The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 75 - 76: An Invitation from Li Yuntang
Chapter 75: Chapter 76: An Invitation from Li YuntangJiang Shu handed his contract to Shen Xuwan’s friend and also uploaded it to the Tablet Spirits. Their learning, searching, and mimicking abilities were so strong that they basically qualified for legal consulting work.

Quickly, Xiao Jia’s barrage indicated that there were no problems with the two contracts.

”By the way, Jiang Shu,” Sister Mei had something else to say, ”a variety show has invited you, do you want to go?”

”Variety show?” Jiang Shu paused, ”Me?”

”Yes,” Sister Mei nodded, ”Among the guests for the same period there is Li Yuntang, and she invited you to make an appearance on the show.”

”Uh, Li Yuntang?” Jiang Shu almost forgot he had such a person in his contact list, ”Is there an appearance fee? How much? When?”

”Of course, there’s an appearance fee—about half an hour, a lump sum of eight hundred thousand.” Sister Mei showed him the price negotiated with the TV station and explained, ”Eight hundred thousand for half an hour, the economic efficiency of this fee is already not low compared to first-line stars.”

”The time is next Tuesday evening, from eight thirty to nine,” she continued. ”Is that okay? If you agree, I’ll reply to the TV station right now.”

”Can I have a look at the condition of this variety show?” Jiang Shu was quite tempted.

”Yes, the variety show’s name is ’Entertainment First Line’. You can look it up online,” Sister Mei nodded. ”Overall, it’s a program with high viewership, which can greatly increase your popularity and topicality. If it were someone else from the theater, they would probably agree right away.”

Sister Mei was always quite talkative; realizing she might have said too much, she laughed and continued, ”Haha, I’ve spoken too much. I won’t interfere with your choice; you decide whether or not to go.”

Jiang Shu glanced at Shen Xuwan, who was still waiting for a notice from the lawyer, then he picked up the Tablet Spirit Xiao Jia and searched for this program.

The encyclopedia showed—

”Entertainment First Line” is a guest interview game show produced by Lonely City Seventh District TV Station, hosted by Robin Cook.

The program focuses on interviews and games, supplemented by song and dance and various kinds of acts, designing individual themes for its guests each episode.

Overall, this variety show is one of the hottest in the Lonely City Seventh District.

This time around on ”Entertainment First Line,” the TV station was mainly inviting Li Yuntang and a few other popular stars.

However, due to a scheduling conflict with one of the guests, there was an empty slot of about half an hour. Hence, Li Yuntang proposed inviting a special guest. When asked if she had any good suggestions, she thought of Jiang Shu.

”Okay, I agree,” Jiang Shu nodded, deciding.

The reason was simple. The program had very high viewership ratings, so if he could perform a magic trick on the show that remained unexposed, the ability generated by ”Deception” would be extremely restored and extremely powerful!

”Okay,” Sister Mei nodded. ”Then I’ll discuss it with the TV station right now.”

”Mm,” Jiang Shu continued, ”I only have one request—I need fifteen minutes to perform a magic trick.”

”Of course,” Sister Mei smiled. ”Inviting you, a great magician, they certainly will not just let you do interviews and play games like the previous stars did. I don’t need to mention it; the TV station will likely suggest that you prepare a magic trick that can be performed live.”

”That’s good,” Jiang Shu was satisfied. He already had a plan for this magic trick, and it was going to be explosive.

But he only had four days to prepare, which was a bit tight on time.

Moreover, he might need a lot of help from Kirie, as some of the principles involved he was also unsure whether they would work in reality.

At that moment, Shen Xuwan finally received a positive response from her lawyer friend, and she looked at Jiang Shu, ”Both contracts are problem-free; we can sign.”

So, the two signed their names on the contracts—two electronic contracts saved in the cloud, and two paper contracts kept on hand, just in case.

”Okay, if there’s nothing else, you guys go ahead and get busy,” Sister Mei said.

”Alright, Sister Mei, goodbye,” Jiang Shu said goodbye.

”Goodbye,” Shen Xuwan said goodbye together.

The two walked to the door, and Jiang Shu looked back to see Sister Mei had restarted her work mode, dealing with the theater’s big and small affairs early on a Saturday morning, which he couldn’t help but admire.

As they reached the entrance of the Magic House, Jiang Shu carefully opened the door a crack and peeped inside, old-hand at this, his stance similar to a headteacher peeking through the back door’s small window years ago.

Bing: Eventually he had become what he hated the most.

After watching for a while, Jiang Shu was quite pleased, Su Xiaoou was studying seriously, and Kirie was explaining well, having quite a hypnotic effect.

He straightened up and said to Shen Xuwan, ”Shall we clean your office first?”

”Mm,” Shen Xuwan smiled, ”That works. I’ll make a call and have the moving company transfer my luggage from New Moon Hall here.”

”Okay,” Jiang Shu nodded and used a door card to open Shen Xuwan’s office.

Like his office, hers was similarly large, about the size of a classroom, but it didn’t contain much clutter; it seemed it had been cleaned before being sealed off, so there was only some dust, still fairly clean.

The two went down to the janitor’s room to get cleaning tools and, after repeatedly declining the janitor’s offer to help, they went upstairs.

”Wait a second,” Shen Xuwan suddenly spoke, then ran back to the Magic House.

Jiang Shu was somewhat confused, but didn’t think much of it. He fetched a bucket of water from the bathroom in the hallway and then began to help clean.

In any case, there wasn’t anything else to do. Working in the Entertainment Series was comfortable, with plenty of free time every day to allocate. If it weren’t for Wolf and his troublesome cases, Jiang Shu’s daily life would be leisurely.

After throwing the dirty rag into the bucket to wash and wiping the sweat from his brow, he looked at the now spotless windows, relaxing, ”This is the everyday life of a Cyber Magician, huh.”

”I’m back,” Shen Xuwan entered office 402, having changed clothes.

She was now dressed in casual sportswear, shorts and a shirt, and her long, fair legs were shapely and proportionate, making her look youthful and pretty.

”The clothes I had on before weren’t suitable for cleaning. Now it’s my turn!” Shen Xuwan grabbed the mop, her face serious, and began to mop meticulously.

——

Several hours later, the two sat resting on chairs.

”I’ve seen your magic online, it’s very impressive,” Shen Xuwan said, her tone genuinely admiring.

Jiang Shu smiled, ”Mm, we’re colleagues now. You can watch whenever you want, I won’t charge you an admission fee.”

”Mm,” Shen Xuwan smiled back.

”Do you have time next Tuesday evening?” Jiang Shu thought of a fun idea.

”Me? I’m free, Sister Mei is planning to promote me, and my first performance is still being scheduled,” Shen Xuwan replied.

”Okay, then come and watch the variety show I mentioned earlier. I need your help with something, but don’t worry, I’ll take care of the Black Silver.”

”Okay,” Shen Xuwan’s eyes sparkled, and she immediately agreed.
