The World's Richest Man: Start with the Daily Intelligence System

147: Chapter 147 Tang Yi’s RequestZhang Wei regretted not checking the intelligence sooner; this was a matter of life and death.

He sprang up with a kip-up and dashed into the living room, dressing at lightning speed before rushing out the door. An Xiaoxi, who had just woken up, was left dazed.

He rushed all the way to the headquarters of Tang Sheng Culture like a bolt of lightning. As soon as he entered, he was stopped by security.

”Sir, may I ask what business you have here?” the security guard asked, looking at Zhang Wei warily, his right hand subtly resting on the baton at his waist. He gave off the illusion that he would strike down any suspicious person on the spot if anything seemed off.

”I’m looking for your company’s Tang Yi. Let me up immediately.” Zhang Wei didn’t blame the guard for being brash. After all, this was the headquarters of Tang Sheng Culture. Famous artists came and went constantly; if the guards didn’t have this level of awareness, the place would have been overrun by fanatical fans long ago.

The guard remained persistent. ”If you are looking for President Tang, sir, may I ask if you have an appointment? If not, I’m afraid we cannot receive you.”

Seeing that the guard was unyielding, Zhang Wei didn’t want to waste time there. He dialed Tang Yi’s number directly.

At that moment, Tang Yi was sitting in his office, sipping champagne with a smug expression. A few days ago, he had learned from Zhang Wei that Stef was going to hold a concert in City Name. He had rushed to the hotel where the manager was staying that very night and moved the manager with his sincerity. The two parties decided to cooperate.

Today, people from Pretty Country finally arrived, and the two sides formally signed the cooperation contract. He believed that with the influence of a global superstar, Tang Sheng Culture’s reputation would be firmly established as the leader of the domestic entertainment industry.

”Zhang Wei, what do you want? I’m telling you, hurry up and buy some of our company’s stock. Don’t regret it in a few days.”

”What time do you think it is? How can you still talk about stocks? I’m in your company lobby. It’s an absolute emergency, let me up—no, I’ve changed my mind. It’ll be faster if you come down to get me.”

Tang Yi was baffled, but Zhang Wei didn’t look like he was faking it. So, he got up and went downstairs.

”President Zhang is an important partner of our company. Next time, let him through directly.”

Tang Yi gave instructions to the lobby supervisor and then took Zhang Wei upstairs.

There were too many eyes and ears at the headquarters, so Zhang Wei waited until they were in Tang Yi’s office before dumping all the information from the intelligence report onto him.

”You’re saying my eldest brother and the other one want to burn me and the old man to death in the villa?” Tang Yi’s first reaction was disbelief.

After all, they were once family; he couldn’t accept such cruel news all at once.

Zhang Wei sighed. ”Do you think I’d joke about something as serious as human lives? Fortunately, they plan to strike at midnight tonight. Hurry up and communicate with Old Master Tang.”

He could have contacted Zuo Hemei directly to catch them red-handed. However, since those two were raised by Old Master Tang from a young age, he had to respect the family’s decision.

Tang Yi grabbed the phone and dialed Tang Liansheng. After they spoke for a while, Tang Yi hung up with a complex expression.

”Family scandals should not be aired in public. The old man wants to handle this himself. When the time comes, he will naturally hand those two over to the police.”

Zhang Wei sighed inwardly. It seemed the old man still harbored illusions about the two of them, unwilling to accept the fact of his children’s betrayal until the very last moment. But since it was their family matter, Zhang Wei could only wait and see.

Meanwhile, at a cafe in City Name.

”Are we really going to do this?” Tang Zhiyuan sat in a hidden corner, asking Tang Xijun across from him with a face full of worry.

”What else can we do? Are you willing to just become a useless person who lives on such a small amount of money every month? The old man forced our hand.” Tang Xijun’s expression was cold as she vented her deep-seated malice through gritted teeth.

”But... but after all, he was once our father.”

Tang Xijun sneered. ”What’s the use of saying this now? Think about it. In the future, you’ll have to live humbly on that tiny bit of money every month while that guy Tang Yi struts around over your head. Can you stand that?”

”It’s better to risk it all. While we still have some power in the company, as long as they die, we can still control the company with our subordinates. Then, we can take back everything we lost. No one will care how many boy bands you want to sleep with.”

”Let’s do it! We’ll split the company half and half.”

Tang Zhiyuan probably thought of some unsightly scenes and gritted his teeth in agreement.

”I’ll arrange for Kong Xiangdong to pretend there’s an emergency and go to the villa to stall the old man and Tang Yi. You arrange for someone to start the fire, okay?”

”Sure. That’s how we handled the Ren Jiaxuan incident last time. I know what I’m doing.” With that, Tang Xijun got up and left the cafe.

”This woman is truly ruthless,” Tang Zhiyuan remarked. He wouldn’t have even dared to think about something as big as arson and murder. But now that they were grasshoppers on the same string, he could only hope the plan succeeded.

The two began to make their respective arrangements according to the plan. Time quickly reached midnight.

Kong Xiangdong looked at Sheshan Villa ahead, his heart far from calm. His first reaction upon learning of Tang Zhiyuan’s plan a few days ago was to refuse.

He was just a high-level employee; it would be a miracle if he agreed to arson and murder right away. But he couldn’t resist Tang Zhiyuan’s threats and lures. He had already done many dirty deeds for Tang Zhiyuan in the company. If the company were to settle accounts now, he wouldn’t be able to escape.

Since he was going to end up in jail either way, he could only risk it all. But when it came time to actually do it, he started to get scared again. This was a capital offense; anyone would feel the same.

After taking a few deep breaths, Kong Xiangdong went forward and knocked on the door.

The door opened, and Butler Fu looked at him calmly, his eyes as still as an ancient well.

”Um, Butler Fu, something big has happened at the company. I need to report to the old master and President Tang immediately.”

”Since it’s an emergency, hurry to the study. I’ll go wake the old master and notify the young master to come over.” Butler Fu nodded and signaled for Kong Xiangdong to enter.

Kong Xiangdong breathed a sigh of relief. At least the first step of the plan hadn’t been exposed. Next, he just had to wait for Tang Yi to arrive, deliver the fake news, and then he could get away scot-free.

He walked toward the study full of worry, but the moment he pushed open the door, he froze. At that moment, no fewer than ten bodyguards in black were standing in the room, all staring at him.

With a ”thud,” the leader didn’t say a word of nonsense; he stepped forward, twisted his waist, and delivered a heavy punch to Kong Xiangdong’s stomach.

A wave of intense pain accompanied by a sense of suffocation hit him. Kong Xiangdong’s eyes widened, and his body curled into a shrimp-like shape on the ground, only able to make gasping sounds.

Less than half an hour later, a luxury car drove into the villa gates. Shortly after, Kong Xiangdong was sent out. He left the villa expressionless and then flashed a flashlight three times in one direction.

”The plan is going smoothly, let’s go!” Several men hiding in the bushes breathed a sigh of relief when they saw the agreed-upon signal.

They nimbly took out gasoline cans hidden in the grass and crept to the villa’s wall, preparing to pour the gasoline.

Before they could even start, several beams of light hit them from behind. They squinted and looked back, only to find that they had long been surrounded by bodyguards in black. Nearby, Kong Xiangdong was squatting obediently on the ground with his hands over his head.
