Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Ghoul Lord’s Command

Roarrrrr

Just then, Ronan, Yen, and Hesa heard a roar.

From their side, a group of undead with decaying flesh suddenly charged toward them.

Ghouls and dozens of them.

”Well, well... the party is starting already,” Ronan thought before speaking to Yen and Hesa.

”I’ll handle them.”

”Be careful, Master,” Yen said from the side.

Meanwhile, Hesa simply folded her arms, watching with an expression of disgust.

Ronan smiled as he took a deep breath.

It was finally time for him to properly test out his system.

Let’s see just how crazy it really was...

BOOM!

Ronan moved.

His body blurred as he collided with the closest ghoul.

His hand shot forward, instantly ripping the ghoul’s head from its body.

[Ding! Homicidal Maniac Title gained!]

[Ding! Host has killed his kin. Gained 0.01 Essence.]

[Ding! Host Trait is evolving.]

Ronan crushed the ghoul’s head in his palm as he tanked a punch to his chest.

He swung his leg, smashing it into another ghoul’s torso and destroying it.

Badump!

His heartbeat accelerated.

A wide grin slowly spread across his face.

This was exhilarating.

He felt alive, Free infact. Was this what he had been missing before?

The more Ronan killed, the more efficient his movements became.

And the more he fought...

The more he felt like this was what he was meant to do.

Yen and Hesa watched from the side, both of their eyes widening slightly.

Ronan’s fighting style was crude.

If they were at the same Realm, either Yen or Hesa could easily take him down.

After all, Ronan had no real combat experience and barely knew how to fight.

Yet the longer he fought...

The more he was hit.

And the more he fought back.

His crude fighting style began to show signs of improvement.

”Huff... huff...”

Ronan’s eyes were practically glowing when he finally finished.

Nearly sixty ghouls lay dead on the ground as he panted heavily.

”See?”

”I’ve got this.”

Ronan said with a smile.

Yen and Hesa simultaneously rolled their eyes.

If the ghouls hadn’t been weaker than Ronan, some of their attacks would have caused serious damage.

Yen was already worried.

It seemed she would have to teach Ronan how to fight.

This was just... disappointing.

Ronan glanced at his status, focusing especially on the Trait that had increased.

[Trait: Flesh Devouring Lv.1 → Flesh Devouring Lv.2]

The change wasn’t huge.

But Ronan could already feel the difference.

The next time he consumed flesh, a small portion would be converted into Essence.

And the higher the Trait level became, the more efficient the conversion would be.

Ronan knew that this number of ghouls wasn’t enough.

He needed more.

His gaze eventually settled on an Ability he hadn’t yet used.

Ghoul Command Lv.1

With this...

Could he theoretically summon ghouls to his location?

Well, there was only one way to find out.

Ronan activated the Ability.

A subtle energy pulse spread outward, covering thousands of meters.

Yen and Hesa immediately sensed the strange energy.

They both looked at Ronan.

”Master... what was that?”

Yen couldn’t help but ask.

Hesa was curious as well.

But Ronan merely smiled.

”Just a little trick.”

”Wait for it.”

Ronan spoke confidently.

One second...

Two...

Thirty seconds...

”Any minute now.”

Ronan said with an embarrassed smile.

Another minute passed.

Hesa: ”..”

Yen: ^..^

”Master... you...”

Yen hesitated.

”Relax.”

”Any minute now.”

Ronan gritted his teeth, his face twitching slightly.

System Daddy, what are you doing? You’re making me lose face in front of these beautiful maidens.

System: ”..”

Just as Ronan was beginning to think his Ability was useless, a soft tremor suddenly came from the ground.

Then it rapidly intensified.

Hundreds of ghouls began gathering around them.

Ronan’s eyes lit up.

It worked!

How dare he doubt the power of System Daddy?

But as he looked more closely, Ronan frowned.

The ghouls were twitching.

He could feel his will acting upon them.

They stood like statues only a meter away from him, yet their heads shook violently as though they were struggling against something.

Wait...

Could it be?

Ronan immediately looked back at his status.

His gaze landed on his title.

Locked.

The creatures of the Abyss would try to kill him because of this.

So...

Was his Ghoul Command struggling against the influence of his title?

Ronan frowned.

Then suddenly, he felt his control weaken.

The ghouls roared and charged toward him.

”It seems my control isn’t strong enough.”

Ronan couldn’t help but think.

If his Ghoul Command were at a higher level, perhaps they wouldn’t have been able to break free from his control.

The range was also pitiful compared to the true size of the Abyss.

If his Command were stronger, he could summon even more ghouls, making it much easier to level up his Traits.

Still...

This was good enough.

Ronan smiled as he moved.

This time, his movements were more coordinated.

His fighting style was improving.

It was still crude and clearly showed that he was nothing more than a beginner.

But he was getting better at killing ghouls.

And he was suffering fewer successful attacks.

Ronan sidestepped an incoming attack and grabbed the ghoul’s outstretched arms.

He lifted it over his shoulders and slammed it into the ground.

Then he raised his foot and stomped down.

CRACK!

The ghoul’s skull shattered like a watermelon.

But Ronan suddenly felt the air being ripped apart as another hand swiped toward his head.

Ronan leaned forward.

He grabbed the ghoul in front of him and fell onto it.

”Geeerrr...”

The ghoul opened its mouth, attempting to bite Ronan.

Ronan quickly rolled to the left, successfully evading the attack.

He grabbed the leg of another ghoul and pulled it off balance.

He kicked forward.

The ghoul’s chest caved inward as several bones broke.

Ronan smiled.

This was so much fun.

He leaped forward.

His knee slammed into another ghoul’s jaw, shattering it instantly.

”He... he’s improving so much.”

Yen spoke from the side as her fingers elongated and hardened into claws.

She stretched out her left palm.

SHNK!

Her hand pierced through the head of a ghoul attacking her.

Its lifeless body collapsed onto the ground.

Yen casually pulled her hand free and flung it to the side, sending blood scattering across the ground.

Hesa was bored but she had to agree with Yen.

Ronan was improving and it was at a terrifying rate.

”He should hurry up and finish this.”

Hesa said, clearly annoyed.

She couldn’t wait for all of this to be over.
