Global Lords: Me and My Calabash Kiddos

Chapter 11: Chapter 9: Transaction from the Monster Region

”Activate Beast Taming Skill!”

After suppressing the White Tiger, Yi Tian prepares to tame it.

”LV.4 Beast Taming Skill, detected Lord’s Spiritual Power: 220, Wind and Cloud White Tiger’s Spiritual Power: 50. Every doubling of Beast Tamer’s Spiritual Power increases success rate by 10%. Thus, taming success rate increased by 40%. Current taming success rate: 80%.”

”Beast Taming successful! Wind and Cloud White Tiger detected to have S-level potential, Territory Points increased by 1000.”

Race: Wind and Cloud White Tiger.

Strength: 100.

Physique: 100.

Speed: 150.

Spirit: 50.

Talent One: Chasing Wind.

Talent Two: King of a Hundred Beasts.

Loyalty: 85 (Loyalty below 60 risks leaving).

Note: Beasts tamed by Beast Tamer cannot leave the territory.

”Congratulations, Lord, for taming an S-level savage beast. Spiritual Power +30.”

”Congratulations, Lord, for successfully repelling the monster tide assault. Reward: 20 free attribute points.”

After being tamed by Yi Tian, the White Tiger affectionately rubs its head against Yi Tian.

Yi Tian realizes that Beast Taming is more like mental control.

”You little tiger, you really put me through the wringer.”

Yi Tian pats the Wind and Cloud White Tiger on the head, scolding with a chuckle.

”Roar...”

The Wind and Cloud White Tiger lets out a low growl. It’s confused—playing happily in the forest, why did it suddenly get transported here and then controlled?

Yi Tian checks the other five adult tigers. Three are knocked out, but not in any danger.

The other two are lightly injured, currently lying there pretending to be dead.

These five adult tigers only have 20 Spirit each. With Yi Tian’s Beast Tamer level and Spiritual Power, it’s a 100% tame guaranteed.

”Congratulations, Lord, for taming five tigers. Spiritual Power +10 in total.”

”Congratulations, Lord. Beast Taming Skill +1, Beast Taming Skill LV.5, success rate 50%.”

”Five tigers have D-level potential, total Territory Points increased by 250.”

Celestial Dao continues prompting more rewards.

”Hmm, these tigers are currently F-level, still have room to grow!”

Yi Tian nods with satisfaction.

E-level potential gives +30 Territory Points, D-level gives +50, C-level gives +100, B-level gives +200, A-level gives +500, S-level gives +1000, SS-level gives +2000, SSS-level gives +5000, Divine-level gives +10000.

Twenty attribute points, Yi Tian doesn’t hesitate—all go to Agility.

In martial arts, speed is everything. Yi Tian is going to be the fastest man around.

Yi Tian can’t help but check his personal stats.

Lord: Yi Tian.

Race: Earth Human Race.

Strength: 134.

Agility: 130.

Physique: 110.

Spiritual Power: 260.

Territory Level: Level 4 (11400/20000).

Celestial Dao Coin: 104,500,000.

Spirit Coin: 10,000.

”From now on, you’ll be called Little White. And you guys are Tiger One, Tiger Two, Tiger Three, Tiger Four, Tiger Five.”

Yi Tian gives orders to the six tigers as he heads back to camp.

Big Child is sitting atop Wind and Cloud White Tiger, her little feet swinging back and forth.

Wind and Cloud White Tiger doesn’t like it, throwing Yi Tian a pitiful look.

And judging by the expression, it’s not too fond of the name, either.

Yi Tian can’t think up any better names. Even with the Calabash Sisters, Yi Tian just randomly named them: Yi Hong’Er, Yi Cheng’Er, Yi Huang’Er, Yi Lu’Er, Yi Qing’Er, Yi Lan’Er, Yi Zi’Er.

Yi Tian usually doesn’t call the Calabash Sisters by name, just refers to them as Big Child and Second Child, that sort of thing.

The ”Five Tiger Generals” don’t mind their names, though—they’re obedient enough.

What’s giving Yi Tian a headache is that these ”Five Tiger Generals” need at least 20kg of meat every day. The territory has almost no game—dozen rabbits don’t even fill the tigers’ teeth.

