The World's Richest Man: Start with the Daily Intelligence System

120: Chapter 120 The Goods Are in HandIt seemed the only option was to head to the guesthouse and ask around.

Arriving at the guesthouse reception, Zhang Wei saw a young woman sitting on a sofa in the corner of the shop scrolling through her phone, and he explained his requirements to her.

The receptionist put down her phone, bit her lip, and after thinking for a moment, pulled out a travel brochure to introduce things enthusiastically. ”Handsome, I’ve heard your requirements. My suggestion is that you charter a boat to go out to sea and find a senior instructor for one-on-one sessions. The price will definitely be a bit higher, but fortunately, the privacy is good. You can even add some extra maritime activities on the fly without any issues.”

Zhang Wei felt a surge of secret joy. The fewer people who knew about his underwater operations, the better; chartering a boat at a high price was indeed feasible.

On the surface, he pretended to be a bit hesitant, furrowing his brows as he flipped through the brochure in his hand. ”Uh, true, chartering a boat is good, but I’m a person who likes peace and quiet. I don’t like crowds, and talkative crew members won’t do either. Little girl, do you have any suitable recommendations?”

If An Xiaoxi and Liu Haorui heard this—that Zhang Wei liked peace and quiet—haha, they would surely be doubled over with laughter.

Seeing Zhang Wei say this, the receptionist immediately began to speak incessantly.

”Yes, yes, yes! Handsome, you mentioned wanting to dive down about 2-5 meters to see coral and tropical fish—that’s deep diving. I recommend the Blue Blue Diving Club here. They’ve been open for over ten years with zero accidents and a great reputation. You can check their reviews on Dajia.com yourself; everyone praises their instructors’ professionalism.”

”Little girl, I want to go out to sea at noon. Ask them if they have a boat and an instructor available,” Zhang Wei said.

”I’ll contact them right away. Handsome, please sit on the sofa for a moment,” the receptionist said with a smile as she dialed the number.

With the enthusiastic recommendation from the guesthouse reception, Zhang Wei arranged to meet Instructor Wang from the Blue Blue Diving Club to discuss the details.

A seaside café.

Zhang Wei sat by the window and saw a burly, dark-skinned middle-aged man walking in from a distance.

Up close, the man’s face was very dark from long-term UV exposure at the beach. When he took off his sunglasses, a bit of his original skin color was revealed around his eyes.

Zhang Wei didn’t beat around the bush and told Instructor Wang his thoughts directly.

Instructor Wang glanced at the time on his phone and said with some difficulty, ”Handsome, you want to go out at noon? I’m fine, but the boat, captain, and crew... well, it won’t be arranged that quickly.”

Zhang Wei’s right hand tapped a light rhythm on the table as he said with a smile, ”Instructor Wang, I’ll pay 200,000. For this price, can we head out at noon?”

Instructor Wang gasped and said to Zhang Wei with a fawning expression, ”Mr. Zhang, what time do you want to depart? I’ll arrange everything for you immediately.”

Zhang Wei thought to himself that money truly makes the world go round; anything that can be solved with money isn’t a problem.

Zhang Wei shifted his posture, straightened his back, crossed his arms, and tucked his hands under his armpits, saying:

”Instructor Wang, the crew you find must be honest and dutiful, and not very talkative. I like peace and quiet.”

At this moment, Instructor Wang was secretly rejoicing. Where did this fool come from? Usually, chartering a boat for half a day costs at most 10,000 to 20,000, yet he offered ten times the price. He really struck gold today. It would be foolish not to take this money.

To avoid any complications from delays, and with Instructor Wang also worried Zhang Wei might back out last minute, the two looked at each other and said in unison, ”Pleasure doing business with you.”

Before boarding, Zhang Wei signed an agreement with the crew and Instructor Wang stating that all seafood and items caught during this trip belonged to him. If the other party took any of his catch for themselves, they would have to compensate Zhang Wei ten times the amount paid for the trip.

Throughout the journey, Zhang Wei was very excited and didn’t stop. He followed Instructor Wang, practicing underwater breathing techniques and hand signals.

