Chapter 124: Chapter 122: Playing Well Equals Cheating? (4000-word Mega Chapter!!!)_2”First, who exactly is conducting these experiments?” Jiang Shu asked.

”The warden,” Clo replied swiftly.

”Will he really turn this place into a monstrous site?” Jiang Shu continued.

”Uncertain,” Clo answered.

”What does ’uncertain’ mean?” Jiang Shu furrowed his brow.

”The warden is indeed conducting research in this area, but the progress is uncertain,” Clo replied.

It was almost certain now. Clo must be in a hypnotic state; otherwise, he wouldn’t have given such an answer that could jeopardize the entire escape plan.

Jiang Shu continued, ”How did you know about my existence?”

A flicker of struggle appeared on Clo’s face, then he answered, ”You are a bug in Lonely City, as obvious as a candle in the night... using search programs...”

Suddenly, Clo opened his eyes. He looked at Jiang Shu, his expression confused and puzzled. ”Did I pass out?”

”Yes, you were probably too tired; we talked all night yesterday,” Jiang Shu shrugged nonchalantly. ”Fold the blanket, we need to get going.”

It was a pity; Clo woke up after the second question. His mental defenses were too strong.

His subconscious was packed with too many secrets not to be shared.

”Okay,” Clo looked at Jiang Shu’s neatly made bed and nodded.

He felt muscle fatigue as if he had been working hard all day.

Maybe he was just tired.

Clo thought.

——

Today was Sunday.

In Special Prison, inmates also had the right to enjoy weekends, which meant free time in the morning for any prisoners except those in category A.

After waking up and following the morning exercise, at seven thirty, Jiang Shu and Clo sat at the dining table, eating leisurely while discussing the escape.

Time was indeed pressing, but Clo had already arranged everything. Now, it was just about carefully considering any potential slip-ups with Jiang Shu.

”At ten, the transport vehicle will arrive at the front of the Central Building in Special Prison. We need to be waiting at this spot beforehand,” Clo pointed to a corner inside the Central Building drawn on the table with soup.

Continuing, he said, ”This is the first-floor restroom. Since Special Prison is far from the city and there are no service areas on the way, the driver always stops here to relieve himself, and during that time, three or four prison guards transfer medication from the vehicle to the inner warehouse of the Central Building.”

”Every time?” Jiang Shu looked at him.

”That’s right, I’ve observed it for a long time.” Clo nodded. ”Escaping involves understanding the settings, routines, and internal and external collaboration.”

Jiang Shu nodded in understanding; it meant Clo had started preparing for the escape long ago.

”And our activity area is here,” Clo sketched out the area where they’d be let out to ’breathe,’ about three hundred meters from the Central Building. He continued to draw, adding the wire fences, surveillance cameras, and patrol routes of the prison guards. ”Our path should be like this... We will only be caught on one camera, which is the least risky. Today is weekend, fewer guards are on duty, and the warden isn’t here either, so if we’re quick enough, it’s unlikely we’ll get noticed.”

”My plan is, I’ll go to the restroom, handle the driver, change into his uniform, and then you put on that doctor’s coat, follow me onto the vehicle. I’ll drive, and you hide in the back,” Clo continued. ”The prison guards at the checkpoint have been bribed by me; they won’t stop us during the inspection.”

”But wouldn’t they... be breaking the law?” Jiang Shu frowned. Letting them escape could land those guards in prison themselves.

”There are only two guards at the checkpoint, but the support squad is only five hundred meters away from the checkpoint,” Clo explained leisurely. ”So, when the time comes, we just knock those two out quickly; they won’t resist, and it won’t draw the support guards’ attention.”

Jiang Shu didn’t say anything. He had no objections.

Clearly, Clo was eager to take him along, getting him deeply involved in this scheme.

”Gather!” the prison guard shouted at the entrance of the cafeteria. All Class B prisoners then moved as instructed to the flat ground outside the dining hall.

Once the guards had counted everyone, they led the prisoners to the activity area.

The activity area, located outdoors and enclosed by a double-layered wired fence, covered about fifteen thousand square meters, roughly the size of a four hundred-meter track field with various sections, including basketball hoops, table tennis tables, and badminton courts.

Under the boundless clear sky, the sun quietly scorched the earth as the inmates dispersed across the field, some exercising, others deep in thought, or forming alliances to mark their territories.

”What kind of people are the Class C inmates?” Jiang Shu looked at the robust men in the distance, noticeably different from the Class B inmates.

With fierce complexions, gathered in groups of three to five, whereas Class B inmates mostly wandered the area alone or in pairs— the two groups were distinctly separate.

”Some gang members, or major criminals involved in cases like robbery, arson, bombings,” Clo replied lazily, propping his head with his hand and squinting.

”What’s the difference from Class B?” Jiang Shu puzzled.

”They are all fools,” Clo replied bluntly.

”But...” Jiang Shu observed the muscle mass of the Class BC inmates. ”These Class C inmates look tough, won’t they cause trouble?”

Jiang Shu hadn’t expected, initially thinking he’d face various injustices in prison and, using his Paper Card Technique, would subdue them one by one to forge a glorious ’reign’...
