The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 122 - 121 He Has Always Been Disgusting
Chapter 122: Chapter 121 He Has Always Been DisgustingAt the first moment Jiang Shu saw Clo, he used ”Three No Hypnosis” on him, but Clo appeared unaffected and did not show any signs of being controlled.

Indeed, this guy’s mental capacity was high, relying solely on a magic-derived entry... It was difficult to control Clo.

But acquiring this derivative entry was not meant for hypnotizing Clo, although it would be better if it were possible.

However, Clo also understood hypnotism. Trying to hypnotize such a person...

Required a lot of energy and demanded the right timing. If there was no opportunity, then one must create it.

Thinking of this, Jiang Shu couldn’t help but grin.

Although the situation with this derivative entry was a bit different from what he had anticipated, overall, he was quite satisfied.

Three No Hypnosis: Upon a successful mental state and coefficient judgement, the target directly enters a second-level hypnotic state (which can guide the depth of hypnosis).

What was important wasn’t the judgement bypassing the subject’s conditions for instant hypnosis, but rather the ability to guide and deepen the level of hypnosis. Once someone was already in a second-level hypnotic state, their susceptibility to hypnosis was quite favorable. Through repeated guidance, it was easy to reach an even deeper hypnotic state.

And Jiang Shu was in fact not skilled in hypnotism. He was a magician, and his knowledge of hypnotism was just rudimentary at best, enough to hypnotize that prison guard who was merely in a drowsy state, which improved his susceptibility to hypnosis, and the instructions given aligned with his subconscious.

Because the prison guard truly wanted to sleep, hypnotizing him had been effortless. Jiang Shu knew this was probably the extent of his ability.

At that time, he had even prepared to knock him out if he couldn’t hypnotize him successfully.

But now, this derivative entry gave Jiang Shu, who was not adept at hypnotism, a much stronger instantaneous hypnotic ability and could forcibly enhance the hypnotic susceptibility of the target. This was very buggy.

Simply put, he could now be considered half a fox; that guy’s hypnotic power...

He could only see the tip of the iceberg, but even so, it was extremely terrifying.

Utterly unreasonable, but with a Mysterious Coefficient within 1.0, it seemed completely reasonable...

One could only say, perhaps the fox had glimpsed the true secret of the human brain, after all, the human brain is a very complex thing, elusive.

If you were to compare the human brain to an iceberg, then consciousness would only be a small part of it, showing above the water surface. Below the water, there was the subconscious, which includes latent consciousness (emotions, feelings, beliefs, values), deep consciousness (memories, experiences, scars), and the unconscious (genetics, collective subconscious, super-consciousness).

”Are you going to sleep now?” Clo asked, somewhat puzzled, ”Are you very tired?”

”Conserving energy,” Jiang Shu slowly nodded, ”Aren’t we going to inspect the prison tonight?”

”But you weren’t this tired the past few days,” Clo still felt something was off.

”Just sleepy, don’t overthink it,” Jiang Shu chuckled.

Damn, we’ll play with the self-destruction truck tonight; I must conserve my energy now.

—

”Shh—”

Clo turned his head and cautiously signaled Jiang Shu.

Jiang Shu nodded and followed Clo to hide in a shadowy corner.

In the pitch darkness, two pairs of eyes quietly peered out, watching the corridor ahead.

A young woman, leading three canine creatures, walked out from there, her steps light, humming a leisurely song.

The woman’s eyes were covered with a black blindfold, her face pretty, and her figure delicate. She wore a puffy skirt, her upper body slender and lower body bulging, appearing somewhat uncoordinated.

The reason for the uncoordination was simple; beneath her long skirt were not the legs Jiang Shu had anticipated, but rather thick, flat-shaped tentacles.

The kind of tentacles of a soft-bodied creature.

An octopus lady?

Otherworld customs... pfft!

She slid from one end of the corridor to the other, leaving behind a trail of slime, two slightly thinner tentacles extending from her waist swaying like insect antennae, sensing everything in the corridor.

Suddenly, the tips of the tentacles aimed towards Jiang Shu and his companion; they quickly ducked their heads, merging with the darkness.

Jiang Shu clearly saw that each of the two tentacles had a large, round, lively yet ghastly eye embedded at the end, producing a terrifyingly creepy effect that made his skin crawl.

And those three dogs, they looked like the zombie dogs from Resident Evil, their bodies hairless, outer skin rotten, exposing muscles, even dirty white ribs visible, with blood-red eyes, sharp claws and teeth, and drooling red fluid, presenting a not-so-smart yet ferocious appearance.

In the quiet, an eerie atmosphere spread, and his Sanity points dropped significantly.

Jiang Shu swallowed, realizing the necessity of the trait spray Clo had used on him earlier, presumably to block the dogs’ sense of smell.

He looked at Clo; there wasn’t much expression on Clo’s face.

So, was Clo exploring places like this the past two days?

Damn thrilling!

Jiang Shu felt his body trembling slightly, excited to be in this environment.

Interesting.

The octopus lady walked past that corridor, disappearing from their line of sight. After a while, once they were sure she wouldn’t return, they relaxed a bit.

