Stop Fooling the Us, China Really is Doing This!

Chapter 330 If you think it’s feasible, then do it.Elder Qin’s eyes widened abruptly, and his voice involuntarily rose as he asked in astonishment:

”Build a world???”

”Little Chen, are you serious?”

”Don’t you dare kid with me!” Elder Qin felt as if he were getting a bit muddled!

Su Chen hurriedly explained:

”Elder Qin, it’s a virtual world. Everyone can enter, and then build their own home inside according to their own wishes, doing whatever they want, creating it however they please.”

”I was thinking of borrowing the name ’Spirit Realm’ that Elder Qian mentioned to name this virtual world. What do you think?”

Elder Qin was stunned for a moment, then asked doubtfully:

”Little Chen, didn’t you say earlier that there were quite a few problems with virtual reality technology? Why are you suddenly wanting to start such a huge project now?”

Su Chen’s face flushed red instantly; he chuckled rather embarrassedly and scratched his head, saying:

”I thought about it carefully later, and those problems can actually be completely solved through some technical means. Moreover, once this world is built, it will be completely under our control, which is of great significance to our Dragon Country.”

”Do you think this idea is okay?”

After hearing this, although Elder Qin couldn’t quite understand many of the technical details involved!

But seeing Su Chen so full of confidence now, and thinking of the miracles this kid had created in the past, he subconsciously felt that this must be a very impressive and awesome idea!

Plus, having always trusted Su Chen’s abilities, he immediately said without hesitation:

”Fine! Since you think it’s feasible, then let’s do it.”

”I will go and reflect this matter in a meeting with the higher-ups right now!”

”I’m quite looking forward to the arrival of the world you described!”

After hanging up the phone, Su Chen didn’t delay for a moment. He simply packed his luggage and then rushed to find his younger sister, Su Youwan, saying eagerly:

”Sis, I’m heading back to school.”

”When Mom and Dad get back, just tell them for me!”

After finishing, without waiting for his sister to respond, he hurriedly grabbed his luggage and went out the door, leaving Su Youwan standing there, completely bewildered. It took her a while to react, and she muttered to herself:

”What was Brother saying just now... Why did he leave so hurriedly? What is he up to?”

...

After returning to the Laboratory at school, Su Chen was like a machine with a tightened spring, immediately devoting himself heart and soul to the preparation work for the ”Spirit Realm” project.

The first step, naturally, was to estimate how much this massive project would cost!

After all, one cannot make bricks without straw; if there was no plan regarding funding, subsequent work could not be carried out smoothly.

Thus, Su Chen sat at his desk, holding a calculator, and started calculating the detailed expenses required for various equipment, technical research and development, and subsequent operation and maintenance, one item at a time, over and over again. His serious and focused demeanor made it seem as if the entire world had been reduced to just those numbers in front of him.

But after this calculation, the result nearly made him go numb!

It actually required 100 billion US dollars!!!!

This was not a small sum!

Because the virtual world Su Chen planned to build aimed to accommodate data for at least one percent of the global population!

This meant processing and storing massive amounts of information, and the requirements for data storage capacity were extremely high, which naturally required investing a large amount of capital in hardware equipment, cloud computing resources, and so on!

That was why the costs were so high.

But the current situation was that, although the country had successfully launched many technologies previously, such as energy projects, automotive projects, etc., and had indeed reaped a large amount of funds from the whole world, all this money had subsequently been invested into the construction of the colonies.

And colonial construction was currently still in the early investment phase and had not yet started to generate profits. This led to Dragon Country’s current capital reserves not being abundant; wanting to come up with 100 billion US dollars all at once to support this project was an extraordinarily difficult task.

Su Chen knew clearly that if the higher-ups saw such a high budget and happened to think the cost was too great, they might not approve the project, and then it would be all over; such a good idea would only be stillborn.

But he was truly too optimistic about this project, firmly believing that once it was built, it would definitely bring earth-shattering changes to Dragon Country and even the whole world, so he didn’t want to give up easily no matter what. He paced back and forth in the Laboratory, racking his brains to think of a solution.

Just when he was frowning and thinking hard, a phone call suddenly came in, interrupting his train of thought.

Su Chen thought it was some news from Elder Qin, so he hurriedly picked up his phone to check, only to find it was from the expert under him in charge of quantum communication technology!

He couldn’t help but feel a bit puzzled, wondering what the matter was for them to call at this time.

He answered the phone and heard the expert’s excited and thrilled voice from the other end:

”Chief Engineer Su, I have some good news for you. Our quantum communication technology has been successfully wrapped up, and all the work has been completed very smoothly!”

”We have also followed your previous requirements and have already docked with departments like the colonies and the Confidentiality Bureau. Moreover, we have finished comprehensive testing, and the test results are perfect; all indicators have met expectations and even exceeded them quite a bit!”

”Our technology will soon be able to be officially implemented!”

Su Chen was just about to say, ”Very good, thank you for your hard work,” but just at that moment, it was as if a current of electricity passed through his mind, and in a flash of inspiration, he felt as though he had been enlightened. He suddenly realized something and slapped his thigh:

”That’s right, how could I have forgotten such an important thing!”

Quantum communication technology had unique advantages in data storage; compared to traditional computers, it was much stronger.

If quantum computers could be applied in the ”Spirit Realm” project for data processing and storage, it would definitely save a lot of money.

Thinking of this, Su Chen couldn’t be bothered to exchange more pleasantries with the expert and immediately started re-estimating the project costs.

He flipped through the various data he had compiled earlier while adjusting his calculations based on the performance and cost of quantum computers. Fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, and his focused expression was as if he were fighting a decisive battle that would determine victory or defeat.

Finally, after some intense calculations, Su Chen was pleasantly surprised to discover that it would only require a few billion US dollars to complete this project!

This was a significantly reduced cost compared to the 100 billion US dollars estimated earlier; this had finally solved a major problem.

The heavy stone in Su Chen’s heart finally fell to the ground, and he hurriedly expressed his gratitude to the person in charge of the team in charge of quantum technology! The person in charge smiled on the other end of the line and said:

”Chief Engineer Su, you are too polite. This is all what we should do; we are also very happy to be able to contribute to the project.”

Su Chen didn’t offer any more explanations. After exchanging a few more simple pleasantries, he hung up the phone and then couldn’t wait to organize the re-estimated project cost list and send it to Elder Qin!

He also attached a detailed explanation, clarifying why there was such a big change in the costs.

After receiving it, Elder Qin also attached great importance to it and immediately organized relevant personnel to hold a meeting overnight to discuss it. Everyone engaged in a discussion surrounding this new cost list as well as the project’s feasibility, potential impact, and other aspects!

With everyone chiming in and expressing their own opinions, they discussed until late at night, finally making a decision and unanimously agreeing to support the project to continue moving forward.
