussing something, and Uncle Luo Shan was on the phone, conversing with someone.

Luo Shan was not there; she was in Grandma Xiao Chun’s room… the door was closed.

Most of these people seemed to notice Luo Qiu, but no one greeted him initially.

Instead, Uncle Luo Shan covered the phone and said, “Oh, this is Luo Qiu.”

Then, Luo Shan continued his phone call.

These relatives only nodded at Luo Qiu before returning to their whispered conversations or thoughtful frowns.

Luo Qiu, remembering Grandma Xiao Chun’s words, set down the basket and silently served tea to these senior members of the family tree.

With a smile and hot tea, it wouldn’t seem cold. “Oh… thank you.

I didn’t expect Qi Ge’s child to be so grown up.

It’s been a long time.

Come visit your uncle’s house next time.”

Yes, it was just a matter of initiative.

Whether sincere or not, what Luo Qiu cared about was that it was the elder’s wish. “If there’s a chance,” Luo Qiu responded.

At this moment, an elderly man suddenly said, “Luo Shan, since mom can come back to her senses now, why not ask her what she means?

It’ll save us from arguing and hurting feelings in the future.”

Another man sitting opposite frowned and said, “At this point, can you just calm down?

Over this little patch of land, is it necessary?” “You can’t say that.

With all this development, who knows if it’ll reach us tomorrow?” He emphasized, “Oh, can you guarantee you won’t jump out then?” “Exactly!” An elderly woman sitting beside him chimed in, “Our daughter-in-law works in the government, and she heard rumors that next year around here…”

But before she could finish, she was interrupted—her husband quietly stepped on her toe. “Wait, second sister-in-law… did you really hear any news?” “No, no, it’s just hearsay from outside.” The woman said, “I don’t know if it’s true or not.

Besides, who can say for sure about policy stuff?

I just thought if something happens, we should prepare early.” “Alright, alright, stop talking.

Wait for Luo Shan to ask about the situation.” Luo Shan widened his eyes, “I’ve arranged the hospital, and an ambulance can be sent over.” “I think it’s just a final rally before death,” the woman muttered at this time, “it’s better to start preparing for the aftermath.” “Just say less!”

With several pairs of eyes glaring over, the woman shrank her neck.

Luo Qiu didn’t pay attention and returned to the kitchen early. “What are you looking for?” Luo Shan’s voice suddenly came from behind Luo Qiu. “Uh… flour.” Luo Qiu turned around, “Grandma Xiao Chun said she wanted to make a reunion, so I thought I’d get ready first to save her some effort.”

Luo Shan was puzzled, frowning as she assessed this relative of the same generation she had barely interacted with, asking, “You… don’t seem anxious at all?”

Luo Qiu softly said, “No matter how anxious, some things still need to be done by someone.

Things can’t just stop.” “Rationalist?” Luo Shan looked at Luo Qiu calmly and shook her head, “Regardless, I won’t agree with you just letting grandma be… whether it’s as a doctor or as grandma’s granddaughter.

I hope you discern the priorities.” “Indeed, I didn’t consider your feelings.” Luo Qiu nodded, “I’m sorry.”

Luo Shan felt like hitting air with all her strength, a discomfort that made her unwilling to continue talking with this relative.

She pointed to a cabinet, “The flour is in there, and grandma wants to see you… alone.” “I’ll head over now.”

Watching Luo Qiu leave, Luo Shan involuntarily sighed, suddenly feeling like she had lost—unrelated to identity or status, background or education level, nor social skills.

It was something else missing from her. “Why does it feel like I’m just being unreasonable?” Luo Shan muttered, shook her head, and quickly left the kitchen, heading to the living room—the first place she went after leaving Grandma Xiao Chun’s room.

To her displeasure… grandma wanted to see a distant relative, not her own children. “Can you stop arguing about things that matter and don’t?” Luo Shan’s dissatisfied voice echoed in the living room, “I could hear you arguing in the room just now!

Grandma wants me to tell you that she’s still here!”

Such a strong woman, with eyes that could suppress not only her parents but also other elders. “Shanshan, what’s grandma’s situation?” Luo Shan asked with some tension.

Luo Shan shook her head, “There really isn’t much time… you wouldn’t understand even if I explained the details.

What you know is just a final rally before death.”

Saying this, Luo Shan suddenly glanced at the woman sitting with her neck shrunk, sighed, “Grandma said, tonight everyone should have a meal together.

Then whatever she wants to do, just let her be, don’t ask, don’t say more, just like usual.”

Luo Shan nodded and then made a call, “Tingting, let Chen Hai come over tonight, everyone will eat together.”

Seeing this, the others also silently started making phone calls.

Luo Zheng looked around, “Dad, I’ll drive to town to buy some groceries… buy more.” … “Really?

Have you picked so many osmanthus flowers?” Grandma Xiao Chun looked at Luo Qiu happily, her complexion brightening, “Such a good child, you’ve been a tremendous help.”

Without discussing everything, it was as if the quarrels that seemed to be outside the living room had never happened. “Because I also want to eat the reunion you’ll make, grandma.” “Really?” Grandma Xiao Chun held Luo Qiu’s hand, “By the way, can he come tonight?”

Luo Qiu closed his eyes; after a moment, he quietly said, “Grandma, you know, it’s impossible for him to appear in front of everyone.” “But I always feel like he’s right beside me.” Grandma Xiao Chun sighed softly, “Recently, when I’m muddled, I always feel like someone tells me he’s there.

I feel like my body is getting lighter and lighter.

Oh, and there seems to be a little child, all wet, walking, and crying, it’s so pitiful.” “Let’s make the reunion.” Luo Qiu stood up and said.

Grandma Xiao Chun was stunned, then regained her spirits, laughed, “Alright, let me show you grandma’s skills.” … …

Usually, if Da Zhe didn’t speak, Da Tou felt unable to manage… only the atmosphere in the car was too silent. “By the way, Brother Zhe, did you hear?

Dragon died inside.” Da Tou suddenly said, “I heard he died of illness.

Whether or not that’s true is hard to say…

Alas, in any case, another one we know is gone.”

Da Zhe paused, silently looked at Da Tou, and after a while, his gaze drifted to the rapidly passing road outside the window, murmuring, “Is that so, even Dragon…

Now, it’s only me left.” “Ah?

Brother Zhe, what did you say?” Da Tou couldn’t hear clearly.

Da Zhe shook his head, “Nothing, can you drive faster?

How come this new car is running so slow?

When will we reach the village at this rate?”

Da Tou said helplessly, “Brother Zhe, you wouldn’t know, now there are surveillance cameras on the roads, it’s not like before where you could just speed around!

Once we’re on the village road, I’ll speed up!

Sigh… the times have changed.”

Saying this, Da Tou turned on the car stereo.

Old songs. ——”Wan Chai always show off, I play all the time” ——”Hongxing oversees this area” ——”From the brothel to the gambling den, I see it all” ——”To reach the pinnacle of the local scene” ——”In terms of background, the strongest” ——”In terms of fighting, I don’t admit defeat” ——”Blades and Shadows, let me fight to show my skills for the community” ——”Determined to uphold family honor, not afraid even in death” ——”Let my blood, flow down…” “Blades and Shadows”

Da Zhe reached out and turned off the car stereo, saying the times are different now, what’s there to linger on.