”Won’t be taming savage beasts so recklessly in the future. Even if I do tame some, I’ll auction them off; a live savage beast is definitely worth more than a dead one.”

By meat prices before, 100kg meat a day is 2000 Celestial Dao Coins. That’s a massive expense.

Luckily, after this monster wave, meat prices are sure to plummet.

The main issue is the tigers aren’t bringing any economic gain—just eating and drinking. Heartache!

Dinner’s long since been planned: roast rabbit! Dessert is watermelon.

There’s still a dozen or so watermelons left to finish.

Yi Tian teaches Big Child how to roast the rabbit, telling her to flip it every so often. He’ll use what little free time he has to plant cabbages and bok choy.

Once the vegetables are planted and watered, Yi Tian gnaws on the slightly charred rabbit while opening the Auction House.

He’s preparing the materials for a large-scale water purifier, going to make one for daily drinking water.

Large-scale Water Purifier (Level 3 Tool Platform, Plastic*100, Wood*5, Iron*10, Silver*200, Glass*2, Charcoal*5, Copper*10, Beast Core*1, Celestial Dao Coin 2000).

To upgrade to Level 3 Tool Platform: Iron*1000, Copper*100, Celestial Dao Coin 10000.

Yi Tian, tears in his eyes, buys some plastic from a shady merchant. Then he upgrades the Tool Platform.

All in all, he’s shelled out 30,000 Celestial Dao Coins.

Just as Yi Tian is about to log off the Auction House, he suddenly finds someone has sent a private chat request.

Auction House isn’t the same as chat room—it needs both sides to agree, both online, to private chat. You can’t even leave a message otherwise.

”Phoenix Race Purple Phoenix Moon Dance! Could this really be a Phoenix?”

Yi Tian says uncertainly. After all, the auction isn’t real-name authentication. You could even label yourself Divine Race.

Anyone can up their prestige—easy!

Yi Tian clicks agree!

”Wealthiest in the World—are you Human Race?” The other side isn’t sure of Yi Tian’s identity either.

”The genuine article! If you have something to say, make it quick,” Yi Tian replies impatiently.

”Heh, Humanity’s got nothing but a bit of petty cleverness,” comes the mocking reply—the other side clearly doesn’t like Yi Tian’s attitude.

Yi Tian takes a bite of rabbit and, seeing the other party act so cocky, is about to exit the chat.

But then the other party sends another message: ”[S-level Heavenly and Earthly Treasure Vermilion Fruit Tree*1][A-level Heavenly and Earthly Treasure Jade Spirit Peach Tree*1]. Interested?”

”Holy crap, maybe this really is the legendary Phoenix. Dominating the territory right from the start. And an elite in the Monster Region, too.”

These two Heavenly and Earthly Treasures leave Yi Tian stunned. He’s got a lucky wheel and a huge advantage, that’s how he managed to get one Cyan Spirit Fruit Tree. Phoenix Race actually has two such treasures, and at such high levels.

Vermilion Fruit: S-level Heavenly and Earthly Treasure. 300 months from flowering to ripe, yields 24 fruits; first consumption: Spiritual Power +20, Strength +10, Physique +10. Second consumption only adds Spiritual Power, no longer increases Strength or Physique, and the effect on Spiritual Power diminishes.

Jade Spirit Peach: A-level Heavenly and Earthly Treasure. 100 months from flowering to ripe, yields 36 fruits; first consumption: Spiritual Power +15, Physique +10. Second consumption only adds Spiritual Power, no more Physique, and diminishing returns.

Stay cool! Yi Tian’s eyes glint craftily—he’s gotta get his hands on these two.

”Why are you looking for me? I’m Human Race, how could I compare with you Phoenixes?”

Yi Tian teases nonchalantly.

”Who doesn’t know you’re the Wealthiest in the World? Selling watermelons, mass resources, strategy guides selling like crazy—you raked it in. So, do you want them, or not? Just say it straight!” Purple Phoenix Moon Dance replies.

”Though these are old trees and their yield is tempting, a 300-month ripening time—don’t know if I’ll live that long!” Yi Tian replies ambiguously.

