Building a Technological Power Starting with the Type 59 missile and Going Astray in Technological Development

Chapter 171 Reporting the development of the J-10 fighter to the top military officials of Yan StateChapter 171 Reporting the development of the J-10 fighter to the top military officials of Yan State
Lin Chenran and a group of senior executives of the 077 Mechanical Arsenal stood in front of the complex building, watching solemnly as the design and development team of the J-10 fighter jet slowly left.

When the last car disappeared in the distance, Lin Chenran turned around, looked at the senior executives behind him and said, ”Okay, everyone go back to work, we still have a lot of things to do.”

His voice was calm and firm, giving people an inexplicable sense of power.

As a result, everyone at the 077 Mechanical Arsenal dispersed and returned to their jobs.

Lin Chenran walked into his office alone, closed the door, sat quietly in a chair, thinking about future plans.

Especially the research on radar and the power output of aircraft.

Time flies, and a week has passed in the blink of an eye.

Song Wen came to the military headquarters of Yan State and found the senior military leaders.

He was holding a thick document with the words ”latest design and development plan for the J-10 fighter jet” printed on it.

The top military officials took the document and began to read it carefully.

As they read further, their expressions gradually became serious.

”Is this your Chengfei Military Industry Company’s new plan for the J-10 fighter jet?” asked a senior military official.

Song Wen nodded and said, ”Yes, this plan is proposed by us after careful consideration. I hope you will approve it.”

After a while, one of the senior military officials asked: ”I noticed that the power system and radar system in this plan have been greatly improved. What are the considerations for these improvements?”

Song Wen took a deep breath and replied: ”Commander, these improvements are based on our research and analysis of international advanced fighter aircraft technology.”

“There are so many aspects that hadn’t been considered before.”

After hearing this, the senior military officials nodded slightly to show their understanding.

In fact, the Yan State military was not so satisfied with the J-10 fighter jet design plan of Chengfei Military Industry Company.

But there is no good design and development plan.

Also, because of engines and radars, Yan Country is really at a backward stage.

Especially active phased array radar, Yan Country has no relevant research at all.

The technology related to active phased array radar is very advanced and is strictly blocked abroad.

No relevant technology has been leaked at all.

At this time, another senior military official said calmly, ”We have not yet mastered the source phased array radar technology. I wonder if your Chengfei Military Industry Company has any related projects in progress?”

Song Wen replied directly: ”Commander, you should know that it will take a long time from the development of the J-10 fighter to the final product. I firmly believe that by then China will have its own active phased array radar technology.”

Then, another senior military official from Yan State raised a question: ”Then, have you considered the cost issue? Will such a large-scale improvement lead to excessive costs? After all, there is a huge price gap between foreign third-generation fighters and second-generation fighters.”

The price of foreign third-generation fighter jets is much higher than that of second-generation fighter jets, and it can even be said that the difference is huge.

Faced with this question, Song Wen responded with a helpless smile: ”Commander, the price of the third-generation fighter must be very expensive. If you want to reduce the cost, it is almost impossible.”

Since we are pursuing the high performance and advanced technology of third-generation fighter jets, we must pay the corresponding price and must not be too frugal in terms of costs.

Today’s third-generation fighter jets are known as technological fighter jets! Their existence has brought about earth-shaking changes in modern air combat.

In air combat, the third-generation fighter jets have demonstrated unparalleled combat effectiveness and can be said to be invincible.

Once, a third-generation fighter and five second-generation fighters met unexpectedly in the air. The result of this air battle was no surprise. The third-generation fighter easily defeated its opponent in the encounter and successfully shot down five second-generation fighters.

The most important thing is that it did not suffer any damage at all, and like an elegant dancer, it left the air combat field gracefully.

In comparison, the five second-generation fighters were not so lucky. None of them survived and all were shot down.

The victory in this air battle greatly stimulated the enthusiasm and determination of the Yan State military to develop third-generation fighter jets.

Only by mastering the most advanced technology can we safeguard the security of our country’s airspace.

No matter how high the research and development costs are, they decided to go all out and develop their own third-generation fighter.

”Does our Chengfei Military Industry Company have any ideas about the engine?”

“Can the AL-31FN turbofan engine be successfully introduced?”

“If we increase investment in the Taihang turbofan engine, can we successfully develop it?”

These questions always linger in their minds.

The aircraft engine is known as the ”heart of a fighter jet” and directly affects the performance and combat capability of a fighter jet.

The AL-31FN turbofan engine is the ”heart” of Russia’s new third-generation fighter, the Su-27 fighter.

Advanced aviation engine technology is a country’s core secret. How could Russia give it up so easily?
So they certainly won’t sell the technology for the AL-31FN turbofan engine, let alone the related production line.

This involves national security and strategic interests, and no country will easily compromise.

The Russians may sell finished AL-31FN turbofan engines.

Although this cannot fundamentally solve the problem, it can at least temporarily alleviate Yan Country’s demand for high-performance engines.

Yan Country’s J-10 fighter jets are still facing the dilemma of “lack of heart”.

Without sufficient engine supply, the production and equipment speed of the J-10 fighter jet will be seriously affected, and may even lead to delays in the entire project.

Faced with this difficult problem, Song Wen was extremely helpless.

As an engineer, he is well aware of the importance of independent research and development, and also hopes to equip the J-10 fighter with his own engine.

But the reality is very cruel. The Taihang turbofan engine cannot be used in the J-10 fighter in the short term.

At present, purchasing AL-31FN turbofan engines seems to be the only option.

”Commander, I understand your concerns, but the current situation is indeed very tricky. We need to find a solution as soon as possible, otherwise the development of the J-10 fighter will be seriously hindered.” Song Wen said bitterly.

He also wanted the J-10 fighter to use its own engine, but the reality forced him to make some compromises.

Although he was full of reluctance, Song Wen understood that purchasing the AL-31FN turbofan engine at this time was only a stopgap measure.

Only through continuous efforts and investment can we overcome the current difficulties and replace the J-10 fighter jet with its own ”heart” as soon as possible.

It is necessary to introduce the AL-31FN turbofan engine.

……

After Lin Chenran returned to the office, he began to arrange various matters. He will head north to the Russian Bear in the near future.
