Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 679: Problem

”Shi—!”

Qill couldnʼt help but grit his teeth as the bullets pierced his body. He couldnʼt even release another sound as several bullets hit his head, piercing through his skull, eyes, and even nose.

”We should hurry and catch up. There are still 34 people who are not dead because they havenʼt reached this alley,” Fenrir reminded Nathan as soon as the familiars in his grasp disappeared.

”No. Thereʼs no need to worry about them. After all, theyʼre facing a much more formidable opponent in a place like this.”

”!!!”

…

As Nathan said, the people who survived ran as quickly as possible. As long as they returned to the base, they should be fine.

ʼThereʼs nothing? Qill must be stalling him. We have to report to the boss immediately.ʼ One of them thought while glancing back and finding no sign of Nathan.

However, his vision darkened as though something was covering the sun. Yet that darkness lasted for a split second before a much brighter light entered his eyes.

”Ugh? What?” The guy panicked, feeling an intense heat from the front.

When he raised his head, he could see a golden bird shining as if the sun itself had descended from the sky.

”All of you are out of luck.” Jinwu controlled his strength a bit before flapping his wings.

He sent that intense heat forth as all the people panicked. They instinctively extended their heads forward or raised their arms.

But it was useless. The moment the intense heat reached them, their bodies were incinerated. No, their bodies were actually getting reduced to ashes at the speed where they couldnʼt even feel the pain.

The intense heat would have melted the buildings around if not for Jinwu controlling his strength.

Still, not a single man managed to survive the attack. Even some of them had their ash reduced to nothing.

”Hmph. This should be enough.” Jinwu squinted his eyes, checking the area. ”There doesnʼt seem to be any other person here.”

Once he confirmed everyoneʼs death, Jinwu examined the damage to the area, considering they might need to use this path again to lure some people. If it was destroyed, Nathan might blame him.

”It should be fine, right? There are some traces, but if theyʼre chasing after a thief, they should have a smaller vision, which makes them not notice. The soil can be replaced easily as well…” Jinwu muttered.

”Thereʼs no need to do that anymore,” Nathanʼs voice echoed from the opposite side.

”!!!” Jinwu was startled to find Nathan and Fenrir already done with their job. ”Summoner… What do you mean by that?”

Nathan pointed at Fenrir. ”Weʼve got a problem. It appears that before coming here, they reported their suspicion and our enemy is taking that suspicion much more seriously than I originally thought.

”Theyʼre sending more people to deal with us. There is another problem…” Nathan looked annoyed. ”Fenrir was listening to them before we attacked these guys. It turned out their real target was not us this time. It was the children.”

”!!!” Jinwu widened his eyes in shock. ”The kids are out there… No. Are they trying to aim for their base?”

”Most likely.” Nathan nodded. ”We have only gotten 400 people so far. Iʼm not sure how many people they bring for this one, but even then, we can probably only kill 500 people at most before the last battle.

”At this rate, we canʼt eliminate 70% of their force.” Nathan gritted his teeth. ”This is annoying.”

”Knowing you. You should have expected things would go wrong, right?” Jinwu asked.

”Yeah. Itʼs just… things will get much more annoying from here.” Nathan nodded. ”Jinwu. Go and check their number and strength. Report to me as quickly as possible. If possible, keep track of their route. Even if they want to come here, theyʼre not going to rush here to avoid some traps.

”Fenrir. You go to Anubis and Iris. Tell them about our current situation. Weʼll regroup with them. I donʼt think Iris will panic, but if she becomes a bit of a problem, calm her down.

”Itʼs not the first time we experience this anyway. Tell her not to worry about the kids. Instead, I will need her help with other things later.

”I will pick Flora up and set another countermeasure. It might lead to an all-out brawl, but I donʼt think we can afford to hide our identity any longer.” Nathan sighed.

Fenrir and Jinwu nodded as they immediately headed to their destination. They kept Nathanʼs warning in mind. In the end, Nathan might choose a sneak attack. It was their job as a divine beast to understand his intention and coordinate without him directly ordering them.

Nathan, on the other hand, headed back to the building and informed the kids first and led them away before regrouping with Flora.

Surprisingly, Flora wasnʼt shocked by the news. In fact, Selena and Sera might have influenced her too much, especially with Nathanʼs existence being the biggest jinx.

Flora had expected something to go wrong. She just didnʼt expect it would take this long.

As a result, Flora had been conserving a lot of her ena in the past two days.

At the same time, Iris might be shaken by the information, but she regained her composure quickly. By the time Flora and Nathan reached their position, Iris had already calmed herself down. In fact, she took the initiative to ask Nathan about what she had to do.

As someone who grew up in the Duncante family, she had experienced a lot of things, especially when something went wrong. In the end, stuff like expeditions or defensive battles was prone to problems… Whether it was the mercenary deserting, the soldier disobeying command, or even an unexpected situation, she had grown accustomed to seeing it.

With her condition, Nathan could easily change his plan.

Although he had yet to hear the report from Jinwu, both Nathan and Iris knew that their target was that little hut where the children always gathered. And this time, Nathan would be the one on the defensive.
