I Created a Containment Object at the Start, and Became a God

98: Crazy idea!At the same time, the Special Adjustment Department, responsible for handling Paranormal Events, was plunged into unprecedented accusations and chaos.

The strategy of cautious investigation and using the strange to combat the strange, advocated by Special Adjustment Department Director Shiga Kōzo, was criticized by the Radical Faction as weak and incompetent.

Meanwhile, Mitsui Ryūichi, who had a background in the Ministry of Defense, seized the opportunity to launch an attack, accusing the Director’s indecisiveness of leading to the complete loss of control over the incident, the arrival of the Demon Legion, and the resulting massive civilian casualties.

High-ranking official Matsumoto Ken’ichirō watched coldly from the sidelines, eager to find a scapegoat to quell the anger of the higher authorities.

The Special Adjustment Department itself was on the verge of collapse, with various factions fiercely infighting to shift blame and seize future dominance.

Yet, above the ruins of Adachi Ward, Tokyo—the eye of the political and social storm triggered by the man-made monster and ultimately sweeping across the nation—the air subtly rippled.

Lin Zhi’s figure, like a reflection in water, quietly materialized and then silently faded away, as if he had never been there.

He looked down at the bustling crowd, like an ant colony, and listened to the distant clamor of protests, a barely perceptible curve forming on his lips.

The evil seed sown here had already blossomed and borne fruit, bringing the anticipated chaos and despair.

For him, the show had just begun. Tokyo, and even all of Japan, held more fertile ground awaiting the scattering of new seeds.

The chaos in Tokyo was forcefully suppressed before sunrise.

Heavy-duty units of the Self-Defense Forces, elite Special Adjustment Department troops wearing specialized gear, and some unknown trump cards were successively deployed to the battlefield.

After paying a considerable price, they finally cleared out the rampant Demon Legion and completely sealed off the street area.

This level of efficiency was to be expected for a country possessing considerable strength.

However, Lin Zhi, seated above the clouds, slightly raised an eyebrow, a trace of imperceptible surprise flashing in his eyes.

“Oh? Unexpectedly... he got away?”

His perception clearly told him that Jirō, the Host of the Bloodthirsty Mask, was still alive, although his aura was much weaker, like a flickering candle in the wind.

The dark connection between the Mask and the Host had not been severed.

“Under a siege of that scale involving Japan’s trump cards, a vessel who couldn’t fully control the Mask’s power and whose sanity was nearly shattered actually managed to escape...”

Lin Zhi rubbed his chin, whispering with interest.

“Was it the Mask’s own survival instinct? Or did Jirō unleash some potential in his desperation? Heh... Interesting.”

His gaze swept once more over the city below, which had just experienced a catastrophe and was now licking its wounds under martial law. A crazy and chilling thought silently slithered across his mind like a viper:

“If I were to drop a ’Little Boy’ right here... what kind of magnificent ’fireworks’ would bloom across this crowded island beneath my feet?”

The thought flashed and vanished, carrying a cruelty born purely of curiosity.

Immediately afterward, he gently shook his head, and his figure once again dissolved into the faint pre-dawn light like ink blending into water... Prime Minister’s Official Residence, Underground Emergency Command Center.

The atmosphere was so heavy it felt like water could drip from it.

Prime Minister Aoi Shōta’s face was ashen, veins throbbing on his forehead, as he fiercely roared at the four people standing before him:

“Trash! A bunch of trash! We deployed the Great Japanese Empire’s most elite Exorcism Unit! We even used the two secret squads, Kagemusha and Kamikaze! What was the result?! Huh?

Not only did you let that monster slaughter tens of thousands of citizens in the most prosperous area of Tokyo.

You sparked nationwide riots! And in the end, you even let the main culprit escape?! How am I supposed to explain this to His Majesty the Emperor! How am I supposed to explain this to the citizens!!”

Standing before him were the pale-faced Special Adjustment Department Director Shiga Kōzo, and three top Special Adjustment Department experts who were seriously injured and weak from the battle to suppress Jirō.

