Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 783: Summoning Nathanʼs Fifth Familiar

”I see. Thatʼs quite concerning. An ancient monster that has been sealed underneath the sea.” Duke Coline squinted his eyes after receiving the report about the finding.

”Duke Coline. His Majesty requests you to immediately head there and prevent the seal from being lifted.”

Duke Coline fell into deep thought. He couldnʼt help but glance at the vice commander of the city. ”Has the duchess gone already?”

”According to the report, she started diving an hour ago.”

”…” Duke Coline pinched the bridge of his nose. ”Then itʼs already too late.”

All the people in the room furrowed their eyebrows.

Duke Coline continued, ”If itʼs truly the monster you described, itʼs already too late. However, I donʼt think Duchess Lena will go down without a fight.

”Hence, I will remain in this city for a bit. It might even turn into a battlefield, so…” Duke Colineʼs gaze shifted to Floraʼs mother, Rena Ivorial. ”Madam Rena. How about evacuating with the people?”

Rena turned solemn before shaking her head. ”Iʼm sorry. Even though I donʼt have the talent to become a summoner, I donʼt think itʼs appropriate for me to leave this city.

”My sister is the one protecting this city, and I am the queen of this country. If I keep running away, the people will lose their trust in us. They believe that weʼre just cowards who can only run. When they have to fight, they will lose their morale, thinking that weʼll just run again.

”I know that Iʼm not a combatant, but please allow me to remain in this city. You may use me as you see fit. Use my existence to raise the peopleʼs morale.”

Duke Coline smiled wryly. ”If you stay here, I need to protect you as well, you know? I might not be able to unleash everything I have.”

”I see.” Rena looked pained. ”In the end, Iʼm still useless.”

”Please donʼt say that. Your thought and courage alone are enough for us. If you wish to help us, then I hope you can arrange and control the citizens so that they evacuate properly.” Duke Coline shook his head. ”Thatʼs what we currently need.”

Although she felt powerless because she wasnʼt able to do anything, Rena had no other choice. She accepted the task from Duke Coline and immediately exited the room.

Duke Coline then stood up and walked to the balcony. ”I should strengthen this city as well.”

”Duke?” The vice commander looked shocked. ”Even though itʼs too late, shouldnʼt you go to the sea and help…”

Before he finished his words, Duke Coline shook his head. ”No. If I go right now, I have to meet that monster in the sea, where I canʼt utilize my full ability.

”Besides, the duchess is smart. If she is ever at a disadvantage, she will definitely retreat to this city right away.

”And if nothing has happened yet, that means staying a bit longer in this city wonʼt change the outcome. I will just go there after strengthening the city.

”Although this monster is scary, this is a legend passed down from almost five centuries ago. Itʼs the beginning of the summoner era.

”During that time, not a lot of summoners have reached this stage. In fact, most of them are having a hard time, even against warrior class aliens.

”On the other hand, humans continue to develop their strength and eventually, weʼve reached this stage. All the world class summoners like me should have no problem in defeating an elite class alien.

”Thatʼs why you shouldnʼt underestimate the duchess. Even if she canʼt win, she definitely has the ability to escape. Follow me. Bring the cores you have and place them in a strategic position. I also need you to arrange a few things for me.”

The vice commander took a deep breath before firmly nodding. ”Understood.”

Duke Coline hurriedly jumped outside, heading directly to the center of the city. He stood on top of a roof where they put a massive bell.

The vice commander brought out the cores in their reserve and arranged it according to Duke Colineʼs instruction.

Once it was done, the vice commander stayed beside him. Although he was the vice commander, even Lena had to follow Duke Coline in this situation.

After all, the man standing before him was one of the five world class summoners the kingdom had.

Duke Coline tapped the ground with the back of his wand as his ena gently gushed out of his body, spreading all over the city.

Duke Coline just stayed quiet for a whole minute as his ena kept spreading. Once he was done, Duke Coline finally chanted, ”Please grant the protection to your weak follower. The shield that blocks the impending doom.”

All of a sudden, a massive magic circle appeared on top of the city as it expanded so large that it covered the entire city.

”!!!” The vice commander couldnʼt help but raise his head and drop his jaw. He had seen the duchessʼ full strength, but even his wildest imagination couldnʼt picture the duchess having the strength to cover the full city. ʼSo… this is the man who is known as Grand Magician, Her Highness Floraʼs teacher, Coline Tash.ʼ

”Grade 7 Defense Magic, Elios Blessing!”

The magic circle shone brightly, producing a curtain that enveloped the entire city.

”With the amount of ena put in there, it should be able to protect the city from 5 powerful attacks of an elite class alien. Arrange the rest. I will head to the dock, since that will be our main battlefield. Once youʼre ready, I will head to the duchess to see whatʼs going on.”

”Yes.” The vice commander nodded. As he was about to leave, the duke suddenly grabbed his shoulder, stopping him. ”Duke?”

Duke Colineʼs gaze focused on the sea, which caused the vice commander to follow his gaze, finding a big dot in the sky.

”Thatʼs…” Duke Coline couldnʼt help but smile. ”…not an alien. Itʼs a whale?”

…

A few moments ago.

After returning to the ship, Nathan immediately headed straight to the summoning circle Flora had made.

”What are you doing? You said you have a plan, but why are you summoning a familiar right now?” The summoners under Lena couldnʼt help but get confused. They thought Nathan had something brilliant, but with Nathanʼs strength, there was no way he could summon a beast that could do anything against that powerful alien.

Selena ignored them and simply put the bones on top of the summoning circle. Meanwhile, Flora tried to persuade them. ”I donʼt know whatʼs going on as well, but please trust him. If anything happens to my aunt, I will take the responsibility, so…”

The summoners looked like they wanted to slap Nathan, but because of Flora, they had no choice but to stop for a moment.

Nathan, on the other hand, had focused his attention solely on the summoning circle. While pouring his ena into the summoning circle, Nathan began the summoning ritual.

”By my name, Nathan, heed my call and come forth to this world, Oʼ creature of the northern sea. Manifest and show your majestic appearance to this world.”

The ena enveloped the bones swiftly and shone brightly. Normally, it would have formed a figure, but to everyoneʼs surprise, the ena disappeared together with the bones, leaving nothing but the summoning circle.

”Huh?”

”Did it fail?”

”But I saw the boyʼs ena getting sucked into the summoning circle.”

The summoners were baffled. Even Flora smiled wryly, wondering how she should explain it to them if Nathan truly failed to call a familiar. At the same time, this was the first time she witnessed this phenomenon.

”Where is your familiar, Nathan?” Flora couldnʼt help but ask.

All of a sudden, the sky that had been covered by ash clouds suddenly turned bright as all the people lifted up their heads. They soon dropped their jaws, witnessing something they had never seen before.

There was a 100-meter (328 feet) long whale dispersing the ash cloud and gradually falling toward them. Their ship was quite big, but compared to this whale, it was nothing.

All the people had their faces turn pale as they couldnʼt help but imagine what would happen if the whale suddenly dropped on top of them.

Nidhogg dropped his jaw. ”Arenʼt you supposed to fly in the sky?”

”Oi! Recall. Recall him right now!” Fenrir shouted.

”Summoner!” Anubis slapped Nathan on the shoulder.

Nathan wanted to cry and laugh at the same time. ”Oh… shit.”
