Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 1016: Chapter 1010: Dispatch to Rescue_1

Qin Xue and Chu Molin went directly to the station, bought tickets, and hurried to the disaster area. They didn’t have time to say or do anything else in preparation.

“Xue’er, have you ever witnessed such a situation before?” Chu Molin didn’t know if she had ever experienced such natural disasters when she was a doctor, so he asked.

“Yes, I have participated in relief work before, you don’t need to worry about my lack of experience.” Qin Xue mistakenly thought Chu Molin was worried about her inability to handle such a situation.

“Silly girl, I’m worried that you’ll be scared.” Chu Molin said. The scenes of devastation caused by the earthquake were not for the faint-hearted. Collapsed buildings turned to ruins, people grievously injured, bleeding, and dismembered were numerous. Wails and cries were heartrending and could bring even the toughest person to tears.

So he only asked her in case she was unable to bear such a sight, not because he questioned her ability to treat the injured, even though this was a valid concern. But as a doctor who could perform major surgeries, he didn’t need to worry about that.

“Well, I misunderstood you.” On hearing this, Qin Xue realized his reasoning. She had witnessed even more severe situations in a previous life and had stood firm. There was no reason for her to be afraid this time.

“No problem, close your eyes and rest a little. It might not be possible to get much rest in the coming days. But when you do have the time, make sure to rest, okay? Your health is tied to many lives.” Chu Molin remarked. As the key technical expert, his wife could not act wilfully—all her energy is needed for the rescue work. If she fell, many wouldn’t get the treatment they need, so her safety was paramount.

“I understand. You should rest as well.” Qin Xue looked at her husband, knowing that he would probably be even busier than her. When he told her to rest, why not rest himself?

“Okay.” Chu Molin agreed upon seeing the concern in his wife’s eyes.

However, on arriving at the disaster site, Qin Xue couldn’t help but feel like crying. The destruction was horrific. Not a single house was left standing, only the wreckage. Some injured people had been relocated while others were still crying in pain. Words could hardly describe the severity of the situation.

“Are you afraid?” Chu Molin asked his wife who stood immobile.

“Not afraid, it’s just too horrific.” Qin Xue, despite having developed strong mental resilience, was still taken aback by the disaster scene.

“Let’s go check out the situation first. Hold this bag for me, I’ll come looking for you when I need it.” Chu Molin said, pointing to a station not far away. He needed to check how the relief operations were planned before starting.

“Okay, take this on you. If you get too exhausted or your body can’t keep up, drink some. Take extra bottles and give them to other workers if they need it. They don’t need much, two or three drops should be sufficient.” Qin Xue handed him more than a dozen small bottles to put in his pocket.

“Alright, take care.” Chu Molin put the bottles in his pocket and, without looking back, strode off.

“Chu Molin, if you guys finish the contents of the bottles, don’t throw them away. Bring them back to me, got it? And take care of yourself!” Qin Xue called out, watching his retreating figure.

“Understood, take care.” Chu Molin replied without looking back. He feared that if he turned and saw his wife, he wouldn’t have the heart to leave her, so he forced himself not to look back.