One of the experts, whose arm was wrapped in heavy bandages and whose face bore a deep, bone-visible scar, struggled to speak in defense:

“Your Excellency the Prime Minister! We... we had already cornered him. Dotōsai’s Ame no Habakiri did indeed sever his head.

But... but that monster... he... he actually... came back to life.

The moment his head fell, his body transformed into a black and red shadow, merged with the darkness, and instantly fled! There... there was nothing we could do about that appearance.”

“I don’t want to hear excuses!” Aoi Shōta slammed his hand down on the table, the loud noise echoing in the secret room.

“The result is, he ran away! Tell me, where will he appear next time? Osaka? Nagoya? Or will he show up right outside this office?!”

Facing the Prime Minister’s towering fury, Shiga Kōzo and the other three experts lowered their heads, silent, cold sweat soaking their backs.

Just then, Shiga Kōzo, who had remained silent, suddenly lifted his head as if he had made a certain decision. His eyes held a desperate resolve as he spoke in a deep voice:

“Your Excellency the Prime Minister! Things have come to this point; conventional methods can no longer handle the current crisis! I have a plan that might... be feasible, but the risk is immense!”

Aoi Shōta’s sharp gaze instantly locked onto him: “Speak!”

Shiga Kōzo took a deep breath and spoke clearly, emphasizing every word:

“I believe we should stop trying to cover up and conceal things! We should... publicly disclose the truth about the existence of UMAs and Anomalous Events, along with the news that gods truly exist!”

“What?!” As soon as the words left his mouth, not only Aoi Shōta but also the three experts beside him showed expressions of disbelief!

“Are you insane, Kōzo?!” another expert cried out, losing his composure. “This will trigger global panic and the complete breakdown of social order!”

Aoi Shōta raised a hand to halt the others’ protests, staring intently at Shiga Kōzo: “Keep going! What exactly are you thinking?!”

Shiga Kōzo’s breathing was ragged, but his tone was exceptionally firm:

“Your Excellency the Prime Minister! Do you recall the Oracle from the Three Wise Monkeys, the three Divine Lords, who previously contacted us?

They once stated that when the world’s faith (or awareness) of their existence reaches a certain level, the speed of their descent into this world will greatly accelerate!”

He paused, a hint of fanaticism flashing in his eyes:

“We have been investigating in secret. Just a few days ago, our Exploration Team... deep within the Ancient Altar Ruins beneath Mount Fuji... discovered an incredibly powerful Divine Reaction that had been sealed! After comparing the ancient documents on the Stone Tablet with the snippets of information revealed by the Three Wise Monkeys Divine Lords.

We can essentially confirm... that sleeping existence... is highly likely to be one of the Principal Deities of the Kunitsukami line, the most ancient and venerable lineage in the Great Japanese Empire’s Mythological Pantheon!”

“What?!”

Aoi Shōta abruptly stood up from his chair, leaning forward with his hands braced on the table. His eyes were filled with extreme shock and a trace of... uncontrollable excitement.

“Are... are you telling the truth?!”

“Absolutely true!” Shiga Kōzo nodded emphatically, his voice growing more agitated.

“Your Excellency the Prime Minister! Since the gods will inevitably descend! Since concealment can no longer be maintained! Why don’t we take the initiative and strike?

Rather than waiting for uncontrollable disaster and the slow accumulation of faith, let us... proactively disclose the existence of the gods.

Let us use the full power of the nation for sacrifices and prayers, and at the fastest possible speed, awaken that sleeping Imperial Guardian Deity... ahead of schedule, bringing him into the world!”

“As long as the Great Japanese Empire’s own god descends, what are masked monsters! What are unknown threats! Before a true god, they will all be worthless.

At that time, the Great Japanese Empire will not only easily quell the current crisis but will also... lead the world into a new Age of Gods!”

Shiga Kōzo’s words exploded like thunder in the secret room! The other three experts were stunned speechless by this insane plan.

Aoi Shōta slowly sat back down in his chair, his fingers unconsciously tapping the desk, his expression constantly changing.

Revealing the truth carried enormous risks and could lead to social disintegration; but if they succeeded in awakening the Imperial Deity... the benefits would be immeasurable!
