The Evolution of the Weakest Ghoul

Chapter 53: Chapter 53: A dish one would cry for

”All we have to do is steal the Duke’s Seal.”

Yen paused before continuing.

”Master, Bama is head over heels for you, but he isn’t a fool. So instead of directly asking him to give you the seal, why don’t you simply ask to see it?”

”Huh?”

Ronan blinked.

Wait...

This actually made sense.

Ronan..or rather, the Maiden wasn’t from this kingdom. Although it was a little far-fetched, he could simply claim that he was curious about the seal and wanted to see it, either because he wanted his own kingdom to create something similar or simply for comparison.

Maybe the Duke Family couldn’t give the Duke’s Seal directly to the Maiden.

But what if she only wanted to see it?

Ronan almost cried.

Yen...

You are my lucky flower!

Ronan’s resolve grew even firmer.

Yen would definitely be the first member of his future harem.

Such a smart woman.

But then again, Ronan couldn’t get too excited.

There was still one important question.

”How do we steal the Duke’s Seal?” Ronan asked.

Hearing this, Yen hurriedly pulled out a small gray pill.

”Master, this is a sleeping pill. As long as we give it to Bama, he’ll fall asleep for at least two days. During that time, we’ll steal the Duke’s Seal from him and leave.”

Yen smiled.

”Master only needs to time it properly. After asking Bama to show you the Duke’s Seal, you should ask Young Master Bama to leave his door unlocked at night. As for the pill, I’ll make sure he consumes it.”

Yen spoke confidently.

”Yen... you’re scary.”

Ronan couldn’t help but say that.

But then again, it made sense.

Yen was an assassin, after all. The things she had in her arsenal, such as this sleeping pill, weren’t available to ordinary people—especially one capable of knocking someone out for days.

And with her abilities, Ronan could be confident that Bama would actually take the pill.

The only thing that mattered, just as Yen had said, was timing.

They had to get it right.

Otherwise, everything could fall apart.

”Yen, come. Let’s sit down and discuss this more carefully.”

Ronan smiled excitedly.

---

A few minutes later, a knock sounded on the door.

Knock! Knock!

”Your food, Maiden.”

The maid spoke from outside, her face already flushed.

The Maiden...

Why does she always make my heart race?

”Thank you.”

Ronan calmly opened the door and accepted the large food tray from the maid.

”I... It’s what I should—”

Bang!

The door was shut, cutting off the maid’s words.

Inside the room, Ronan carried the tray over to Yen with a smile.

He placed it on the table and opened it.

Steam rose from the delicious-looking cooked beef. Beside it was a large chicken, along with vegetables and various other delicacies.

Ronan closed his eyes and allowed the warmth and steam from the food to wash over his face.

His heart ached.

The food looked incredible.

Yet because he was a ghoul, he couldn’t smell it, nor did it hold any appeal to him.

The delicious meal that Ronan would have enjoyed in his first life was no different from staring at a piece of wood now.

Ronan sighed before picking up the spoon and looking at Yen.

”Come on. Eat.”

Ronan began feeding Yen.

At that moment, Yen’s body froze.

She opened her mouth and slowly accepted the food Ronan fed her.

She...

It was only once before that Ronan had fed her.

At that time, her emotions had been in turmoil as memories of her sister overlapped with Ronan’s actions, making her feel loved and cared for.

And now, the same thing was happening again.

Before, when she was young, she and her sister had always been taken care of and showered with gifts.

Back then, they had been foolish enough to believe that the people doing those things genuinely loved them.

It was only after her sister was forcibly taken away that Yen saw the true reality of this world.

Especially because of her beautiful face.

People looked at her, but there was no genuine love in their eyes.

No one truly cared about her.

That was one of the reasons she had used all her abilities to obtain an artifact capable of concealing her true appearance from the world.

She pretended to be nothing more than an ordinary girl.

And that was how she had lived for years.

Only Ronan had ever seen her true face because he was an undead creature.

But even when she had tried to kill him, and even after she had been handed over to him as a slave...

Ronan or rather, the Maiden had never treated her like a slave.

She had never forced Yen to do anything terrifying.

Instead, she treated her more like a friend.

And now...

She was actually feeding her.

Yen didn’t even realize when tears began falling from her eyes.

”Hey, hey... Is it that delicious?”

Ronan couldn’t help but ask as he stared at Yen crying while she ate.

Hearing this, Yen couldn’t help but laugh.

Her laughter was melodious, like the gentle chime of bells.

”It is.”

Yen spoke.

Ronan smiled.

But his heart was shattered.

A food so delicious that you’d cry while eating it...

Damn it.

He didn’t want to be a ghoul anymore.

Fuck this shit.

He had lost the chance to enjoy food like this forever.

Yen looked at Ronan, who continued feeding her.

She was slightly shocked.

She had thought that by telling the Maiden how delicious the food was, perhaps she would be tempted to eat as well.

But the Maiden didn’t seem moved at all.

Wow...

That was a massive shock to Yen.

Ronan and Yen didn’t speak again until the food was finished.

The room remained quiet, with only the soft sounds of Yen chewing filling the air.

Finally, Yen finished eating.

Ronan picked up a small napkin from the tray and gently wiped the oil from Yen’s lips.

Yen was caught off guard once again.

Ronan’s finger brushed against her lips, sending an electric shock through her body.

After folding the napkin and placing it to the side, Ronan spoke.

”Come to think of it...”

”Yen, I know you’re an assassin, and you tried to kill Bama. But why?”

”Is it really because he stole your lover, or is there something else?”

Ronan asked.

Yen’s lips trembled.

”Master... I don’t have a lover!”

Yen said angrily.

”Ah... okay. Chill.”

Ronan coughed lightly.

”But, Yen...”

”Tell me.”

”What is your background?”

”And why do you want to kill Bama?”
