The World's Richest Man: Start with the Daily Intelligence System

119: Chapter 119 Ambergris is hard to get”Old Liu has it good, having a girl to keep him company.” After hanging up the phone, Zhang Wei lay on the bed, unable to help but feel envious of Liu Haorui.

”Maybe next time I should tell Wang Xiaohua that Old Liu is actually a hermaphrodite. With Wang Xiaohua’s IQ, she might actually believe it.”

After playing on his phone in bed for a while, Zhang Wei felt a bit bored. He didn’t know when it started, but he had grown accustomed to the noisy antics of An Xiaoxi and Liu Haorui around him.

The sudden silence made him feel quite out of place. Perhaps this was what it felt like to be family.

He secretly made up his mind to stay at most one more day before returning to City Name.

With nothing to do in the room, Zhang Wei decided to wander around the night market. He’d just have some local snacks for dinner.

Haikou faced Zhanjiang across the sea and was also a prime location for producing oysters and scallops.

Along the way through the night market, a seafood barbecue stall could be seen every few steps.

Smelling the aroma of garlic, Zhang Wei couldn’t resist buying two oysters to try. The grilled oysters were still bubbling, and the mixture of garlic and green onions emitted an enticing fragrance. Zhang Wei felt addicted after just one bite. He simply sat down at a folding table in front of the stall and ordered a dozen scallops and oysters.

After wolfing them down, he slapped his forehead in annoyance. He was all alone in Haikou; wasn’t eating so many oysters just asking for trouble?

Currently, it was a critical period for cooperation with the National Space Administration. Zhang Wei had to maintain strict self-discipline; going to a club or anything like that was out of the question.

He could only go back to the hotel gym and do an hour of cardio. Only then did he suppress the surge of vitality in his gut.

Returning to his room, he idled away some time.

Midnight.

Ding: daily intelligence has been updated. Please check it yourself, Host.

Current intelligence area: Entire Hainan Province.

[daily intelligence 01]

Located in the seabed silt 500 meters off the east coast of Dazhou Island in Wanning City, there is a 35-kilogram piece of ambergris. The Host can obtain profit by recovering and selling this item. The specific location has been sent.

[daily intelligence 02]

Located in the sea 120 meters south of Yazhou District, there lives a Pinctada maxima. Within its body, a top-quality South Sea white pearl has developed, reaching a diameter of 23 millimeters. The specific location has been sent to the Host; please go to the local area to capture it yourself.

[daily intelligence 03] Located in the deep sea 60 nautical miles east of Hainan Island, there is a shipwreck from the Southern Song Dynasty. Sunken along with the ship are two boxes of ancient Arabian gold coins, ten boxes of silver coins, and several pieces of coral jade. The value is immense; the Host can obtain huge benefits through salvage. The specific coordinates have been sent; please check them yourself.

Zhang Wei was startled. Was the intelligence for Hainan Province always this high-quality? ambergris, a top-quality South Sea white pearl, and even a Southern Song shipwreck had turned up.

This was the first time he had seen the intelligence system use the phrase ”immense value” to describe a piece of information. One must know that even when the imperial seal of china was worth over a hundred million, the intelligence hadn’t displayed that.

It seemed that salvaging this one ship could put him directly into the top ten of the rich list? Zhang Wei checked the coordinates of the shipwreck with an excited heart.

The result of this look immediately deflated him. The seabed where this ship had sunk was a full 1,600 meters deep. Without a professional diving team and professional salvage vessels and equipment, it was simply impossible to complete. Zhang Wei, currently alone, didn’t dare to hire a salvage team either. If this news got out, he would be in big trouble.

He could only record the location of the shipwreck with a bitter smile, thinking that since ancient shipbuilding technology was limited, shipwrecks happened frequently. As he unlocked more areas with the system, he might discover many more good things in the sea.

In the future, when he had achievements in the business field and sufficient funds, perhaps he really could establish a salvage company to serve himself.

Setting the third piece of intelligence aside, Zhang Wei checked the other two. Fortunately, the locations of the ambergris and the South Sea pearl were closer to the shore, with a water depth of only about three meters.

The only trouble was that Haikou, where he currently was, was at the northernmost point of Hainan Island, while Wanning and Yazhou were both at the southernmost part of the island. It was at least a three-hundred-kilometer drive.

The box of Hai Rui’s manuscripts he dug up yesterday was priceless and certainly couldn’t leave his side. If he hired a driver, it would be disastrous if the manuscripts were stolen from the car while he was in the sea.

After thinking about it, Zhang Wei decided not to change cars; he called the rental company to extend the lease for another three days. Then he went straight to sleep. Tomorrow he had to hit two cities and perform underwater recoveries in both; it would definitely be exhausting. He had to get enough sleep today.

Early the next morning.

Zhang Wei was woken up by his phone alarm. Sitting on the bed and rubbing his still-aching head, Zhang Wei couldn’t help but give a bitter smile.

He had read plenty of power-fantasy novels. When others awakened a system, it was all about being heaven-defying, showing off, and being invincible in the world. But for him, it was running all over the place. He was so miserable he couldn’t even sleep in.

Complaining aside, the intelligence provided by the system was still very good. Zhang Wei washed his face, had a hearty breakfast at the hotel, then checked out and started his journey.

It was a journey of over three hundred kilometers, all on highways. Zhang Wei decided to go to Wanning first to recover the ambergris.

While eating breakfast, he used his phone to look up an overview of ambergris.

This stuff is also called grey amber. It’s an opaque, stone-like waxy mass. Because it emits a unique fragrance, it has been used as a high-grade spice since ancient times and can also be made into accessories like bracelets.

Its formation is extremely difficult. After a sperm whale preys on large squid or giant octopuses, the tough beaks are not easily digested. Since sperm whales have no teeth, these beaks accumulate in the stomach and intestines after ingestion. They constantly stimulate the intestines to secrete a special waxy substance, which over time forms ambergris.

Despite its immense value, Zhang Wei found it a bit disgusting. This was because most ambergris was obtained by humans killing whales and cutting open their bellies. This piece, however, was clearly lying on the seabed.

If it wasn’t from a whale that died naturally, it could only be excrement from the intestinal tract. The thought of picking up a piece of excrement with his own hands made Zhang Wei’s throat feel a bit dry.

After nearly four hours of driving, Wanning City was right before his eyes. As a recognized vacation destination on Hainan Island, Wanning was popular among young people for its stunning sea views and lazy, slow-paced lifestyle.

Considering he had to go into the water for recovery, Zhang Wei drove directly to a seaside guesthouse and booked a luxury suite. He also bought a pair of swimming trunks and a snorkel at the front desk.

In his eyes, wasn’t diving just taking a plunge? He’d be perfectly fine. But when he shivering entered the sea, he was dumbfounded.

On typical beaches, at a certain distance from the shore, there would be wire fences to prevent tourists from going into the deep sea and having accidents. Ordinary people simply couldn’t reach the location shown by the system.

Moreover, being able to swim and diving were two completely different concepts. An average person’s plunge only went to a depth of about two meters, and they couldn’t stay underwater for long. Not to mention diving three meters and bringing up something as heavy as a stone.

For the moment, Zhang Wei had no good solution.
