The World's Richest Man: Start with the Daily Intelligence System

128: Chapter 128 Household MattersHe currently owned three properties under his name: the riverside mansion gifted by Zhu Zhendong, the villa back in his hometown, and the property he had just purchased in Hainan.

The first two were currently undergoing renovation, and the last one also needed to be converted into a guesthouse.

Zhang Wei certainly didn’t have the time to supervise the construction, so he could only ask his mother for help.

”Your mother is running to the provincial capital every day now. If you give her more tasks, I won’t even be able to see her,” his father interjected over the phone.

”What does it have to do with you? I’m happy to do it! It’s great that my son is successful and I can manage things for him. Others can’t even wish for this kind of opportunity.”

”Then it’s settled. I’ll take my father to Hainan for the winter anyway; it’s very comfortable there. If you run into any problems there, remember to contact me immediately.”

Zhang Wei briefly explained the situation with Shen Yulin, as he was still worried about any remaining forces from those hooligans. He gave his mother a few reminders.

Relieved of the pressure of being a site supervisor, Zhang Wei relaxed. Only then did he realize he had been driving for two consecutive days and felt almost smelly. He quickly went back to his room to take a shower and catch up on sleep comfortably.

When he opened his eyes again, it was already noon the next day. Having slept for nearly 20 hours, Zhang Wei felt completely reborn.

He pulled open the curtains and stretched widely in the warm early winter sun. No matter what, sleeping in his own bed was the most comfortable.

”Has An Xiaoxi had breakfast yet?” Walking out to the living room, intending to freeload a meal from the Little girl, he saw Chen Jiayan staring intently at him while holding a stack of documents.

”Hahahaha, is CEO Chen also here for breakfast?”

Chen Jiayan rolled her eyes at him: ”My Chairman Zhang, it’s already noon. Why don’t you check what you’re saying? These are all documents requiring your signature. Hurry up; I still have a meeting to get back to.”

”Why did you have to run over personally for such a small matter? Couldn’t you just wait for me to go to the company or arrange for someone to deliver them?” Zhang Wei felt inexplicably guilty; everyone else was working hard while he seemed to be slacking off.

Chen Jiayan ignored his eagerness and maintained a strictly professional demeanor: ”Our first batch of crowdfunding plan products will launch three items: a necklace, a ring box, and earrings. Two of these are planned as collaborations with the National Space Administration and the Shenghai Museum, while the remaining earrings will be Star Jewelry’s debut item. Currently, the product designs are nearing completion thanks to the efforts of our newly established design department working overtime. Once finalized, we can arrange for production samples with the processing manufacturers.”

Zhang Wei also became serious: ”Thank you for your hard work. Tell An Xiaoxi to hurry up with the crowdfunding platform. I specifically want to hold the product launch conference by the end of January. Time is tight, the task is heavy, let’s all work hard together.”

Thinking about it, the situation with the Space Administration didn’t seem to have any major issues. Although he had mentioned the collaboration with the Shenghai Museum to Yu Hongtao, the specific details had not yet been discussed.

”Don’t leave yet. Regarding the Shenghai Museum matter, I’ll arrange to have dinner with Uncle Yu later to see if we can finalize it today... I happened to bring back quite a few good things from Hainan. I’ll let him feast his eyes.”

The trip to Hainan had exhausted him like a grandson, but the rewards were immense: ambergris, top-grade South Sea pearls, yuan dynasty blue and white porcelain, and a box of Hai Rui’s manuscripts. Every single item was priceless.

Zhang Wei had originally planned to send them to the Museum tomorrow for Dr. Zhao to appraise, and simultaneously inquire about the market to see if he could find a reliable buyer. Now that he thought about it, it was better to gather everyone at once and handle both matters together.

”Beep beep beep...”

”Uncle Yu, it’s Zhang Wei. Haven’t contacted you in a while, miss me?” Zhang Wei was being playful and goofy.

”You call a week a long time? My hand starts shaking whenever I answer your calls now. Since meeting you bunch of kids, I’ve had to top up my meal card three times! My old lady at home even suspected a few days ago that I was hiding private savings. How could eating in the cafeteria cost so much money?” Yu Hongtao showed no deference to Zhang Wei and spewed a torrent of negativity.

”You, a distinguished Museum Director, would bring up something as trivial as a meal card? Alright then, I’ll treat you to dinner tonight to repay that meal, how about it?”

If anyone else had invited him to dinner, Yu Hongtao would have been suspicious. Although their Museum wasn’t a sensitive department, one still had to be cautious about meals; it was easy for problems to arise from just one dinner. But with Zhang Wei, he felt no burden, only some curiosity.

”Is the sun rising from the west? Fine, as long as there’s food, I’ll take it. I’ve finally caught a break. Tell me, which restaurant tonight? I’ll bring the old lady along to enjoy the extravagance.”

Zhang Wei was momentarily stumped. He needed Dr. Zhao to appraise the antiques, but bringing the items from Hainan to a restaurant, with many eyes watching, posed a significant risk.

His eyes darted around, and he came up with an idea: ”Eating out seems too distant. Why don’t you come directly to Jiangnan Garden for a private dinner? It’ll be the first time you meet Auntie, so you can get acquainted and we can interact more often in the future.”

Yu Hongtao was indifferent and agreed. Zhang Wei then called to invite Dr. Zhao and Dr. Wu from the Geological Research Institute. After all, Dr. Wu had helped appraise that meteorite for free last time, and Zhang Wei wanted to take this opportunity to thank him properly.

After hanging up, he arranged for Chen Jiayan to contact the chef to prepare the private dinner. Zhang Wei suddenly felt mischievous, grabbed An Xiaoxi, who was watching a drama, and whispered a few words in her ear. An Xiaoxi’s eyes lit up: ”Really? Quick, let’s go see!”

”You can, but you have to come out with me first. Be prepared, there will be excitement to watch tonight.”

The two arrived at the parking lot. The car Zhang Wei rented was scheduled to be picked up by someone the next day, so Zhang Wei couldn’t be bothered to change cars.

After getting into the car, An Xiaoxi impatiently said, ”Hurry up and take out the treasure! I can’t wait.”

Zhang Wei was almost defeated by the Little girl’s assertiveness: ”Can you use your brain before you speak? If passersby heard that, they’d think I’m a perverted old uncle who likes lolis.” With that, he took out the jewelry box from the glove compartment and handed it to her: ”Be careful, don’t touch it directly. This is very likely the world’s largest South Sea pearl. I plan to display it at the company’s opening ceremony and apply for a Guinness World Record.”

An Xiaoxi opened the jewelry box. A soft, radiant pearl lay in the center, emitting a faint halo under the afternoon sun. An Xiaoxi seemed mesmerized, staring at it with dazed eyes.

”This is too beautiful, ten times better looking than that jade piece last time.”

”It’s fine if you hold it while you sleep tonight, but remember to return it to Chen Jiayan on the opening day.”

The Little girl was completely irrational at that moment. Zhang Wei estimated that if he took the pearl away now, the Little girl would fight him to the death in minutes, so he could only use Chen Jiayan as a shield.
