629: Chapter 42: The One Who Ties the Bell 629: Chapter 42: The One Who Ties the Bell What Da Zhe knew about Master Jin, he had also heard from others when he was young.

This old man was ninety years old, starting his business around the Hu Shen area during the war times, following a boss with the surname Du, having had a legendary story.

Later, he came to this place after much traveling; it’s said this place was originally the ancestral hometown of Master Jin, and he returned here to settle down after the war.

Though he is only living a peaceful retirement in this township now, he wasn’t always here before retiring.

Before his organization disbanded, Master Jin’s influence was not small.

But whether it’s because the old man has become more superstitious lately or not, Da Zhe had some thoughts in mind, so when facing Master Jin’s questions, he just smiled and said, “Old man, no, I don’t believe in those things.” “I knew you would say that.” Master Jin chuckled, then suddenly reached out and grabbed Da Zhe’s arm.

Da Zhe was first stunned, then frowned, thinking to himself that the old man had such great strength that it even hurt a bit.

Instinctively wanting to break free, he found out that facing this ninety-year-old man, he actually couldn’t break free. “This…

Master Jin, you…”

Only then did Master Jin let go.

Da Zhe rubbed his wrist, looked at it, and found that the place where he had been grabbed was already a patch of red.

Shocked, he said, “Old man, you’re still strong as ever, this grip is too much.” “Old, old.” Master Jin waved his hand and said, “Just scare you young people…

Da Zhe, do you wonder why I’m still so strong at ninety?” “Well…

Perhaps you exercise regularly?” Da Zhe thought and said. “Oh?

Go to the park to practice Tai Chi?

And then just go for a walk when there’s nothing to do?” Master Jin asked with amusement. “Master Jin, just tell me, I really can’t guess.” Da Zhe shook his head.

Master Jin chuckled and said, “When I was young, I met a wandering Taoist.

Back then, I was still with Boss Du.

This Taoist was a strange person; perhaps it was my fate that I learned some basic skills from him…

Don’t make that face, it’s not some kind of divine skill, just a way to maintain one’s health, nothing so magical.

But it indeed kept me quite fit, I even slept with a young girl a few days ago, haha.” “Master Jin, you really are still strong in your old age.” Da Zhe didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, but was also incredibly amazed, “But, is there really such a skill?” “Sit down.” Master Jin pointed to a chair next to the Buddhist hall and sat down, then continued, “What?

Do you really think the things passed down from our ancestors are just flashy moves like on TV?

Da Zhe, let me tell you, true masters are hidden, it’s just hard for ordinary people like us to meet them.” “Master Jin…

I don’t understand, why are you telling me these things?” Da Zhe curiously asked. “Da Zhe, aren’t you curious about this health-maintaining skill, don’t you want to learn it?” Master Jin suddenly asked. “I am quite curious about it.” Da Zhe, however, shook his head and said, “But what would I live so long for?

Living is already tiring enough, I’d rather not extend my life.” “All these years.” Master Jin suddenly said, “Including you, I have told this thing to only three people.

One was my son, another one was an old partner who’s been with me for a long time.

But you are the only one who’s unwilling to learn.” “Master Jin, it’s not that I don’t want to give you face.” Da Zhe hurriedly said, “Honestly, I am truly grateful that you would tell me this.

But how to say…

I just don’t know how to explain.” “Are you still holding on to what happened back then?”

Da Zhe silently nodded. “In all these years, I have heard about the things that happened after you got out.” Master Jin sighed and said, “You don’t show up, and don’t contact anyone from the past, only occasionally helping others take the fall, going out, and then going back in.

People say you’re incorrigible, but I can see you’re trying to cut ties with the past, aren’t you?”

Da Zhe remained silent. “The life of fighting and killing isn’t easy.” Master Jin looked at the Guanyin statue in the hall, “My son mastered these skills at a younger age, naturally better than me, so he helped me take over many territories, but in the end?

Still got killed by someone, and my old partner too, in the end, just me left…

Da Zhe, you washed your hands early, so many people opposed, but why did I support you, do you know?” “Master Jin…” “Because I was afraid.” Master Jin sighed, “Afraid of not even being able to find someone I like, who can chat with me in the future.

But you rascal, it’s only because you ran into the trouble with Xiao Yu Cheng that you came to me, right?” “Master Jin, I’m sorry, I really… had no other choice.” “You brat.”

Master Jin glared at Da Zhe, “I know your intentions, you don’t come to me fearing I’d think you’re coming to rely on me, right?

You even had Da Tou send a cake over last year for my birthday.

But Da Tou, that dumb thing, would never remember I love eating peaches, so why was there so much peach pulp in it?

I just bluffed him a little bit, and he told me everything.” “Master Jin…

I just didn’t have the face to come see you.” “Enough.” Master Jin said slowly, “No matter what, Xiao Yu Cheng would still give me some face.

He’s done quite a few dirty things, if he dares to be impolite, this old man won’t mind stepping out for once.