Jiang Shu took out a piece of paper and, under the dim corridor light, wrote: Is she a Mutant? Or a product of a genetic experiment?

This was Clo’s suggestion; he had told Jiang Shu before coming here that it’s better to communicate with paper and pen in such places.

Clo read it, took the pen, and circled ”Mutant” on the paper, then wrote: She has changed a lot, wasn’t this cold-blooded five years ago.

Jiang Shu thought for a moment, then wrote again: Isn’t there any surveillance here? How do you manage to remain undetected?

Clo: Yes, but not electronic surveillance. Electronic surveillance leaves a lot of evidence, and it’s not just that maniac calling the shots here. There are inspection teams that come to check.

Isn’t it electronic surveillance, could it be reconnaissance and control guards? True or false eyes?

Clo waved his hand towards him, signaling him to follow.

The two continued down the corridor, but before long, Clo stopped and pulled out a water gun, firing several shots at the corner of the ceiling.

There, a big-eyed creature struggled for a while after being shot with the water gun, then closed its eyes.

Well, biological monitoring, but seriously, Clo, are you Doraemon? You seem to have everything, even in prison.

However, above is Arkham Asylum, and below could be a refuge or an Umbrella Laboratory. If the Special Prison isn’t managed well, and they let a few monsters or strange people escape, the people of Thirteen District are in for it.

Jiang Shu silently commented in his heart.

After knocking out three or four big-eyed creatures, they wound through the maze-like underground fourth level, peeking into various containment rooms through small windows and seeing a three-legged lizard, a bear with an octopus head, and other strange things.

After some effort, Clo finally led Jiang Shu to their destination—a vacant room.

It seemed to be a cell, with cracked dingy walls covered in dense symbols and numbers.

”We can talk here, just keep it down,” said Clo.

Jiang Shu puzzled, ”Why?”

”Because there’s no one here,” Clo replied, gesturing in one direction with his lips, ”Didn’t you read the walls?”

Jiang Shu looked over. The walls were painted with four large characters in red paint—”No Entry.”

”This...” He was momentarily at a loss for words.

”This was that guy’s cell before he became warden. He must have moved the cell here afterward,” Clo whispered.

”He was in prison? He’s the warden?” Jiang Shu was perplexed, ”How do you know?”

Clo’s simple statement was loaded with information, shocking Jiang Shu for a whole year.

”I guessed.” However, Clo’s answer was extremely provoking.

Jiang Shu: ”...”

”Everything but the prison part is true,” Clo said earnestly, ”Come.”

After looking around, he pulled out a thin wire from his body, moved forward, stood in front of the door lock, and fiddled with it for a while, quickly unlocking the door.

Clo stepped in boldly without worrying about leaving any traces. He waved at Jiang Shu, ”Over here.”

Jiang Shu quickly walked over. The handwriting on the wall was messy.

”7.24: Major breakthrough in research. I’ve figured out the conditions for Mutants to upgrade###”

The section after that was covered in black, and Jiang Shu couldn’t see it clearly.

Clo then took him to find a few other scattered notes.

”7.30: Almost successful. As long as I help Mutants acquire these entries, they can advance to Second Level Mutants and transform into a new Forbidden Zone, and I won’t die.”

”8.6: Next Sunday.”

Jiang Shu stroked his chin. The numbers here seemed to be dates. This handwriting on the wall was probably like a weekly diary. He’d come every seven days to write.

Today was August 11, Saturday, meaning he would come again tomorrow, and that phrase about next Sunday meant...

Next Sunday to launch the plan?

”Every Sunday, the warden disappears,” Clo continued, ”This is what you can ask the other inmates. Now when I think about it, he must be here contemplating life, making plans. Do you need to look anymore? There’s more evidence, like experimental notes, but they’re not here. Only the evidence here is conclusive.”

”No need.” Jiang Shu shook his head, ”I believe you.”

”Okay,” Clo nodded, ”Then the escape... is set for tomorrow noon. I’ve arranged for a transport vehicle to come then.”

Jiang Shu looked at him intently, said nothing, just nodded.

——

At two in the morning, Jiang Shu and Clo returned to their dormitory, both with the same solemn expressions.

”Now you believe, right?” Clo glanced at him.

”Yeah,” Jiang Shu nodded earnestly, ”I agree to escape with you tomorrow.”

”Yes, you made the right choice,” nodded Clo, though the worry in his brows remained, ”It’s just that, after we escape, who knows what will happen here, it could become a new Life Forbidden Zone.”

”There’s nothing we can do, just take care of ourselves,” Jiang Shu also looked helpless, then continued, ”But, as we’re about to leave, I wanted to ask you some questions.”

With that, he took out some paper publications on history, philosophy, and psychology from this place and placed them in front of Clo, ”Coach, I want to learn this.”

Feeling it might be too little, he added two more physics books.

”Principles of Statistical Mechanics” and ”Principles of Quantum Mechanics”—yes, just looking at them makes one sleepy.

Clo: ”Are you sure???”

Jiang Shu: ”Of course.”

——

The next morning, Jiang Shu, with dark circles under his eyes, looked at an even more haggard Clo and showed a victorious smile.

Then he suddenly activated the Derivative Entry ”Three No Hypnosis.”
