The Evolution of the Weakest Ghoul

Chapter 97: Chapter 97: You lead..

If you offend two women, recover by being smart and suave... Basically, run away if you can.

— Grandpa Cedric

”The words of Grandpa are always right,” Ronan thought with a smile as he slowly sneaked away.

”Ronan!!!!”

Just then, a loud shout was heard as Ronan’s legs froze while the birds flew off from the nearby trees.

Damn it, he was caught.

”Where do you think you are going?” Hesa asked as Ronan swallowed and returned to the two women.

Hesa was rubbing her temple. She was having a severe headache, meanwhile, Yen was comforting her.

”How can someone so stupid lead us?”.., Hesa spoke, annoyed.

”There, there, it is okay. Yes, Master is stupid,” Yen spoke from the side.

Meanwhile, Ronan’s head was hung low.

I should have escaped in time.

But he didn’t think that far. He had forgotten they were in a new continent, so everything was new, and if they were to go back... erm, the General would definitely not let him go that easily, so they just had to bite the bullet.

”But Yen, what can we do? Must we return?” Hesa asked as Yen also frowned.

At least they had a memory of the way they took to this place, so they could return, but just returning after leaving didn’t seem ideal.

Yen looked at Ronan, whose head was hung low, then shook her head.

”It must be tough for him... Hesa should take it easy,” Yen thought as she looked at Ronan with pity.

But just then, the three suddenly froze as their ears picked up a strange sound.

”Hahaha.”

”The humans will pay soon enough”

”They think we will attack them today, don’t they?”

At this moment, four Transcendent Orcs returned from the direction that Ronan and the girls came from. The four seemed to be spies as they laughed and walked in a particular direction.

The trio exchanged glances as Ronan and the girls followed the Orc spies.

They walked for a while, crossing a river and passing a massive sand dune, before finally reaching the Orc tribe.

A massive settlement appeared before them, surrounded by towering wooden walls reinforced with thick tree trunks. Hundreds of watchtowers rose above the walls, while countless large huts and stone buildings filled the settlement within. Smoke rose into the sky, and the sounds of Orcs shouting, training, and forging weapons could be heard from afar.

It looked less like a tribe and more like a massive military fortress.

”We go in the dark,” Ronan frowned as he spoke. He could sense a lot of auras and hear a lot of heartbeats.

At least there were tens of thousands of Orcs in this settlement.

”Yes.” The two women replied. They also frowned.

”Heh... I don’t think you should lead us,” suddenly Hesa spoke, catching Ronan and Yen off guard.

Wait, what?

”What do you mean?” Yen asked as Ronan’s eyes narrowed.

”Look at the silly mistake he made. If we didn’t happen to be here when they passed, we would have to return , you know that right? Also if the Orcs and the humans had already engaged in a war then, won’t we be surrounded?” Hesa asked as Yen was quiet.

”Do you want to lead?” Suddenly, Ronan looked at Hesa and asked slowly.

Hesa paused for a while but still spoke.

”I might as well do so. You are not reliable,” Hesa spoke.

”Alright then, I apologize for my mistakes... You lead,” Ronan said, shocking Yen and Hesa.

”But Master, you—” Yen wanted to speak.

”It is okay... Hesa, please lead,” Ronan spoke as Hesa felt uncomfortable.

She looked into Ronan’s eyes, trying to find if he was playing with her, but he had a serious expression.

So, what happened? Did he realize his mistake?

”Alright, I will lead, and like Ronan said, we will move when it is night,” Hesa spoke.

”Yes,” Ronan replied seriously.

Yen looked at Ronan, then Hesa... She felt the two seemed to...

Argh, when she just thought the trio was getting along, it did seem like Ronan was serious about this though.

Did they talk down to him too much?

So, the trio had an awkward silence while the sun set.

Once it was dark, they moved.

The beads were around their wrists, and the pouch containing the seed was in Ronan’s hands.

They had observed the Orcs’ rotation and found the weak point as they sneaked into the settlement.

The scent of roasted meat filled the air as the green bulky creatures laughed out loud.

While the humans expected a war, the Orcs seemed relaxed as they enjoyed the night.

They had fun, ate, and even sat around the fire as they made beastly sounds.

Hesa moved her two fingers as the trio went in deeper.

They passed through a lot of houses. The closer they got to the core, the more spacious the houses were to each other, but also, the more secured the surroundings were.

Now they could sense Sovereign Realm beings around...

On the roof of one of the crude, giant stone houses of the Orcs, Hesa narrowed her eyes.

There was only so much their eyes could see, but with her abilities, she could see more.

She could see all the Sovereign Realm Orcs, but more than that, she could see the Orc Chief, and he... he was resting at the core.

Shir.. that means they couldn’t plant it today. They had to wait for the Orc Chief to move, but how?

Unless they stayed in the Orc settlement and observed it, it was impossible to know if he was at the core or not unless...

Wait, her echolocation ability was perfect for this. Only the distance was...

”Is he there?” Yen asked as Hesa was snapped out of her thoughts.

”Ah... yes. And unless we can set up camp here and observe him every day, we might enter and meet him here like today,” Hesa spoke as Ronan frowned.

What now?

”Heh... leader, what do we suggest we do?” Ronan asked as Hesa was taken aback.

Yes, she just remembered she was the leader, so what should she do?

They couldn’t just depend on luck and choose another day to come. They had just gotten here and didn’t know when the Orc Chief would leave.

But if her echolocation ability was just stronger, then maybe she could.

Hesa stood up as she tried to see if being on her feet increased the range of her ability.

”Careful...” Suddenly, Yen spoke as Hesa’s expression changed.

She saw a Sovereign Orc looking in her direction, and with her standing up, she would be seen directly. So she did the next thing she could think of as she fell to the side.

But if she landed like this, she would inevitably make a noise...

Would they be found out now? How could she make such a rash decision?

”Fuck....” Ronan muttered as he moved.
