The Evolution of the Weakest Ghoul

Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Friend’s discount

Finally, Ronan, with the help of Yen, was done as he grabbed the five long spines.

They were twice his height as the commanders all landed and the army returned.

They eventually stopped a few kilometers away, but not without killing a lot of Orcs. The soldiers had smiles on their faces, especially the veterans.

For them, this was good. At the very least, they would have some days of rest and peace, and most of the injured ones around them could recover. They looked at the human who did all this with a smile.

Although at first they felt the talks about the adventurers were shallow, they said they were good, that they were strong, but alas, it was just talk.

They had never seen the adventurers’ strength. In fact, all they saw was their greediness.

But this man... he changed their view.

”Thank you,” one of the commanders spoke as Ronan looked up at them. At this moment, he and Yen’s hands were covered in green blood and looked messy.

It was such a bad sight to see such beautiful women like this because of him. Ronan wanted both of them to get cleaned up immediately as he spoke.

”It’s okay. Just tell the general I want to be paid, especially for the heads of the Sovereign Orcs I killed,” Ronan spoke as the words the commander wanted to say were stuck in his throat.

What?

Was that what all these adventurers could think of?

At the side, Peci’s face twitched. Was he actually serious? He wanted to be paid... well, it didn’t seem so bad after all, as he was so strong.

”Alright, I will report this to the general,” Peci said with a smile as Ronan nodded.

”You are a good man... now, can we return? I need to clean up,” Ronan spoke as Peci froze.

”Erm... the spine... do you?” Peci didn’t finish as Ronan frowned.

Then his eyes lit up. He almost forgot. For other races, humans needed their bodies and flesh to make weapons and also for beautification.

And a Sovereign Realm Orc spine, if processed well, could make decent weapons for Sovereign Realm experts.

”Nah, I have personal use for it... but if you will buy... I might be willing,” Ronan spoke with a grin as Peci almost coughed.

”Heh... how much?” Peci asked as Ronan pondered.

”You know these spines are highly valued. They aren’t even broken, and were even carefully removed... they look so glossy. These were One-Star Sovereign Realm experts, so they just broke through and are still young in the Sovereign path. They had not grown stronger or weaker, no damage to their spines, and also...”

”What price?” Peci gritted his teeth as he spoke.

It was too much. What was this? New? They just broke through, no damage to their spines?

What bullshit was he sprouting, and what did he mean by their spines would grow weaker as they aged or become stronger in the Sovereign Realm?

How does that work? What was Ronan talking about?

Ronan clicked his teeth as he heard Peci’s words. He unconsciously fell into his old habits and started selling the spine like products to modern customers.

”Cause we are acquaintances... I would say 10,000 gold coins. It would have been less if we were friends... sadly, we are not,” Ronan spoke with pity as not only Peci, but Hesa, Yen, and every commander felt their bodies tremble.

This bitch, did he know how much 10,000 gold coins was? And for what? Five Sovereign Orc spines, not even their full bodies.

What greed! This... this was crazy. Even they hadn’t earned that much.

He wasn’t even sure their general had earned that much once through his salary.

You must know, a complete corpse of a Sovereign Realm being without any damage to flesh and bone, which was impossible, was worth 100 coins, so any damage reduced the price.

For King Realm, it was 1,000.

Only a Supreme Realm was worth 10,000.

That was how insane it was.

And now... Ronan wanted to sell these spines for 10,000 gold coins?

Insane.

”Absolutely not. You... what if we are friends?”

Just then, Peci remembered what Ronan spoke as Ronan thought deeply.

”Hmm, that is good. If we were friends... 9,999 gold coins.”

”Fuck you!”

Peci almost had a heart attack.

What... what kind of monster was this? Just a one-coin difference?

This... kid.

”No, we are not buying,” Peci spoke, even though the overall cost of the Orcs’ bodies would be reduced to barely 60 coins with the spines gone. They would take it like that.

”How sad... well, let’s go,” Ronan spoke as Yen was about to follow, which made the commanders grit their teeth.

”Wait... the body. You have to buy it from him,” Hesa spoke as everyone froze.

It seemed... this was true.

”Huh... really?” Ronan asked, and then, seeing the twisted expressions on the commanders’ faces, he seemed to understand. With Hesa’s explanation, Ronan understood everything.

Basically, once you kill a corpse like this, you have two ways to deal with it.

The first is to give it directly to the military. Basically, it was more like saving. The military would value the corpse at a price just a few coins below its market price. For example, if the corpse was worth 60 coins on the market, the military might value it at 50 coins.

However, you wouldn’t receive those 50 coins immediately. Instead, the military would keep track of all the gold coins you earned this way throughout your time in the military and save them for you.

By the time you retired from the military, you would be given all the gold coins you had earned from your corpses, apart from your meager salary. If you died before retirement, the money would be given to your family.

It was basically like a savings system. By the time you retired, you could have accumulated a large amount of gold, which you could then use to build houses, buy land, and live wealthy.

As for the other path, you could sell the corpse directly to the military for immediate money. However, the military would buy it at a very low price, often barely 50% of its market value.

”So how much are they?” Peci asked as he looked at Hesa. This woman... she...

”I would say... 200 coins,” Ronan spoke as Peci’s eyes lit up.

Could it be? Ronan had actually changed?

Normally, the military would buy it for just thirty coins. After all, the price on the market for the Orc body would be 60 coins after the spines were removed.

But with Ronan selling everything for just 200 coins, that was just an additional 50 coins. Well, he was an adventurer. The military could afford to give him the extra 50 gold coins.

”Actually... since we are friends, I will give you a discount,” Ronan spoke as Peci’s eyes widened.

What happened? Had Ronan changed? Who could understand this adventurer?

”199 coins per one,” Ronan spoke with a smile. Anyways, that was five coins lost for him. Peci should be grateful.

”Wait, what?”

Peci’s expression changed.

Wait... did Ronan just say per one?

Does that mean he was selling each body for 200 coins before... more than 100 coins more than their price would be even if the bodies were complete?

Fuck...

What type of being was this adventurer?
