The Evolution of the Weakest Ghoul

Chapter 62: Chapter 62: A forgotten night

”What’s going on?” Hesa asked coldly, her arms positioned between her and Yen’s open mouth.

Yen froze.

Ronan froze as well.

A chill ran down their backs.

She... she was supposed to be dying already.

How could she still wake up?

Yen was the first to snap out of it.

She immediately prepared to kill Hesa.

Meanwhile, Ronan couldn’t help but look at Hesa’s stats again.

Ronan couldn’t help but feel conflicted.

Hesa was already incredibly powerful, and her Battle Instinct Trait was terrifying. If she became a vampire on top of that, who knew how strong she would become?

But then again.., does it matter ?

Even if Hesa knew their secrets and planned to expose them, once she became a vampire, she would become an undead herself. Who would believe the words of an undead accusing them?

And more importantly, Hesa would no longer be able to return to human society.Whatever plans she had against Ronan or Yen would become meaningless after all she would have lost her place among humanity the moment she became one of them.

Ronan’s expression slowly relaxed.

Besides...If she survived the transformation, she would belong to him.

So, why should he hesitate?

So, Ronan opened his mouth.

”Yen... wait.”

Ronan called out.

Yen paused.

Her crimson eyes glowed fiercely, but she still listened to her Master.

She stopped and retreated, standing over Hesa.

Ronan walked toward them.

Hesa stared at the two undead standing before her.

One looked almost completely human, aside from her crimson eyes and four sharp fangs.

The other was also close to an average human in appearance, except for his bald head, pale skin, crimson eyes, and four sharp fangs.

”I knew it...”

”You are... unde—”

Hesa’s eyes rolled back as she suddenly lost consciousness.

Ronan took a deep breath.

For some reason, his crazy dream suddenly seemed a little more achievable.

If he really wanted to build his harem, he already had Yen.

What if he added Hesa as well?

But the system’s fifty-fifty survival chance weighed heavily on his mind.

He couldn’t help but think that for someone far stronger than himself, the chances of success would be even lower.

Yet Ronan was still willing to bet on it.

Because Hesa was truly dying now.

She had only awakened because of her terrifying instincts.

Even with her body severely injured, her instincts had sensed Yen’s attack and forced her body to awaken in order to defend itself from death.

”Master... what are you thinking?”

Seeing Ronan deep in thought, Yen couldn’t help but ask.

Ronan cracked his neck.

”Yeah...”

”I’ll try to convert her into a vampire.”

Ronan spoke as he approached Hesa.

Yen stood beside him.

She frowned slightly.

But even she could see the benefits of bringing Hesa along.

Hesa was terrifying.

Her strength was frightening, and her Battle Instinct Trait was even more impressive.

If they added the power of a vampire to that...

She would become an existence worth watching.

So Yen simply watched as Ronan opened his mouth, revealed his fangs, and bit down.

This time, Hesa’s body didn’t immediately react.

She merely twitched when Ronan’s fangs pierced her neck.

Then...

Her body suddenly spasmed violently on the ground.

A crimson glow began spreading beneath her skin.

”It has started.”

”Her life and death now depend on her will.”

Ronan spoke as he stood up.

”For now, monitor her.”

”If she fails, drain her blood and feed.”

”If she succeeds, call me.”

Ronan turned and left the cave.

”Yes, Master.”

Yen said

---

Outside

Ronan jumped from one giant rock to another until he finally reached the top.

His vision was as clear as daylight as he looked down at the smoke rising from the campfire they had started an hour ago.

Ronan took a deep breath.

He could feel his tiny heart pounding rapidly.

He could feel the blood flowing through his body.

And he could feel the two bloodlines within him.

One belonged to a ghoul.

The other belonged to a vampire.

His fangs seemed to have grown even longer, while his crimson eyes now contained a trace of darkness.

It was like a drop of black ink had been poured into a bucket of blood.

One vein after another bulged beneath his pale skin, twisting across his body like dark snakes.

[Ding! Host is agitated!]

But Ronan’s reasoning was beginning to fade.

He sank deeper into his own body, feeling the two seemingly calm bloodlines suddenly become agitated.

Then..

A massive battle erupted within him.

His veins throbbed violently, as though they were about to burst.

”Huff... huff...”

Ronan breathed heavily as his senses seemed to stretch thousands of meters in every direction.

He could perceive everything.

From the tiny creatures grazing on the ground to the birds soaring through the sky, nothing escaped his senses.

He could even feel the rock beneath his feet, sensing it deep within the earth where it had been buried.

Then...

His perception continued to expand.

He could see the sky.

It looked almost like a gigantic web woven from countless colors of energy.

And the energy flowing through this continent...

It was the weakest of all.

Ronan’s body suddenly seemed to fall asleep.

His consciousness grew hazy, and his body fell forward.

But just before everything faded completely, he saw a mysterious figure with violet eyes standing before him.

”Wake up.”

”Ha?”

Ronan’s eyes suddenly opened.

Sunlight filled the forest, streaming through the gaps between the branches and leaves.

It was already the next morning.

Ronan could hear two powerful heartbeats coming from inside the cave.

He was also leaning at an awkward forty-five-degree angle against the rock.

”What... what was that?”

Ronan couldn’t help but ask.

His memories of the previous night were incredibly foggy.

He jumped down from the rock and rubbed his head.

Did he really sleep in that position?

No.

The more important question was...

What exactly happened last night?

Ronan frowned.

Perhaps he had simply fallen asleep.

If so, then it was nothing worth worrying about.

Ronan took a deep breath as the fresh morning air brushed against his face.

He then walked toward the cave.

However, only his feet were covered in blood.

A long trail of blood stretched from the cave toward the back of the forest, continuing even farther into the distance.

About a kilometer away, inside a massive ditch, lay countless corpses.

They were the mutilated remains of various creatures.

Birds that had once soared through the sky.

Small creatures that had once roamed the forest.

All of them lay scattered across the ditch.

Their bodies had been brutally torn apart.

Most of their blood and flesh were completely gone.

And Ronan....had absolutely no idea what had happened.
