Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 1007: Chapter 1001 The benefits of Coriander_1

“Sure, go pick some. Make sure to pick the tender ones, the old ones are not tasty when eaten raw.” Qin Xue thought about the sweet and crisp taste of the tender leaves. The old leaves were too bitter and not tasty. So she always separated the tender lettuce leaves to eat with sauce, while the old leaves were used for stir-frying.

“Alright.” Qin Jiale grabbed a basket from the kitchen and headed to their own field. Looking at the greens, because of the cold weather, they were not very good, so she picked some lettuce and also some parsley and spring onions before heading home.

“Good job, I was just thinking I forgot to ask you to bring some spring onions. We need them for the shrimp pancakes. I have them in my space, but I can’t take them out, so I had to ask you to pick them. But, I forgot to mention it. Good thing you knew what I was thinking.” Qin Xue thought about this only after her sister had left.

“I’ve seen my classmates eat this, and they do include spring onions in it. I thought you forgot, so I just picked them. Also some parsley, it’s so delicious.” Qin Jiale, for some reason, really liked to eat parsley.

“Parsley is good, it has medicinal value.” Qin Xue looked at her sister and chuckled, this girl really knew how to enjoy food.

“Isn’t it just a vegetable? How does it have medicinal properties?” Qin Jiale liked to eat, but she really had no idea about its medicinal effects.

“Parsley is warm and sweet in nature. It promotes digestion, sweat elimination and other benefits. If you eat too much, drinking tea made with three or four dried parsley heads can have unexpected effects.” Qin Xue said. In fact, parsley had many more benefits than she had just mentioned such as being diuretic, wind-relieving and detoxifying; in essence, all of our everyday vegetables have medicinal properties.

Take radish for instance, it is regarded as commoners’ ginseng and the saying goes “eat radish in winter and ginger in summer”, it’s clear how much everyday people value these natural ingredients. This proves that oftentimes we can use food therapy to adjust our bodies rather than frequently consuming medications. After all, there is a saying: every medicine has a bit of poison.

“Wow, I didn’t know that this little parsley has so much knowledge behind it. Sister, you know so much.” Qin Jiale looked at her sister admiringly.

“All of these things I read from books. As long as you read more in the future, you’ll know too.” Qin Xue thought about the food therapy cookbook in her space. She was a bit lazy, so she just read medical books, the cookbook was left untouched in a corner.

“Are these in the medical books you read back in S Province?” Qin Jiale had seen those medical books, but most of the knowledge was beyond her understanding. However, she found it interesting and decided to aim for Military Medical University in her college entrance exam.

The reason for choosing Military Medical University was because it was the best among all medical schools. Therefore, if she wanted to be as knowledgeable as her sister, she had to work even harder.

“Not in the usual ones I read, but in some other books. I’ll find out where I read them later. Oh, by the way, I brought back many books and study materials for you this time. Help me move them after dinner.” Qin Xue thought about this only now. They had gone to bed directly after washing up last night, and she had forgotten to give the books to her sister. After dinner, they could move them to her sister’s room, so she could read them there.
