The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 137 - 128: The Difference Between Technique and Magic_3
Chapter 137: Chapter 128: The Difference Between Technique and Magic_3”That’s even better,” said Lawyer Luo, his expression unchanging. This attention to detail was an excellent skill he had acquired over the past decade. It helped his clients believe he was organized and meticulous, giving them peace of mind.

The four of them found a random burger joint to sit down.

”Alright, let’s get started then, I need to understand this new evidence you’re talking about.” As soon as they were seated, Lawyer Luo got straight to the point.

”Here.” Jiang Shu looked at Xiao Jia, who nodded and showed several video clips to Lawyer Luo, adding textual explanations.

Moments later, after Lawyer Luo had finished viewing the evidence, he said with satisfaction, ”Alright, with this evidence, mounting a defense of innocence will not be difficult.”

”Um, yes, that’s right.” Wolf bit into his triple beef burger, ”Normally, we’d have a solid case.”

”But it’s not guaranteed,” however, Lawyer Luo didn’t seem too optimistic. He disliked giving people too much hope when things were uncertain, ”The reversal rate for judicial appeals over the years has not been high, and in the face of inconclusive evidence, judges tend to sustain the original verdict.”

”However, I think there’s a good chance. Leave it to me,” Lawyer Luo smiled, which was rare for him, ”I seldom defend prisoners in judicial appeals, which would significantly lower my win rate, but this is different, you are Shen Xuwan’s friend, which makes you my friend, and I will do my utmost.”

”Thank you,” said Jiang Shu, expressing his gratitude. He glanced at Shen Xuwan, who was also focused on the conversation at the table but remained silent, just watching quietly.

”That’s enough,” Lawyer Luo ended the discussion, quickly finished his fast food, and then stood up, ”I learned about this new evidence a bit late, now I need to go back and prepare, goodbye.”

”Goodbye,” the three said farewell, and Lawyer Luo hurried out of the burger joint.

When the small table regained its calm, Shen Xuwan finally spoke: ”Kirie and Su Xiaoou have been detained, they couldn’t come.”

”I know,” Jiang Shu nodded, ”Tell me about what’s been happening at the theater lately.”

”Oh,” Shen Xuwan sorted out her thoughts, ”Only Sister Mei knows about your imprisonment, and she’s quite worried about you.”

”Ah... right,” Jiang Shu’s face showed some regret, ”I’ve caused trouble for the theater.”

”No... actually... it’s okay,” Shen Xuwan was also puzzled about this matter, ”Originally, you had a small magic show scheduled for this Tuesday, but since you weren’t there, Sister Mei had to cancel the magic show, and the only option was to refund and recall the tickets.”

”Uh, and then?” he asked.

”Then something very strange happened,” Shen Xuwan said, furrowing her brows, ”Those who bought tickets for that magic show, not a single one wanted a refund...”

”Ah?” Jiang Shu was taken aback; this was beyond his comprehension.

”Instead, many people started scalping the magic tickets online; those with more interesting sequence codes even shot up to over ten thousand...” Shen Xuwan continued, ”Some people say you’ve gone to heaven, and the variety show performances were your swan songs; others say you’ve seen the light and joined the Deception Group; there are also rumors you’re some ’Son of God.’ Basically, there’s a whole range of speculation, and as a result...”

She went on, ”It’s turned into this.”

”Uh...” Jiang Shu imagined himself in Jay Chou’s place, treating the magic show as the last concert he couldn’t make it to, and the logic became very clear.

Does that mean, in a sense, I’ve become a superstar?

That’s pretty cool.

Beta: Why don’t you try stepping into the shoes of the guy who sang ”Slippery Shoes?”

Jiang Shu tried it and immediately his mind filled with flurries of ”Snowflakes fluttering down,” promptly collapsing in a pile, he couldn’t be bothered with it.

”Alright, let’s head back, it’s already past midnight,” Wolf said, seeing that both had finished eating, ”The judicial appeal is about to begin.”

Jiang Shu looked at him and nodded slightly.
