ShangriLa Frontier ~ Shitty Games Hunter Challenges Godly Game ~

Another rather interesting fact that I have managed to spot while fighting the Slaughter Demon: the main body of the Slaughter Demon has a huge mouth with rows of sharp fangs that spreads to the side of its face, but it still has the face of its prey imbued in its head at the same time. It floats right above the place where the monster’s nose was supposed to be, so it was behaving in a curious way. Every time the demon’s face moved, the human face would also shift its position and move about.

「Hey, wait just a…… Oh! Now look what you have done! The whole tension is basically gone now! Thanks for nothing, I guess!」

「You’d better watch out, people! If you get devoured by this thing, you won’t just simply die! You will join the ranks of this monster as a part of it!」

「No! No, no, no! No way! My perfect face is only suitable to go together with my perfect body! No monster can have it, no matter what!」

「Hey, if you were to ask me, I’d say that the body of this monster is also not half-bad. I mean, that’s only my opinion, but hot damn……!」

「Not half-bad!? That’s the epitome of masculinity if I have ever seen one myself! Just look at all those muscles! Look at how well-developed, bulging and eye-catching they are! This is it! That’s what I have been waiting for! Hooray for bulging muscles! I can die a happy man now!」

「Nuguooooaaahhh……」

Even when her younger brother’s face is floating right in front of her, Pencilgton shows no signs of hesitation and just unloads onto the demon with her spear. Or rather, every time the demon was donning Allslot’s face, Pencilgton’s attacks were growing even more ferocious than ever before. And it could also be seen in Allslot’s eyes and face: he knew what was going on and it was scaring him shitless. Well, not that I can really blame him for that. I’d probably be scared shitless as well if I was in a situation so terrifying unique like this.

However, the current demon is still in a state where it was not done eating and growing, and after consuming one more person it now managed to grow six arms! But if trying to engage it at close distance is going to result in you being eaten before you get to try and damage it in any sort of way, then it’s only natural for the players to fall back and try to keep their distance, at least until someone specialized in long-range combat comes to our aid.

But someone had to engage this thing at close range. And that responsibility fell onto the lap of yours truly, Pencilgton, as well as few others high-level RPA players. We were the most aware of what was currently going on here, and it was our duty to keep that thing firmly in check.

「Comrade! Don’t you think that this might as well be a scripted event!? Aren’t we supposed to lose in here for things to progress!? Because it certainly feels that way to me!」

「It very well may be so! However, if we were to lose here now, then all of our efforts thus far would be gone to waste! And that’s something that I will absolutely not allow! So hold on and just do your best to keep that thing in check!」

In fact, the Slaughter Demon is a strong enemy, but even though it is extremely tough, it is troublesome to have super armor installed and fully operational at all times. Especially since the moves of those six hands seemed to be largely uncoordinated for the most part, and that could lead to carelessness and mistakes. And carelessness more often than not is equal to a certain death looming over you.

「Sanraku-san! We are going to move onto the offensive as well!」

「Preparing the shot: I recommend everyone else to evacuate the nearby area if you don’t want to be caught in the blast.」

Nice, I like the sound of that declaration quite a lot. That’s the ShangriLa Frontier’s AI for you: it’s not behaving like a top-tier player, but it is certainly better than a bad player.

Let’s set up a nice little aggro decoy with the help of the “Utsuro Mikagami” skill, and when the Slaughter Demon gets caught in it, Emul’s magic projectile and Sigma’s exploding shell collide together into the demon and erupt in a huge explosion. The rest of the players (mainly the close-range rookies who did not have any means of engaging the enemies at long-distances) who turned into spectators were quite dumbfounded seeing both Sigma and Emul in action, excited to see a Robo Girl and a Vorpal Bunny jump into the action in such a style.

「Slaughteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer!!!」

Oho, what’s this? Was the Slaughter Demon screaming in pain just now? Does that mean that the strategy is working? Could it be that our attacks were finally starting to take some effect? No, I can feel it in my bones. Its body might be hurting, but deep down inside, its core is still going strong and unfazed. …… So in that case, what should we do now? Does that mean that we really have to take a high risk if we ever want to count on getting a high reward?

「We have been stabbing and slashing at it for a while now, but all of our efforts seem to have no effect on it! At this rate we might actually want to try some sort of a different approach! If it is resistant to all sorts of physical attacks, then maybe poison is going to do the trick here?」

「We have already tried a few different debuffs! We tried Paralysis! We tried Blind! We tried Burn! We tried Frostbite! This thing seems to be mainly composed of muscle tissue, but it turned out to be resistant to all of the above debuffs! Talk about one hell of a cheeky opponent! Hey there, close-range group! So far, Poison seems to be our best bet! So if anyone of you have something that can effectively inflict that thing with Poison debuff, I advice continuing with that! This way you can greatly contribute to the battle as well!」

There was no reply on our end, because there was no real need to give one. That being said, some people stated to loudly argue with one another if something so simple as Poison is really going to work, especially since everything else seemed to have failed. Of course, vast majority of those people were the newbie players, imagine that. Ahh, the glorious days of being both ignorant and innocent……! How I miss you sometimes!

「Hey, comrades! Listen up! I think that I get it now! Maybe the only thing that is vulnerable to attacks is that abnormal—looking arm! Yes, that’s it! See? This arm that is the middle one on the right side seems to be paralyzed at the current moment!」