Since they weren’t far from the coast of Dazhou Island, the boat soon reached the specific coordinates Zhang Wei had designated. The boat stopped steadily on the sea under the high sun. The water’s surface was shimmering, and the sunlight reflecting off it was so bright it was hard to keep one’s eyes open.

How could Zhang Wei be in the mood to look at the sea? His mind was fixed on the ambergris.

Before long, with Instructor Wang’s guidance and help, Zhang Wei successfully put on professional diving gear. After checking the equipment and demonstrating the underwater communication signals again, the two of them entered the water together.

Because they were close to the coastline, they only dove to a depth of about 3 meters.

After confirming the coordinates of the ambergris once more, Zhang Wei gestured to Instructor Wang, indicating he wanted to swim around ahead.

Once Instructor Wang confirmed there was no danger around, Zhang Wei happily swam toward the coral reefs. Instructor Wang followed closely behind.

Light filtered through the seawater, illuminating the colorful seaweed. Schools of swaying tropical fish darted around them, and a sea turtle leisurely swam toward Zhang Wei.

At this moment, Zhang Wei had no interest in the scenery. His eyes were like radar, scanning the coral reefs for the ambergris that could appear at any moment. He had searched for pictures of ambergris before setting out, and its appearance was deeply etched into his mind.

In the seabed sediment not far away, he saw a waxy lump that looked like a stone from a distance.

Zhang Wei’s eyes lit up. He no longer had the stumbling gait of a beginner; with a kick of his legs, he left Instructor Wang behind and swam rapidly toward the waxy lump.

Instructor Wang didn’t react in time and fell half a body length behind.

By the time Instructor Wang swam to Zhang Wei’s side, he saw him tightly clutching a ”stone” with one hand while giving the signal to ascend with the other. His head kept bobbing upward, and bubbles were gurgling from his mouth—he looked quite comical.

After confirming with Zhang Wei several times, Instructor Wang still led him slowly back to the surface in disbelief.

This money was just too easy to earn.

With the captain’s help, the stone was finally hauled onto the boat.

Zhang Wei followed closely behind and boarded the boat. He was already exhausted, panting heavily while clutching the stone tightly in a strange posture.

The captain looked at Zhang Wei with a confused and strange expression. ”Mr. Zhang, did you go down to the seabed just to grab a stone?”

Even the experienced captain couldn’t recognize the origin of this stone.

”Yeah, haha. When I saw this stone from a distance on the seabed, I felt a special connection to it. My fish tank at home is just missing a big stone like this, hahaha,” Zhang Wei said, making up a story.

The captain was even more puzzled. Where couldn’t one find a stone? To specifically rent a boat to come out here—he probably had too much money and nothing better to do.

The captain said kindly, ”Mr. Zhang, it’s still early. Would you like to do some fishing, or go into the cabin to rest for a while and watch the sunset in the evening?”

Although few people had seen or knew about ambergris—after all, Hainan Province didn’t have sperm whales—Zhang Wei decided to return as soon as possible just in case. After all, his mission was complete.

Zhang Wei waved his hand, pretending to be exhausted. ”I’ve tried deep diving now. I’m tired. Let’s sail back.”

On the way back, Zhang Wei held the stone even tighter, not letting go for a single moment.

The way everyone looked at him became even stranger. Sure enough, rich people’s minds weren’t quite normal.

The boat reached the port. Just as Zhang Wei was about to disembark, the captain called out to him, looking a bit embarrassed.

”Mr. Zhang, these are some fish and shrimp we just caught at sea. Consider it a small token from the crew.” The captain was worried Zhang Wei might give them a bad review once he got back, so he decided to play the emotional card.

Zhang Wei was quite happy. After thanking the captain, he returned to the guesthouse with the fish, shrimp, and ambergris.

Inside the guesthouse room.

Zhang Wei locked the door, carefully placed the ambergris on the bed, went to the bathroom to take a shower, and changed his clothes.

He opened the refrigerator, took out a can of cold drink, and gulped it down.

As he drank, he stared at this inconspicuous stone. According to market prices, the price of ambergris ranges from a hundred to several thousand yuan per gram. The higher the purity, the more expensive it is. A piece this large must be worth at least ten million yuan.
