The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 65 - 66 Magician
Chapter 65: Chapter 66 Magician”You turn around, face away from me.”

In the darkness of the closet, Shen Xuwan whispered.

”What are you doing? What do we do now?” Jiang Shu turned around, his heart pounding uncontrollably, at a loss for what to do next.

”There’s a nightgown here, let me put it on and then I’ll go out to deal with them,” Shen Xuwan answered.

”Oh.” Jiang Shu replied obediently and turned around.

There was a very slight rustling sound from behind him, and a warm, fragrant scent wafted toward him, burrowing into his nose.

Wait, the meaning of changing clothes now, doesn’t that mean...

Is she naked right now?

Countless romantic thoughts churned in Jiang Shu’s mind. Despite his existence across two lives, he had never experienced such an electrifying moment.

Speaking of which, Shen Xuwan was one of the rare women whose beauty could compete with Sister Ruo, and what’s more, her figure was just as impeccable.

Plus, she was slightly older than him.

Jiang Shu admitted it to himself—he definitely had a thing for older women.

As he thought about it, he felt his body involuntarily rising, pressing against the wooden board of the closet.

To be fair, he couldn’t be blamed for his lack of discipline; under these circumstances, it truly was an involuntary reflex, the kind that couldn’t be controlled subjectively.

At this moment, Xiao Yi’s screen suddenly lit up slightly.

Jiang Shu: ”???”

You better not be thinking about recording this, right?

Fortunately, Xiao Yi wasn’t as sleazy as Jiang Shu thought; it lit up only to display comments.

Yi: Plank obstacle.

Jiang Shu: ”...”

Outside the closet, the officers entered the nearby bedroom and study, searching through every possible hideout. Meanwhile, Wolf glanced at the family portrait on the counter.

”This is...” He also noticed the photo, where in place of a girl and a father’s faces, there was just emptiness.

Wolf looked around the living room; the large coat closet caught his attention, and he walked over, intending to open it but stopped halfway.

Is this really okay to do?

He hesitated for a moment, but suddenly, the closet door banged open, and Shen Xuwan, dressed in a nightgown, emerged.

”What are you doing?” She said angrily, her face looking displeased.

”Ah? Miss Shen, you...” Wolf was stunned. ”Are you at home?”

”Where else would I be if not at home?” Shen Xuwan coldly replied, turning to glance over Wolf’s shoulder, ”You bring so many officers to break into my home, even damaging my door, what is the meaning of this?”

”Well...” Wolf felt a bit embarrassed, ”I called you, but no one answered, so I came up and knocked, but still, no one came to the door...”

”So?” Shen Xuwan’s presence was formidable, ”I was just bathing, I didn’t have my prosthetic eye in, and I didn’t hear the phone.”

”I’m sorry, Miss Shen.” Wolf immediately apologized. ”I mistakenly thought you had been taken by the Deception Group, so I was a bit hasty. I’ll cover the repair cost for the door.”

”Okay,” Shen Xuwan nodded slightly, furrowing her brow a bit, ”Now that you’ve confirmed I’m safe, can you leave?”

”Of course,” Wolf replied, but then he asked, ”May I ask one thing, Miss Shen... why were you in the closet after your bath?”

”I enjoy confined spaces; they give me a sense of security,” Shen Xuwan answered naturally, her demeanor and words unaffected, ”And besides, a daily session of meditation stimulates my inspiration.”

”I see.” Wolf nodded as if enlightened; once it concerned an artist’s inspiration, he found everything made perfect sense.

After all, he had seen even stranger habits.

Wolf’s gaze fell on the closet.

Although it seemed unlikely, it was still possible—he suspected that someone from the Deception Group might be hiding in the closet.

Perhaps Shen Xuwan was being coerced by the Deception Group, or maybe she was involved with them.

”May I ask another question?” But then he thought of something else and politely asked, ”What clothes are in this closet?”

”Some outerwear,” Shen Xuwan replied instinctively.

”I see.” Wolf nodded and walked forward, pulling open the closet door in one swift motion.

”Wait!” Shen Xuwan was suddenly startled and hurriedly tried to stop Wolf, visible panic written all over her face.

Being discovered with a man hiding in her closet in the middle of the night, even though she wasn’t from the Entertainment Series of the Screen System, would still have brought countless troubles.

Moreover, her public persona was always that of an ethereal and elegant woman. If this news ever got out, the consequences would be unthinkable.

”Oh—” Wolf looked at the contents of the closet and emitted an elongated sound that was hard to decipher.

Shen Xuwan also looked inside.

”Eh?” Her eyes blinked, unable to believe what they saw.

Inside the closet, there were only dozens of playing cards; Jiang Shu’s figure had disappeared.

”So you like playing cards too,” Wolf suddenly realized, ”There’s nothing to hide about this, even if the classical music goddess takes up magic, it’s not something shameful.”

”Magic?” Shen Xuwan asked subconsciously.

”Yeah,” Wolf seemed puzzled, ”Don’t you know? Jiang Shu, the guy who was just with me, he is a magician.”

”A magician... what does he do?” Shen Xuwan continued to ask.

”A magician...” Wolf recalled what Jiang Shu had told him, using Jiang Shu’s own words, ”Magicians excel at performing miracles, at making the impossible possible.”

”Making the impossible possible?” Shen Xuwan murmured as she looked at the colorful playing cards in the closet.

Shortly after, Wolf left swiftly with the police officers, and before long, they returned to install a new door.

Somehow, watching their actions, Shen Xuwan couldn’t help but feel...

They...

were very skilled.

Both at breaking and installing doors.

After Wolf and the officers apologized numerous times, they finally left the place, and Shen Xuwan heaved a sigh of relief, then started picking up the playing cards from the closet.

”Hm?” She noticed at the very bottom a playing card that had neither suit nor number, but rather a line of mechanically printed text.

”If you want to retrieve your earrings, come find me at the Black Currant Theater tomorrow.”

”I want to know what kind of magic power these earrings hold that makes you willing to collude with the Deception Group.”

—

Inside the Magic House.

Jiang Shu emerged from the Magic Table.

”Thankfully, thankfully I still had this trick up my sleeve,” he breathed a sigh of relief. If not for the Return to City Skill, he would have completely lost face today.

Wait, appearing in Shen Xuwan’s closet, in Wolf’s eyes, would probably not be an embarrassing act, but rather a great honor, giving the Lonely City police chief face.

”However,” he looked towards the Magic Table, ”Does this mean that every time I use this skill I have to emerge from this table?”

That’s just wicked.

He tried it once more, the Magic Table now seemed like his very own springs, bound to be his return point.

Moreover, he didn’t know how to modify it; according to his plan, this ability should appear exactly where he wants.

If he could appear anywhere he wished, that would be too strong, much better than the current Return to City Skill.

Helpless.

Jiang Shu walked out of the Magic House, slowly meandering to someplace.

He still had another task to accomplish.

Come to think of it, today had been a really busy day.

Wait, was something missing?

His gaze faltered.

—

Late at night, the long journey began.

From New Moon Hall to Black Currant.

Four Tablet Spirits, one running and three flying, cooling fans whirring wildly, their screens filled with a barrage of curses.

Damn it, he’s returning to the city alone, without us!
