632: Chapter 45: Settling Accounts After Autumn 632: Chapter 45: Settling Accounts After Autumn Early in the morning, Master Jin collected some Chao Yang’s dew from the flowers and plants outside the villa, dissolved a piece of cinnabar, and wrote numerous talismans, pasting them inside and out on the pot sealed with the ghost, taking every precaution before handing the pot to Da Zhe.

“Remember, never peel off the talismans on this, otherwise we will both be in danger.” Master Jin looked very pale and seemed weak.

Da Zhe carefully held it with both hands and brought it forward.

“When you place it at Sister Lin’s house, you must hide it well and place it in a spot that gets sunlight every day, preferably facing directly east,” Master Jin reminded again.

“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to do it.” Da Zhe nodded.

“And take this scripture, read it to Sister Lin and help her memorize it, she should chant it once a day in the morning and evening,” Master Jin gave Da Zhe a booklet, “Sister Lin is the mother of this ghost, and as long as she sincerely chants it daily, it’ll be more effective than just leaving it with me.”

“Master Jin, Da Zhe owes you one!”

Master Jin shook his head saying, “Actually, Da Zhe, even if you hadn’t mentioned it, I was planning to send the pot to Sister Lin anyway.

But since you brought it up first, let’s do it your way…

You must know, the power of a parent’s heart cannot be underestimated.

The Daoist Magic of Heaven and Earth, cannot compare to the genuine human emotions in the world.

After a few days, when I’ve rested, I’ll make some Fu Water to send over, to wipe the pot daily and speed up the purification…

As for how you get Sister Lin to chant every day, you’ll have to figure that out.”

“But Master Jin, no matter how I say…”

Elder Jin shook his head, waved his hand and said, “Alright, let’s not talk about this anymore…

I’m tired and need to rest.

Da Tou, you drive Da Zhe over.

Been going at it all night, my old bones aren’t going to hold up.”

Master Jin massaged his aching back as he slowly and coughing, supported himself up the stairs.

Da Tou’s beloved Passat soon drove out of the villa.

Master Jin sat alone in his room, in his Taishi chair, slowly rocking, half asleep.

He suddenly sighed, “Karma…”

The old man couldn’t help but recall twenty-some years ago, back in the past…

At that time, fighting over territory, black on black, he didn’t know how much he violated his conscience, and the gang fights resulted in heavy casualties.

As for the reservoir they built, it was a naturally convenient place, the best for disposing of bodies…

But Master Jin didn’t plan to talk about these things…

to anyone.

He didn’t care if other old men wanted to open up now, he intended to take these secrets to the grave.

He habitually wanted to count his prayer beads, but then realized the beads had shattered.

Master Jin slowly closed his eyes.

“Master Yang Taizi, you said I have no affinity with immortals, I guess that’s true…”

It all seemed like self-deception, and cheating others.

…

…

In the car, Da Zhe held the sealed pot in silence, Da Tou wanted to lighten the mood but didn’t know what to say, so he simply said, “I say, Brother Zhe, since we’ve settled such a big hassle, how about the two of us go for some skewers tonight?

My treat!

We haven’t had drinks together for ages!”

“Da Tou, stop up ahead, I need to buy some mung bean cakes, Sister Lin likes them,” Da Zhe suddenly said.

Da Tou sighed and silently pulled over by the roadside.

Da Zhe wrapped the pot with his coat, and since leaving Master Jin’s villa, he hadn’t let it out of his hands.

“Then I’ll go use that public restroom over there, been holding it in since the morning…” Da Tou said, then got out of the car and walked away.

Da Zhe didn’t say anything, just nodded and went into the cake shop.

…

“A box of mung bean cakes, twelve!” The lady selling cakes handed over the packaged cakes, just about to take payment, when her expression suddenly changed.

Da Zhe looked bewildered, and in the moment of his surprise, he felt his shoulders being firmly grasped by two hands…

Da Zhe turned his head and frowned instantly.

Because he saw two uniformed police officers standing behind him.

“Comrades, is there something wrong?”

One of the policemen said, “Are you Wei Dazhe?”

Da Zhe nodded.

The other policeman directly said, “Wei Dazhe, we need you to come with us.

Yesterday there was another theft in Fuyang Residential Area, someone claimed to have seen you sneaking around.

So please come with us to assist in the investigation!”

“Comrades, you must be mistaken?” Da Zhe said seriously, “There’s no way I was at Fuyang Residential Area last night, I was at a nursing home, I have people who can vouch for me!”

“Whether there’s proof or not, you need to come with us, face off with the person who claims to have seen you.”

“Comrades, there must be some misunderstanding here!” Da Zhe frowned saying, “Besides, I have urgent things to do, really!”

“Wei Dazhe!

Please cooperate with us!

No tricks!” The policeman suddenly shouted loudly.

Da Zhe took a deep breath, nodded and said, “Okay, but can I drop something off, it’s outside in the car, my friend’s.

I can come with you.”

“Drop what?” The policeman immediately barked, “What are you holding so tightly…

Isn’t it stolen goods?”

“Comrades, this is absolutely not!

Really not!” Da Zhe suddenly panicked.

“Hand it over!”

“Don’t come close!

Nobody touch it!!!!” Da Zhe glared angrily.

The two policemen immediately tensed up, shouting, “Wei Dazhe, what do you want to do!

This is a public street, and we’re police!

If you refuse to cooperate, don’t blame us!”

“Fine, I’ll go with you, but this really isn’t stolen goods.” Da Zhe opened the coat wrapped around the pot, “You see, does this look like stolen goods?”

“What is this?”

“Ashes…

a friend’s, I’m about to return it to their family.

If you don’t believe me, I’ll open it for you to see.” Da Zhe replied calmly, intending to open it.

Seeing these ominous ashes, the two policemen were slightly cautious, and noticing the pot covered with talismans, their apprehension increased, one policeman scoffed, “No need.

Whether it’s stolen or not, bring it back to investigate…

Take him!”

One policeman ushered Da Zhe into the police car parked on the roadside, while the other made a call outside.

A flattering smile.

“Hello…

Elder Xiao, just like you said, this Wei Dazhe is hanging out with Da Tou.

As soon as Da Tou’s car showed up, we noticed…

Wei Dazhe is now in our car.

President Xiao, we’re taking Wei Dazhe back for interrogation now, do you have any other instructions?”

“Don’t be too extreme.

This kid has someone backing him, if you make it look too ugly, I’ll lose face.

You guys just interrogate properly, then lock him up for two or three days, say you’ve clarified things, then let him go, just teach him a slight lesson, and afterwards pretend nothing happened.”

The policeman chuckled, “No worries, plenty of theft cases, and he’s a repeat offender, even if we keep him longer it’s fine!

We’ll handle it well.”

“Alright, next time when I have a chance to dine with your director, I’ll put in a few good words.

Remember, it’s your job, work diligently, and it’s got nothing to do with me, Xiao.

You police offer cracking a case by first targeting repeat offenders is quite normal thinking, right?”

“Yes yes, President Xiao, you’re absolutely right!

We’re working diligently!

So we’ll take Wei Dazhe back now!”

“Go ahead.”

Xiao Yu Cheng hung up his phone, feeling pleased, opened a bottle of red wine at home… how to put it?

Even if Da Zhe has Master Jin protecting him, and Xiao Yu Cheng doesn’t want to overdo it…

But if he didn’t teach this trouble-making Da Zhe a lesson, Xiao Yu Cheng would be unhappy.

No other reason, just unhappy.

“Just enjoy a few days, Wei Da Zhe…

When you get out, if you don’t come looking for trouble, neither will I bother you!

Let’s just not cross each other!”
