Global Lords: Me and My Calabash Kiddos

Chapter 6: Chapter 4: Eliminating the Brown Bear

Lord: Yi Tian.

Race: Earth Human Race.

ID: Zone 10086, Subdivision 66, No. 99999.

Strength: 114.

Agility: 50.

Constitution: 50.

Spiritual Power: 10.

Talent: Mountain Lifting and Cauldron Carrying (SSS-level).

Skills: None.

Territory Level: Level 0 (90/100).

”Territory Level!”

Yi Tian thought for a moment—according to the Celestial Dao Stone, at the end of every month, the Celestial Dao would conduct a major assessment. The higher the territory level, the more beasts and natives attack the territory.

Of course, after completing the major assessment, the higher the level of the territory, the richer the rewards.

Fail the end-of-month assessment, and that means death.

As always, the strong get stronger.

”Three wooden houses, each adds 10 points. The toilet adds 10 points. The wooden fence surprisingly adds 50 points. The tables, chairs, and stools are too crude, so no points for those. Just 10 points left to upgrade. Anyway, more Calabash Sisters will be arriving tomorrow, so I’ll build another wooden house and level up the territory.”

Once the idea formed, Yi Tian hauled wood and made iron nails. In less than ten minutes, another wooden house went up, standing side by side.

”Congratulations, Lord. Territory has reached Level 1. Next upgrade (100/500). Currently at protection status, any house or fence destroyed will drop the territory’s level.”

”Congratulations, Lord, for being the first in Subdivision 66 to reach Territory Level 1. Reward: one Water Element Core and 10,000 Celestial Dao Coins.”

”Congratulations, Lord, for being the first in Zone 10086 to reach Territory Level 1. Reward: Strength +10 permanently, Agility +10 permanently, Constitution +10 permanently, Spiritual Power +10 permanently. 100,000 Celestial Dao Coins.”

A surge of strength descended from the sky, and Yi Tian felt baptized, his whole body comfortable and his mind clearer.

Celestial Dao Coins: 342,000.

Spirit Coins: 10,000 (small change exchanged from Celestial Dao Coins).

Strength: 124.

Constitution: 60.

Agility: 60.

”This Celestial Dao World really is a game for the strong! Upgrading Agility and Constitution to 50 ahead of time was a smart move. Once any attribute passes 50, every extra point costs 10,000 Celestial Dao Coins. So, the big area reward is effectively worth 400,000 Celestial Dao Coins. And Spiritual Power goes up as well.”

Yi Tian felt strength filling his body, and he was absolutely confident he could take on any of the three calamities.

The Lightning Python is fast, but its killing method is to use its strength to strangle prey. With Mountain Lifting and Cauldron Carrying activated, Yi Tian’s strength surged to 248. He could definitely control the python before it could finish strangling him.

Not to mention, humans are creatures of wisdom. Yi Tian would never stupidly go unarmed.

With a thought, Yi Tian opened the Lottery Compass. Counting yesterday and today, he had two lottery points, good for two draws.

”Activate Two One-Star Lotteries!”

No hesitation, started both lottery draws immediately.

”Ding! Congratulations, Master of the Roulette Wheel, you’ve obtained one semi-automatic clothes maker.”

”Ding! Congratulations, Master of the Roulette Wheel, you’ve obtained a D-level Weapon: Purple Steel Mountain-Cracking Blade.”

With a flash of light, a machine as massive as a wooden house appeared before Yi Tian.

Yi Tian used the Celestial Dao Stone to scan the semi-automatic clothes maker, only to find it would be considered high technology on Earth.

A super-precise machine; just turn the handle, put in the materials, and clothes are produced.

”Human Race, Celestial Gift Race, Heaven-Supporting Race, Angel Race, Minotaur Race, Four-armed Race, Turtle Race, Catman Race...”

Yi Tian saw hundreds of preset buttons. Some of these races are tall, some short, some have wings, some have tails, some have four arms. There’s even an adjustment for size.

