The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 103 - 104 Secret Room Murder.
Chapter 103: Chapter 104 Secret Room Murder.Combat was coming to an end, and the situation on the field was becoming clearer, with only a few scattered disciples still resisting stubbornly.

The members of the Violent Terror Mobile Team had switched to lighter armor and were moving quickly through the battlefield, searching for the important leaders among the mechanical disciples.

The dust had settled.

”Very good,” Garcia stood up, looked at Jiang Shu, and smiled, ”We have won.”

”Uh-huh,” Jiang Shu nodded, not saying anything further as he waited for Garcia’s next move.

”Jiang Shu, T4, Magician,” Garcia slowly began, ”Mr. Jiang, you have really surprised me.”

”How so?” Jiang Shu asked, puzzled.

”Mr. Jiang is very capable, so I’ve developed the thought of forming an alliance.” Garcia walked to a side liquor cabinet, opened it, and a questioning voice followed, ”What would Mr. Jiang like to drink? I have almost every drink available on the market here.”

”I don’t drink,” Jiang Shu shook his head, ”Just get to the point, what do you want?”

”There are no outsiders here, and no surveillance either; this is my special negotiation place.” Garcia poured himself a glass of wine and returned to his recliner.

He placed the glass on a low, glass side table, but he didn’t drink.

”Right.”

”One year,” Garcia continued, ”within a year, the police will certainly make a move against me.”

”You’re very self-aware,” Jiang Shu chuckled, looking at the deep red liquor—not that he discovered anything, mainly because he didn’t want to look at that pile of white fat.

”Of course, I’m very clear why I’ve managed to get this far,” Garcia continued with a smile, ”I’ve strictly confined my influence to one block, quietly developing, bribing above and below, so naturally, the police don’t bother me. In Thirteen District, there are many who are harder to manage than me.”

”Indeed,” Jiang Shu nodded as mechanical disciples were indeed more dangerous since you never know when one of them might drive a mechanical war car and turn part of the city into ruins.

”But now it’s different; I have taken over four blocks from the mechanical disciples, and, I’m not afraid to tell you, my men are probably confiscating their weapons and equipment right now,” Garcia continued, ”After today, my power will be immensely strong.”

”So, what are you trying to say?” Jiang Shu was still puzzled.

”Give me ten years, and I can clean up the dark side of Area F,” Garcia narrowed his eyes, ”By that time, there won’t be a chaotic F area. Thirteen District needs darkness, but not disorderly darkness. And I, I can change all that, even if it’s just one area. I can keep the crime rate within a limit that the police can accept, and moreover, there will never be a large-scale terrorist event.”

”That’s an impressive idea,” Jiang Shu praised, even though Garcia’s intentions might not be pure, but it indeed was a good idea.

Only he didn’t believe things would turn out that way.

”But now, soon I will become a thorn in the police’s side. So, I want to make a deal with you,” Garcia continued, his squinting eyes betraying no emotion.

”What deal?”

”If there comes a critical moment, sell me some information, if Thirteen District Police Station wants to move against me, I need you to tell me,” Garcia said.

”I am from the Seventh District,” Jiang Shu shrugged, ”you’ve got the wrong person, I’m afraid I can’t help.”

”I know, I’ve investigated you,” Garcia said, ”That’s exactly why I need you.”

”It’s not possible to plant a spy inside Thirteen District Police Station,” Garcia said helplessly, ”but it’s different with you, Mr. Gary is an emerging star from Thirteen District Police Station, and Wolf, the Police Chief from Seventh District Police Station, is well acquainted with the Police Chief from Thirteen District. And both are your friends.”

”It’s quite noticeable from your interactions,” he added, ”If it were you, it would be easier to obtain the relevant information.”

”I can’t guarantee anything,” Jiang Shu didn’t relent.

”I don’t need your guarantee,” Garcia chuckled again, ”If that day really comes, as long as you provide the information in advance, whatever you ask for, as long as I have it, I can give it to you.”

”This is just a promise,” Garcia said as he reached behind the lounge chair and retrieved a small black box, ”here is one hundred grams of Black Silver. If Mr. Jiang promises not to speak of today’s events, it’s yours.”

Why do the people of Lonely City always like to use Black Silver instead of money?

But it has to be said that here, Black Silver is indeed more suitable than gold—after all, if you want, Black Silver can also become gold.

Of course, no one is willing to do that.

Jiang Shu didn’t move, but he didn’t refuse either.

Garcia smiled. Since he didn’t directly refuse the Black Silver, it proved that Jiang Shu wasn’t a fool blindly following programmed justice. Such an undercover agent had significance and could unexpectedly emerge to help him one day.

Jiang Shu wasn’t the first to hear such a proposal, nor would he be the last. Garcia had already planted many undercover agents, under different conditions of coercion or enticement.

Of course, only for high-quality undercover agents would he use Black Silver to buy their loyalty, as this material was indeed difficult to collect.

As long as one of these undercover agents provided intelligence, he would make a huge profit; otherwise, he wouldn’t lose anything.

Jiang Shu had also realized this point. That’s why he decided to accept the Black Silver. Now, he was just considering whether there was any other meaning behind it.

However...

Employee Shen Xuwan’s next salary was secured; he truly was a good employer of Lonely City.

At this time, Garcia also stood up and walked towards the pool, casually saying, ”Mr. Jiang, you can take your time to consider.”

He walked into the pool and began to swim, a relaxing exercise he did daily even though it was brief. He enjoyed the feeling in the water, which helped him think better.

Jiang Shu watched the white chunks in the pool; his thoughts weren’t on Garcia’s offer. He was still bothered by the woman who resembled Shen Xuwan.

He was a magician, and magicians liked to control the whole situation, not relying on coincidences.

Suddenly, he noticed that the white chunks in the pool had floated up.

”Hmm?” Jiang Shu stood up and quickly walked over to check; Garcia’s condition seemed very wrong—he was floating face-down in the water.

”Mr. Garcia?” he called out, but received no response.

Jiang Shu walked to the edge of the pool, used a life-saving pole to pull Garcia to the shore, then dragged him onto land.

Garcia’s complexion was purplish-blue, his heartbeat and breathing extremely faint, prompting him to immediately call the rescue team.

After doing all this, without full knowledge of the situation, attempting first aid could actually hasten Garcia’s death.

He then stood by the pool, looking at the unsettled water, deep in thought.

The pool water was very clear, clearly showing the bottom of the pool, evidently empty.

So, how did Garcia die?

Alcohol?

No, he hadn’t drunk alcohol, and a normal person wouldn’t swim after drinking.

A sudden illness? Judging from physical signs, it didn’t seem likely.

There was no assassin in the pool, and there were no weapon-inflicted wounds on his body.

He looked around—the enclosed space was deserted, quiet enveloping this place at this moment.

A secret room murder?
