Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 757: Cthulhu

Nathan and Flora reached the coastal city of Fularia in the blink of an eye thanks to the teleportation circle.

To their surprise, the atmosphere in the city was actually much livelier than in any cities they had seen so far.

Even though the world situation had worsened, the condition of this city seemed to be normal, as if nothing had happened.

The children, while wearing masks, still played outside. Some people took care of the ash on the street. Their mothers were still going around the town to take care of the family.

”Hmm…” Nathan couldnʼt help but squint his eyes, observing them.

Flora seemed to notice the difference as well, even though she had yet to show any reaction.

However, their observation had to be interrupted by a monotonous voice coming from the front.

”Your highness, Sir Nathan. Please step away from the teleportation circle.”

”!!!” Both of them couldnʼt help but turn their heads, following the direction of the voice. There, they saw a maid. Nathan could feel the danger emanating from this maidʼs body. He felt he had sensed this kind of danger before.

ʼSonia?ʼ Her image suddenly flashed in Nathanʼs mind, making him realize what was actually going on. Even though her body didnʼt give the aura of a summoner, he knew this person was hiding it deliberately.

She was definitely not an ordinary maid. Nathan was convinced.

On the other hand, Flora recognized her and immediately ran toward her with a big smile on her face. ”May! So, youʼre the one coming to get us.”

”Yes, Your Highness.” She extended her hand to the side, showing the carriage parked on the side of the street. ”The carriage is this way.”

Nathan and Floraʼs gazes met. Flora signaled to him to just follow and deal with whatever was on his mind later.

Since it wasnʼt really a problem, Nathan nodded his head and walked into the carriage. Of course, Nathan didnʼt know whether Flora knew this maidʼs true identity or not. Hence, he summoned Jinwu behind him and let him observe the situation.

As expected, with much sharper senses than him, Jinwu instantly recognized the real threat and observed them from afar.

Fortunately, it seemed his instinct was wrong.

Once the three of them entered the carriage, Flora immediately introduced the maid. ”This is my motherʼs maid, May. She has been training with my aunt. After all, the life of the royalties is not that harmonious.

”My aunt places May near my mother so that she can protect her. May is extremely strong, you know?”

”I see.” Nathan let out a sigh of relief.

”Iʼm honored by your high opinion of me, Your Highness.” May politely nodded her head. ”Still, Iʼm more impressed by Sir Nathan. It appears my training is still lacking. Sir Nathan… Pardon my rudeness, but you must have seen through my identity, correct?”

”What?” Flora looked shocked. ”Seriously?”

Nathan nodded. ”Iʼm not aware of everything, but I know that youʼre dangerous. I donʼt know whether that danger is pointing at us or anything else around us.”

”I canʼt even sense anything from her.” Flora blinked her eyes a few times.

”Well, letʼs just say that Iʼm already used to it.” Nathan thought it was normal. He had once felt the sense of Fenrir by borrowing his ability, he was also used to Soniaʼs ability, and last but not least, his senses had been honed by the divine beasts around him. So, it was normal for him to reach that level of sense.

May, on the other hand, bowed. ”Iʼm impressed. Itʼs an honor to meet you, sir Nathan. I have been told about your status as Her Highnessʼ fiance.”

”Fiance…Isnʼt it moving too fast?” Flora smiled wryly, but her eyes still took a peek at Nathanʼs expression, wondering what he had in mind.

”Fiance, huh?” Nathan smiled. ”Your word… doesnʼt sound light, you know?”

”!!!” May didnʼt expect a warning. It seemed Nathan had realized her intention in probing him with that word. Nathan was already aware that they knew about Floraʼs right to inherit the throne.

As a maid of this caliber, May should understand a certain level of politics. Hence, that word was a little inappropriate for a lot of reasons.

May hurriedly apologized. ”Iʼm sorry. I have overstepped my bounds. Once again, I am May. I have the pleasure of escorting both of you back to the duchessʼ mansion.”

Nathan nodded while taking a peek at the city through the window. ”Still, this city looks quite lively compared to other cities.”

”Thatʼs right. We have gone to several cities, but this one functions almost like normal.” Flora almost forgot about it. ”How can this city act like nothing happens?”

May shook her head. ”They donʼt act like nothing happens. Itʼs true that due to the ash cloud, there are some inconveniences.

”However, this city is… how do I say this? Unique? Unlike any other cities, this is one of the few coastal cities in the kingdom.

”Our main job isnʼt about farming. Itʼs fishing. While the ash cloud has darkened our world, the sea is not covered in ash. Hence, the fishermen can still go to the sea and find fish.

”There is indeed a lot more alien activity, but it also makes the army of the duchy more active in patrolling the sea.

”Hence, it can be said to be livelier than ever. Itʼs just due to the ash cloud, we have a hard time keeping track of the time. In addition, there are also other problems caused by the ash cloud.

”So, while itʼs not really perfect, this city is able to pass this situation much easier than the rest of the cities in the kingdom.” May explained.

”So, thatʼs how it is.” Flora nodded in understanding.

Nathan, on the other hand, stared outside without any response. It took him a minute before he said a single word that confused them, as they had never heard of that word before.

”Cthulhu.”