Clothes for these races are basically universal for the Cosmic Ten Thousand Races, like Elf Race, Purple-eyed Race, Snow Race, Blue-eyed Race, and other intelligent beings—clothes interchangeable of these types.

Yi Tian sized it up: this machine is no worse than an S-level reward.

Everything transmigrated over with just the clothes on their back, all jewelry lost.

So a machine that can make clothes for all races has huge potential. Only drawback: it needs someone with great endurance and strength to keep turning the handle.

Looks like one of the Calabash Sisters already has a job lined up.

”Sigh! The Celestial Dao still keeps up appearances. If intelligent life arrived here buck naked, I could’ve sold clothes at a heavenly price, nothing would beat that. Now everyone’s got one set of clothes; food is the priority, not material goods.”

Yi Tian couldn’t help sighing with some regret.

”Not a bad blade. D-level reward, only a one-in-thirty-six chance I actually drew it.”

”Yeah, manufacturing tech. Also one-in-thirty-six odds.”

He picked up the hefty Purple Steel Mountain-Cracking Blade—it looked every bit like a Divine Weapon.

”Time to build a wooden warehouse. The semi-automatic clothes maker is too useful for me to leave it exposed to the elements.”

Opened the construction platform: medium wooden warehouse, 100 square meters, needs 500 wood, 1000 iron nails.

Once built, it took Yi Tian all his strength to push the semi-automatic clothes maker inside.

Checked the territory points—up by 50.

Can’t make clothes yet—fabric, thread, fur, plastic, copper... all raw materials for clothes making.

Yi Tian opened the wooden door and lifted the mountain-cracking blade.

At a glance, he spotted an iron chest, about 100 meters away.

”Not bad luck.”

Yi Tian reached the iron chest. The Celestial Dao Stone is the key to open a Celestial Dao Treasure Chest. Scan it, the chest flashed white, and then disintegrated.

”Lord opened a Black Iron Treasure Chest: received Iron*5, Celestial Dao Coin*100, Cotton Cloth*10, Willow Sapling*5, 500g compressed biscuits.”

With the Celestial Dao prompt, Yi Tian felt a burst of disappointment.

Yi Tian’s net worth is now in the tens of millions of Spirit Coins, so this meager loot fails to impress.

Of course, to other survivalists, opening a Black Iron Treasure Chest is as good as a lifeline.

After moving the items inside the protective fence, Yi Tian set out again to find more supplies.

With higher Constitution, not just defense but endurance is greatly improved as well.

Sprinting fast, he barely felt tired at all.

With 60 Agility, Yi Tian easily ran across the grassland and found another Black Iron Treasure Chest.

”Iron*5, Celestial Dao Coin*100, Willow Sapling*5, Flint*1, Vacuum-packed Beef 500g, Bottled Milk 1L.”

This treasure chest is much the same as the one before.

The last Celestial Dao Treasure Chest, Yi Tian searched for a long time and still didn’t see it.

No sign in the lake either; Yi Tian guessed it must be in the forest or on the mountain.

It was getting dark. Yi Tian, blade in hand, entered the woods.

In the woods, Yi Tian immediately spotted the Celestial Dao Treasure Chest in the center—not a Black Iron Treasure Chest, but a Bronze Treasure Chest.

No doubt, the Bronze Treasure Chest’s loot would be richer.

”Auuuurgh...”

Yi Tian had barely stepped into the woods for three seconds before an enormous roar exploded. It was the brown bear with strength at 100.

Yi Tian saw the brown bear up close for the first time—over three meters long, a full coat of brown fur, thick forelimbs, a mouth full of sharp teeth.

Not much different from Earth’s brown bears, but with more intense momentum.

In three-dimensional attribute comparison, Yi Tian had the upper hand, but that didn’t mean victory over the brown bear was certain.

The Celestial Dao’s evaluation of strength isn’t just the three major attributes.

Yi Tian calculated the brown bear’s hidden stats: length, estimated weight, fang length, claw length.

The brown bear surged towards Yi Tian—its agility was also 50, but its bulk limited running speed.

