The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 85 - 86 Foresight
Chapter 85: Chapter 86 Foresight”Informant?” Wolf turned his head to look at Jiang Shu instantaneously, his face very serious, ”Are you serious?”

There were some things that needed to be kept from Wolf, but others, there was no need.

”Mmm, there’s a high probability,” Jiang Shu nodded. It was the conclusion he had deduced, but it was affirmed by the crocodile.

However, there was still the possibility of framing and shifting attention, although it wasn’t likely.

”These are the Mechanical Disciples’ people, whether it’s the kidnapping or the explosion case, their real target is me,” Jiang Shu continued, ”The purpose of kidnapping Kirie was also to force me to cooperate with them. If there is no informant, how would they know I would appear at the scene because of the explosion?”

”Indeed,” Wolf’s face darkened, ”This informant... must also be very familiar with my character, knowing that I would drag you to the scene.”

In his mind, he saw the faces of familiar members of his group; if possible, he really didn’t want the informant to be any one of them.

”I’ll investigate discreetly,” Wolf continued, ”During this time, watch out for your safety.”

”Mmm, after my variety show on Tuesday finishes, come with me to Thirteen District,” Jiang Shu said, looking at Wolf, who showed some astonishment in his eyes.

”You want to go to Thirteen District?” Wolf said, if the explosion case really was the work of Mechanical Disciples, then he certainly had to take another trip to Thirteen District.

A cross-district terrorist incident like this would definitely be taken seriously by higher-ups.

”Yes,” Jiang Shu replied. Investigating his social relations, they might take action against people close to him, which was enough to make him personally make the trip.

He disliked the feeling of being spied on.

After performing that magic trick, his strength should be enough to handle the Mechanical Disciples.

No matter if they had military weaponry, no matter if they had armor, no matter if they had a Key Master.

”Okay,” Wolf understood, this move by the Mechanical Disciples might have provoked Jiang Shu, so he didn’t say anything to dampen the spirits further.

Stop him? There was absolutely no need.

Even if Jiang Shu’s strength wasn’t enough, and there might be accidents in the struggle with the Mechanical Disciples, when a man is determined to fight for the people around him, whoever stops him is his enemy.

Men, after all, must have something more important than life itself.

Thinking this, Wolf grew to admire Jiang Shu even more. The fellow might seem frail, but whether in previous fights with the Disciples or his recent venture into danger to save Kirie, he had exhibited the bravery and fearlessness befitting a man.

However, he also wondered, how exactly did Jiang Shu manage it?

Of course, thinking of Jiang Shu as truly brave and resourceful, along with the help of the four armed Tablet Spirits, it wasn’t completely impossible.

The three returned to the police station to give statements. Because Wolf was recording the statements, neither Jiang Shu nor Kirie showed any serious or meticulous attitude, and with exchanges of looks and superficial answers, they muddled through.

The ending of the kidnapping case was Jiang Shu rescuing Kirie, then one of the Disciples ignited the explosives, and the rest escaped the scene.

But clearly, this was not the end of it.

Outside the interrogation room, in the corridor.

”Well, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be going back first?” Jiang Shu glanced at his wristwatch. It was already after four in the afternoon, and Su Xiaoou’s art class at the theater was about to end; it was time for him to return as well.

At that moment, a series of rapid footsteps approached, and a middle-aged man in police uniform came in front of Kirie. He looked her up and down, his hands anxiously gripping her shoulders, ”Kirie, you were kidnapped? Are you injured? Did they hurt you?”

”No... Dad.” Kirie pulled away from his grasp, then cautiously looked towards Jiang Shu, ”Jiang Shu saved me.”

”Jiang Shu?” The man was Police Chief Charles, he sized up Jiang Shu, his expression returning to its usual sternness, ”Thank you for saving my daughter.”

”You’re welcome,” Jiang Shu scratched his head, feeling somewhat embarrassed; after all, it was he who had involved Kirie.

”I know, the Mechanical Disciples were targeting you, and Kirie was just implicated by you,” the Police Chief said with grave seriousness.

”I’m sorry...” Jiang Shu didn’t know what to say.

”I don’t blame you,” continued Police Chief Charles, his anger not directed at Jiang Shu. As a police chief, he always let reason control his emotions, ”but if you want to continue being with Kirie, you must be able to ensure her safety.”

”Eh?” Jiang Shu and Kirie both looked at him simultaneously.

”It’s not that I have other nonsense to spout.” The two of them again spoke in unison, then exchanged glances.

And Police Chief Charles didn’t say much more, only adding, ”Handle your own affairs.”

Afterward, he left the corridor hurriedly, as a police chief, he had a lot of work to do every day.

”That...” Kirie broke the silence between them, ”Next Monday is the awakening ceremony at the Seventh District police academy, I’m the technical staff in charge of the scene.”

”Hmm?”

”If you need help, I can assist you,” Kirie continued.

Jiang Shu stared at her for a while before smiling and saying, ”Okay.”

---

Back at the theater, Jiang Shu entered his Magic House, Shen Xuwan was next door giving Su Xiaoou a lesson, so he scooped up rice for three, put it into the rice cooker, and then turned to go to the bathroom to bathe.

In the factory of slaughter, though he was untouched by filth or blood, the weariness in his soul needed the wash of water to cleanse it.

He had used a Derivative Entry, so he couldn’t leave any survivors.

At the time, it was urgent, worrying about too much delay causing complications, so he hadn’t thought to ask what the cooperation truly meant.

But, just as he had judged at that time, Jiang Shu suspected that the crocodile himself didn’t know, and as for the other lackeys, they were even more unlikely to know.

He still needed to make a trip to the Thirteen District to clarify the situation for himself.

Jiang Shu made up his mind, then wiped his body with a towel, changed into clean, lightweight clothes, stepped out of the bathroom, and began to make dinner.

When he had nearly finished preparing three small dishes, he walked next door and knocked twice on the door.

”Come in,” came Shen Xuwan’s voice from inside.

Jiang Shu poked his head in, ”Dinner’s almost ready, get yourselves prepared and come over to eat.”

”Okay,” Su Xiaoou immediately stood up and called out.

The three of them washed their hands and sat down at the dining table to have dinner together.

With the experience from last time, Shen Xuwan was already able to sit down and freeload without a change of face or heartbeat, very calmly accepting the rights she enjoyed.

”What were you doing this afternoon?” she asked.

”Um, preparing the next magic show,” Jiang Shu didn’t mention the kidnapping, then he continued, ”Recently, you two be careful.”

”What happened?” inquired Shen Xuwan, puzzled.

”It’s not very peaceful around here, don’t wander off if it’s not necessary,” Jiang Shu took out two Sekleus III firearms, along with two boxes of ammunition, placing them in front of the two women, ”for self-defense.”

”This...” Shen Xuwan originally thought it was just a simple routine reminder, she didn’t expect Jiang Shu to have prepared firearms but she was well aware that Jiang Shu wouldn’t have brought it up without reason, ”I understand, I’ll stay in the theater for the next few days and won’t go anywhere.”

”Is this really for me?” Su Xiaoou picked up a gun, her face filled with joy, it was much better than the revolver she had saved up for half a year to get.

”Yes, but it can only be used for self-defense, don’t engage in anything else,” said Jiang Shu sternly.

”Understood!” Su Xiaoou immediately became serious.