I may be chanting sutras daily, but that doesn’t mean I’ll let others bully my people just like that now.” “Thank you!” Da Zhe immediately stood up, respectfully looking at the old man. “Let’s leave this matter aside for now.” Master Jin’s eyes suddenly brightened at this moment, pressing a hand firmly against Da Zhe’s chest, and then shouted fiercely!

Da Zhe suddenly felt a tremendous force strike him, making him feel as if his insides were flipping, extremely painful, falling to the ground.

At this moment, Da Zhe looked at himself in horror, seeing a grey mist emerge from his body, and eerie voices echoed through the Buddhist hall. “You monster!” Master Jin, holding Buddhist beads in his hand, slapped down fiercely.

With a sudden slap, the water mist dispersed, and a sharp scream echoed, causing Master Jin to be completely thrown back, falling to the ground.

The mist darted onto the floor, transforming into a vague shadow of a child.

At this moment, Master Jin gritted his teeth, pushing with both hands, a soft white light emanating from his palms, striking the shadow again.

With this strike, the shadow dissipated into smoke, and only then did Master Jin stop, sitting on the ground, coughing continuously. “Master Jin, Master Jin!” “It’s nothing… no big deal.” Master Jin’s face was pale, “A little rest will do…

I’m glad you came to find me, otherwise, in one or two more years, I fear I couldn’t handle this vengeful ghost.” “Master Jin, you… you really have this ability!” “Damn it, you little brat, did you think I was just telling a story earlier?” Master Jin exclaimed, gasping and coughing frequently. “I didn’t mean that.” Da Zhe quickly shook his head.

Master Jin said, “But you’re temporarily safe now… just temporarily.

This vengeful ghost has too much resentment, what I dispersed just now was probably only a fraction of its resentment, it won’t be long before it comes back for you again.

If it weren’t for me bringing you to this Buddhist altar and having this string of beads blessed by a high monk in my hand, I couldn’t have saved you.

Da Zhe, after reconciling with Xiao Yu Cheng tonight, you should come here and stay for a while, otherwise it can haunt you again!” “Master Jin.” Da Zhe thought for a while, “You have this ability… can you, can you help it find peace?”

Master Jin was taken aback, “I just saw this piece of resentment show its true form, it’s the shape of a child…

Could it be the one who drowned back then?”

Da Zhe nodded. “He who tied the bell must untie it…” Master Jin nodded, “Alright, this old man will help you through this disaster, consider it my thanks for remembering to bring me a birthday cake!” … …

The bell suddenly rang, and in the dimly lit club lobby, the quietly sitting maid suddenly opened her eyes.

And the dim surroundings gradually lit up.

The white candles on the sconces on the walls ignited one by one automatically, as a mass of black mist hovered in midair like a tornado, then slowly descended. “Black Soul No.18, greetings to Ms.

You Ye.” “No.18, is there something you need?” You Ye looked at Black Soul No.18… just looked.

Black Soul No.18 didn’t particularly mind—this doll appeared in the club after her, always with this icy attitude, though lately, there have been a few more smiles, but essentially she remained the same cold doll Black Soul No.18 knew. “Is the master not here?” Black Soul No.18 asked cautiously. “The master has some matters to attend to, left for a few days,” You Ye said calmly, “Just tell me what you want.” “It’s like this,” Black Soul No.18 said directly, “I want to get a certain material, preferably something that can work as a raw material in conjunction with The Book of the Dead’s magic.

What’s the exchange price?”

You Ye tilted her head to scrutinize Black Soul No.18, her blue eyes glowing with a chilling light, making Black Soul No.18’s heart involuntarily jump, “No.18, you’re still playing the game of creating a mage, huh?

Who’s caught your eye this time?

That professor?

Or is it Wang Yuechuan?”

Black Soul No.18 chuckled sinisterly, “Two scorpions fighting, it doesn’t matter who wins.”

You Ye nodded, then said, “The material you want, there’s a piece of it in this city.

It’s a black diamond.

It’s currently in the hands of a businessman’s son who just inherited a fortune, named Liu Zixing, a compulsive gambler.

You don’t need to exchange for it, just get some money and buy it from this businessman’s son.

For money, he’ll sell anything.

Or you could leak this to those two scorpions and see if they will cross the line for power.” “That’s great,” Black Soul No.18 nodded, “Then I will not disturb Ms.

You Ye.”

Harboring a master… was the usual procedure for most Black Soul envoys.

Black Soul No.18 thought, even with a new master, it seems Ms.

You Ye hasn’t changed her view on this approach, has she?

Still the same as before. “Off you go.” The maid nodded.

After the Black Soul envoy left, the lights in the club lobby extinguished one by one, while the maid remained in her original seat—just like before. “I wonder when he’ll return.”

Though it’s only been three days… it feels so lonely.

This feeling…

You Ye gently held her chest and slowly closed her eyes. “Master…”
