Stop Fooling the Us, China Really is Doing This!

Chapter 332 Listen to your uncle’s advice, or you won’t be able to handle it!Chen Jian was stunned for a moment, pointed at himself, and replied, ”That’s me.”

The man nodded, his tone still calm but carrying an unquestionable air as he said, ”Please, come with me!”

”We need your help. Besides you, we also need your team to come with us.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Jian was instantly dumbfounded. He muttered to himself, unable to figure out what was happening. Why would someone from the National Secret Service Bureau be looking for him?

However, he didn’t dare ask too many questions; after all, the other party’s mysterious and serious status was clear. He obediently nodded, then led his team out of the company with the man and boarded two very inconspicuous vans.

These two vans looked incredibly ordinary, so ordinary that it made one feel suspicious. They felt just like the kind of cargo vans or unlicensed taxis one sees everywhere.

One van actually had the words ”Tire Repair” written on the outside in large letters, while the other had ”Tianjin Twist” written on it. No matter how you looked at it, it didn’t look like a vehicle for a state department!

This made Chen Jian and his team members feel increasingly confused and anxious.

After everyone got in, the staff member from the Secret Service Bureau threw a stack of documents out of their bag and said expressionlessly, ”Please sign these confidentiality agreements!”

Although Chen Jian and his team were full of doubts, they didn’t dare to refuse, so they obediently took the documents and signed their names.

After signing, Chen Jian really couldn’t suppress his curiosity and cautiously asked the person who brought them: ”May I ask, where are you taking us, and what do you need us to do?”

The staff member replied indifferently, ”We don’t know either. Someone will tell you when you get there.”

The other members of the team looked at each other in dismay upon hearing this, their anxiety deepening. Someone couldn’t help but whisper:

”These aren’t bad guys in disguise, right? Does our Dragon Country even have a Secret Service Bureau? How come I’ve never heard of it?”

”Exactly. What if we’re being kidnapped? We’re done for! I heard scammers have very sophisticated kidnapping methods now. Someone set up a company, used a team-building trip as a pretext, took the employees out for two days, and ended up driving them straight across the border, sending everyone in the van to Northern Myanmar. Just thinking about it is terrifying.”

It would have been better if they hadn’t brought it up; the more they talked, the more scared they became. The nervous atmosphere spread through the van like a plague, leaving the Secret Service Bureau staff member baffled. They said, laughing and crying, ”Take a good look at where this is. Have you ever seen a kidnapper take you to a school?”

Everyone finally came to their senses and looked around, discovering that they had already entered a school. Looking closer, it was actually the National Defense University.

Seeing this, the worry that had been hanging over their heads vanished without a trace. They thought to themselves, any kidnapper with a brain wouldn’t choose to commit a crime at a school, let alone a place like the National Defense University.

Chen Jian saw this and gave an embarrassed, sheepish smile, saying apologetically, ”Sorry! It’s our first time, so we’re inevitably a bit nervous!”

”Yeah, first time being summoned by your department!”

Just as they were talking, a student on the side of the road outside the car waved at them, looking very enthusiastic, as if greeting them.

However, the Secret Service Bureau staff member acted as if they didn’t see it and drove right past.

Chen Jian was curious and couldn’t help but ask, ”Why was that student waving at us?”

The staff member said nonchalantly, ”They probably think we’re selling twists and want to buy some. We see this all the time, don’t worry about it.”

Upon hearing this, everyone inexplicably found it a bit funny, and the originally tense atmosphere eased slightly.

Very quickly, the car slowly came to a stop. They had arrived at their destination. Looking up, they saw a building named ”Fuxing Building,” which was exactly where the National Defense University Laboratory was located.

At this moment, Su Chen was already waiting for them in the Laboratory.

When Chen Jian and his team learned that the person looking for them was someone who looked quite young, and that the Secret Service Bureau had been specifically dispatched to pick them up, they realized that the young man before them must have a significant background! He might be some important figure, so they immediately perked up, not daring to be even slightly negligent.

After a simple self-introduction, Su Chen looked at Chen Jian and the others, his gaze filled with inquiry and anticipation, and asked, ”Are you the VR technology experts that Elder Qin helped me invite?”

Upon hearing this, Chen Jian hurriedly waved his hands and said modestly, ”We can’t be called experts. We were just among the first batch of people to research VR technology. Although we’ve been exploring this field all these years, we haven’t achieved any particularly outstanding results; we’ve just accumulated some experience. Compared to real experts, we are still far behind.”

Su Chen smiled and said seriously, ”Then that makes you pioneers. To be able to devote yourselves to VR technology when it was just emerging and keep researching it—that in itself is quite remarkable.”

Chen Jian gave a helpless, bitter smile and sighed, ”I’m afraid we’re about to become martyrs now. The current state of VR technology is such that the market is getting smaller and smaller, and we’re almost out of options.”

Su Chen was stunned for a moment and asked with some confusion, ”Why do you say that?”

Chen Jian shrugged helplessly and explained with a bitter expression, ”Naturally, it’s because the current VR market is saturated. There are all kinds of VR products on the market, competition is fierce, but consumer enthusiasm is gradually fading.”

”Furthermore, research in VR technology has hit a bottleneck. For so many years, many key problems have remained unsolved. Everyone is stuck here. It can be said that there are too many competitors for too little market. Products are hard to sell, and technology is difficult to breakthrough, so we are all considering changing paths. We really have no choice.”

Su Chen understood. He knew clearly that this was mainly due to the technical bottleneck.

However, he was confident, knowing that this problem wouldn’t be a problem after some time, and he couldn’t help but reveal a confident smile.

Seeing Su Chen’s smile, Chen Jian was stunned. He muttered to himself, really not understanding what Su Chen meant. He thought, ”It can’t be that this young man can break through the VR technology bottleneck! How is that possible!”

You have to know, their many professional teams had spent a huge amount of manpower, material resources, and time trying to break this bottleneck, but what they got in return was always a cold reality check. Every time they tried with full hope, only to return in disappointment.

They also believed that someone might be able to solve this problem in the future, but in Chen Jian’s view, it definitely wasn’t this young man in front of him who looked like a college student.

Chen Jian even wanted to ask, ”Do you understand AR technology?”

At this moment, he had unconsciously labeled Su Chen in his heart, feeling that he was likely some young second-generation official wanting to start a business. Seeing that the VR industry seemed quite popular, he wanted to get involved, not knowing at all how deep the water in this industry was.

He even secretly complained in his heart: ”How did you choose the most difficult VR project among all the industries?”

”Listen to your uncle’s advice, the water in this industry is too deep, you can’t handle it!”