Yi Tian was confident in taking down the brown bear, but he didn’t rush to fight. Instead, he quickly retreated, preparing to exit the woods.

Once Yi Tian left the woods, the brown bear kept chasing.

When he was ten meters from the woods, the brown bear stopped.

At this point only three meters separated Yi Tian from the brown bear. Yi Tian tightened his grip on the Purple Steel Mountain-Cracking Blade, while the brown bear stood upright, constantly pounding its chest with its paws.

Powerless rage!

Yi Tian thought of this term. The Celestial Dao Rules restricted the brown bear to within ten meters of the woods.

Good thing for those rules—otherwise, nobody in the region would survive the opening round.

Staring at its ”food” so close but unable to act, the brown bear was helpless.

Yi Tian stepped forward, planning to exploit the Celestial Dao Rules to slash at the bear.

In theory, Yi Tian’s blade could reach the brown bear, but the bear couldn’t touch him.

But, at the very instant the blade fell, the brown bear suddenly dodged forward and swiped at Yi Tian with a paw.

Yi Tian stayed alert, leaped back, and avoided the attack.

The brown bear was now eleven meters outside the woods.

Yi Tian had an epiphany: while the brown bear is restricted, Trial Takers can’t use this loophole to attack it.

Reckless attacks might get you killed.

To confirm his suspicions, Yi Tian slashed again. As expected, the bear lunged forward another step.

Yi Tian kept retreating. When he was a hundred meters from the forest, the brown bear stopped roaring and silently returned inside.

Yi Tian pondered for a while, then sneaked another look at the woods.

This time, though, Yi Tian didn’t go in but stayed within ten meters of the forest edge.

Yi Tian noticed that even when just a meter from the woods, as long as he didn’t enter, he wouldn’t startle the brown bear.

After sorting out his thoughts, Yi Tian realized that though the brown bear had infinite strength, it wasn’t that hard to deal with.

Ninety-nine percent of intelligent beings among the Cosmic Ten Thousand Races have all three main stats below 100.

The Three Calamities are the Celestial Dao World’s first test for Trial Takers. With wisdom and courage, intelligent life can easily kill brown bears.

And the brown bear, Lightning Python, and Wild Boar aren’t as invincible as the stats make them look.

Back at camp, it was already dark, but Yi Tian still made an iron shovel. Then used the weapon platform to forge ten sharp long-handled daggers.

He returned to the woods and dug a two-meter-deep pit five meters from the forest edge. With attributes beyond ordinary, the job took just over an hour.

The pit was three meters across. Yi Tian hammered the long handles of the daggers into the mud in the trap, evenly arranged, leaving a meter of sharp blade exposed.

Then, he gathered vines and grass from the prairie to cover the mouth of the trap, topped it with a thin layer of soil.

After all that, Yi Tian hefted his blade and stepped into the woods.

”Auuuurgh...”

Sure enough, less than three seconds after reaching the forest edge, the brown bear charged with a roar.

The brown bear’s night vision wasn’t great—hard to spot things more than ten meters away. Still, the bear firmly obeyed the rules.

As the brown bear closed in, Yi Tian calmly retreated step by step.

The bear pressed relentlessly. Any other Trial Taker would be nervous by now, but Yi Tian remained composed.

When the brown bear chased out of the woods, Yi Tian circled behind the trap, then stood still.

The brown bear, affected by the Heaven and Earth Rules, grew extremely agitated. Although much stronger than any brown bear on Earth, its intelligence and alertness dropped greatly. Eyeing its ”food,” it was ready to devour without caution—following the rules regardless of consequences.

Seeing Yi Tian stand still, the brown bear lunged at him.

Its forepaws landed atop the trap and suddenly gave way.

The downward force, together with the bear’s massive weight, drove the daggers deep into its belly.

”Psssccch...”

”Awoooo...”

The sound of blades piercing flesh, and the bear’s pained howls.

Four daggers struck home.

With fierce struggles, the daggers cut in deeper and deeper, until, a minute later, the brown bear’s life finally ebbed away.

By the moonlight, Yi Tian could see the pit brimming with blood red.