”Plenty of people in our Zone pulled Wood Spirit Liquid. Each drop shortens ripening by 3 days. Your Zone should get Wood Spirit Liquid soon,” Purple Phoenix Moon Dance replies.

”Too high a cost like that, not worth it,” Yi Tian chuckles—he won’t let Purple Phoenix Moon Dance talk circles around him.

Heavenly and Earthly Treasure prices may be high, but the biggest drawback is the long growing time. Yi Tian’s sure no one in the Monster Region will blow a fortune on these old trees.

Besides, folks in the Monster Region don’t necessarily care about added attributes.

S-level Heavenly and Earthly Treasures are high-grade, but this Vermilion Fruit yields too many fruits, so the efficacy is diluted. Some S-level Spirit Fruit Trees supposedly bear just one fruit—super potent. One can push an Earthling’s stats past 100 in all dimensions.

Plus—money! It’s only their third day in the Celestial Dao World. Most people are barely scraping by. Who’d buy old trees that are more wishful thinking than practical?

”Hmph! Spare me the chatter. Buy or not—one word,” Purple Phoenix Moon Dance is getting impatient.

”These two Heavenly and Earthly Treasures only boost Spiritual Power, and we humans don’t even have Spiritual Power. So, give me a fair price, and I’ll buy them as ornamental trees—wasn’t planning on eating Spirit Fruit anyway.”

Yi Tian works in some invisible haggling, nearly devaluing the Vermilion Fruit Tree and Jade Spirit Peach Tree into firewood.

”Three million Celestial Dao Coins!” Purple Phoenix Moon Dance.

”I’ll maybe consider at ten thousand. With the Celestial Dao changing so wildly, these two old trees might just end up as logs.”

Maybe they are worth three million Celestial Dao Coins, but Yi Tian thinks Purple Phoenix Moon Dance is asking sky-high prices.

Theoretically, one Vermilion Fruit’s 10 points each of Physique and Strength is worth 300,000 Celestial Dao Coins—or more. And that’s just one fruit out of 24.

But in the Celestial Dao World, the future’s uncertain—300 months is just too long.

”Wealthiest in the World, I’d rather burn them for fire than sell to you for ten thousand. Minimum two million Celestial Dao Coins—plenty of others have offered that,”

Purple Phoenix Moon Dance is angry at first, but then changes tactics mid-sentence.

”Thirty thousand, that’s all the Celestial Dao Coins I have. That’s my max.” Yi Tian is sharp—he’s not buying Purple Phoenix Moon Dance’s story.

Ask big, pay small. If these old trees were in the hands of ordinary living creatures, Yi Tian could snap them up for thirty grand.

But monster races play by different rules. Yi Tian knows where the line is and always keeps control.

He’s determined to get those two old trees, but doesn’t want to look desperate.

”What a joke—you sold watermelons for over 300,000. 1 million—that’s my bottom line,” Purple Phoenix Moon Dance replies.

”Heh, enough talk. 200,000 Celestial Dao Coins, that’s my absolute max. Sure, I’ve got a lot of Celestial Dao Coins, but I’m not wasting them on meaningless stuff. Don’t argue, we both know what’s up. I’m buying these old trees just for some hope. It works, great; if not, forget it. In Huaxia we say ’not every deal ends in profit, but there’s always goodwill.’ Hope we’ll work together again.”

Yi Tian’s words are gentle but firm.

200,000 Celestial Dao Coins—an astronomical sum for most intelligent creatures, though for monster races it feels a little high, a little low.

Purple Phoenix Moon Dance actually gets bluffed by Yi Tian, thinking if the price is pushed again Yi Tian will really walk away ’goodwill or not’.

Purple Phoenix Moon Dance doesn’t dare risk auctioning the two treasures in case they’re stuck in hand. 300 months ripening—it’s intimidating.

”[Vermilion Fruit Tree*1][Jade Spirit Peach Tree*1]—deal for 200,000 Celestial Dao Coins.”

Purple Phoenix Moon Dance doesn’t bother replying, just sends the trade offer.

Yi Tian grins and hits confirm.
