The World's Richest Man: Start with the Daily Intelligence System

116: Chapter 116 The System Has Actually UpgradedZhang Wei and his group were on a business visit, so Director Guan took them directly to the second floor of the cafeteria for a private meal.

Although it was called a cafeteria, it was no different from a restaurant outside. The meal allowed them all to experience the charm of seafood, including some ingredients like sand worms that the group had never even seen before, let alone eaten.

Director Guan introduced it to them: ”Eat as much as you like. Because of security concerns, the ingredients here are all specially supplied from designated areas, focusing primarily on freshness. The cooks are mostly locals, and they are masters at cooking seafood.”

Everyone thought the food was delicious, but it was a pity that An Xiaoxi wasn’t there; they always felt a bit reserved without her.

Afterward, Chen Jiayan came to the conference room and explained the specific cooperation plan to Director Guan and several other leaders.

The leaders had already approved the general direction previously. This visit was mainly to express their attitude toward the cooperation, and secondly, to discuss some specific details.

Zhang Wei, this hands-off boss, only needed to sit in the audience and watch Chen Jiayan do her thing. He couldn’t help but sigh that being a boss who doesn’t have to do everything personally is just too comfortable.

Just like that, Zhang Wei and his group stayed in W City Name for three days. In addition to discussing business, Director Guan also arranged for staff to take them to visit the launch site and the exhibition hall of the Aerospace Administration Bureau. It was just right for Liu Haorui to accumulate quite a bit of video material.

By the third day, the cooperation plan was finalized, and Zhang Wei and the others left the Aerospace Center.

”Old Zhang, you and Sister Jiayan head back to City Name first. Since we’re already here, we might as well go visit other places in the Province to shoot a few videos,” Liu Haorui said to the group.

The way he was acting so coy, it clearly wasn’t about shooting videos; he obviously wanted to gobble up Wang Xiaohua.

”Let Sister Jiayan take Wang Xiaohua back first. I don’t have anything going on anyway, so I’ll go with you to shoot the videos. It’s been a long time since we’ve gone out to play together. I miss our college days,” Zhang Wei said with a nostalgic expression.

”Old Zhang, what’s the point of seeing you every day? You’re ruining my chances of getting a girlfriend!” Liu Haorui’s whole face fell, and in his anxiety, he blurted out his true feelings. Wang Xiaohua lowered her head shyly to the side.

Zhang Wei laughed out loud: ”Old Liu, you should have said so earlier. Alright then, let’s split up here.”

He then said to Chen Jiayan, who was standing nearby: ”You’ve worked hard these past few days. Go back and take two days off to get some good rest. We’re going to go look around now and buy some local specialties for An Xiaoxi before we leave.”

The group parted ways, and Zhang Wei and Chen Jiayan took a car back to Haikou. They planned to walk around the local market.

Hainan is located at the southernmost tip of China. Besides seafood, the fruit here is also famously delicious. Zhang Wei took Chen Jiayan to look around the largest local farmers’ market. Thinking that fruit didn’t cost much, he simply bought several boxes of mangoes and mini pineapples and arranged for them to be air-freighted back to City Name.

”I bet that before we even get home, An Xiaoxi will already be devouring the fruit,” Chen Jiayan laughed.

The two of them ate some local snacks in the market, and at this moment, a stall caught Zhang Wei’s attention.

On a wooden board covered with a layer of red velvet, various goods of all sizes were placed. There was a wide variety of porcelain, coins, and bracelets. Zhang Wei even saw a Tang Sancai.

”Boss, you can tell at a glance that you’re an expert. These are all high-quality antiques. Feel free to browse and pick whatever you like,” the vendor said enthusiastically.

Zhang Wei was speechless. Did he look that much like a fat sheep? Even if he didn’t know about antiques, he knew that the items on the stall were obviously handicrafts.

However, he was just browsing anyway, so he wouldn’t buy anything. Zhang Wei squatted down and picked up a jade bracelet.

”Boss, you really have an eye for things. You know Empress Dowager Cixi, right? The Old Buddha of the Great Qing Dynasty. This bracelet was worn by her when she came to Hainan. Later, when the foreigners attacked, it was left behind here. It’s a priceless treasure.”

Zhang Wei almost laughed out loud. The Old Buddha fighting against foreign devils? What kind of ridiculous plot was this? Besides, the Old Buddha had never even been to Jiangnan in her entire life, let alone Hainan.

Wanting to tease the vendor, Zhang Wei asked: ”How much for this?”

The vendor looked pained: ”Boss, seeing as you’re a connoisseur, I’ll just treat it as making a friend and won’t make any money off you. You can take it for 200,000.”

”Will you sell it for ten yuan?” Zhang Wei calmly countered with a price.

”Boss, you’re joking, right? This is an antique from the Qing Dynasty. How about this, I’ll take a loss—how about 20,000?”

”Just ten yuan. Not a cent more.”

The vendor was completely dumbfounded: ”Boss, I can’t even afford a meal for ten yuan. How about this, I won’t rip you off. One final price: 2,000. This is really my cost price.”

”Just ten yuan. If not, I’m leaving.” Zhang Wei hadn’t intended to buy it in the first place, and seeing the vendor’s eyes practically spitting fire, he wanted to slip away.

Chen Jiayan, who was standing to the side, spoke up: ”Boss, how about two hundred? We’re just here for tourism, and we want to buy a handicraft to take back as a souvenir.”

”Alright, alright. Two hundred it is. Consider it my first sale of the day.” Having been played by Zhang Wei for so long, the vendor had been ready to get up and start cursing, but upon hearing this, he immediately deflated like a punctured ball and agreed to the offer.

Zhang Wei looked at Chen Jiayan in surprise. He hadn’t expected her to do that. Seeing Chen Jiayan wink at him, a thought immediately popped into his mind.

Chen Jiayan had been a general manager at a jewelry company before, so she must know something about jade. Could this jade bracelet actually be real?

Suppressing the doubt in his heart, Zhang Wei pretended to look pained: ”You woman, you’re really a spendthrift. How is this broken bracelet worth two hundred yuan?” However, his hands didn’t stop, and he took out his phone to pay the vendor.

Picking up the jade bracelet, a voice suddenly sounded in Zhang Wei’s head.

”Detected that the Host has picked up a jade bracelet without relying on the System’s help. The System is beginning to update.”

Update content: When the Host is in Hainan, you will receive three pieces of intelligence every day at 12:00 midnight. The scope of the intelligence covers the entire Hainan.

The estimated System update time is 6 hours. Please wait patiently, Host.

Zhang Wei was caught off guard by the long string of audio that suddenly appeared in his mind. He hadn’t expected the System to have an update day. Looking at the countdown on the blue light screen, Zhang Wei fell into deep thought.

It seems the System is not limited to one place, but unlocks updates through special methods. If he could pick up an item at every place he visited, would he be able to obtain intelligence information from all over the world?

However, considering the explanation the System just gave, even if the current area is unlocked, he must be in the location to obtain the intelligence. It’s impossible for him to run around the world every day for no reason. But at least he wouldn’t have to worry about intelligence drying up in the future.

Chen Jiayan, seeing Zhang Wei silent to the side, thought he was angry and explained: ”I’ve looked at this bracelet carefully; it’s definitely jade. Although the quality might not be the best, a whole bracelet should at least be worth about ten thousand yuan.”

Zhang Wei snapped out of it, masking his emotions with a wry smile: ”I’m not doubting your eye for things. I just suddenly remembered I have something else to take care of. I guess I’ll have to stay in Hainan for a few more days.”

At this moment, he was looking forward to what kind of intelligence he would be able to obtain in Hainan tonight after the System update finished.
