A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 903: Chapter 895: Devil’s Contract

Seven days later.

Holding the intelligence reward given by the military district, a large plate of fresh meat soup with mashed potatoes, Situ Mo cried like rain!

Of the seven in the group, only he managed to escape back, but what he faced was even more despairing and heart-wrenching.

”Where is my wife, my daughter!?”

Upon returning to the refugee camp, not seeing the figures of his wife and daughter, the bedraggled Situ Mo roared like an evil wolf. Two women staying behind brightened their eyes at the smell of the meat soup with mashed potatoes!

”Ahaha, so Mo is back. Your daughter had a high fever three days ago and passed away. We’ve mourned for a long time. She was such a lovely little girl.”

As she spoke, the woman approached Situ Mo, her weary old body trying to show some charm.

”Your wife has been starving for several days, left the day before yesterday and hasn’t returned. Maybe she followed a hunting team outside, or perhaps she went to solicit customers. Who knows? But I...”

”Get lost!”

Upon hearing the news of his daughter’s death, Situ Mo was filled with despair.

Thinking again that he couldn’t feed his wife, leaving her hungry, his apology and guilt were beyond words, naturally causing tears to fall.

...

It was already late at night, and there was no sign of his wife within the military district. Perhaps she went outside.

A frail woman venturing into the outside world...

Situ Mo sat alone on the bed, next to him a plate of meat soup with mashed potatoes that was gradually being tainted by the chaotic miasma, starting to rot, and in the darkness several pairs of eyes peered at him, enduring hunger.

Situ Mo tried to recall everything that happened in this world.

Once, the Spirit People World excelled in philosophical research above all else. During its most glorious era of civilization, according to theories from some ancient families and social organizations, there existed other unknown worlds outside the Spirit People World, and spirit people were not alone as the sole civilized beings.

If one could enter these worlds and obtain the alien civilizations and resources, spirit society would surely reach new heights!

According to this theory, some social organizations and ancient families initiated secret research and successively achieved some unrevealed results.

Once, the Situ Family, among many ancient illustrious families, similarly conducted secret research and accidentally obtained success hundreds of years ago—an indestructible leather contract, etched with spirit-type words understandable upon touching with the hand, or perhaps soul-type words.

This scroll, far beyond the civilization system of spirit society, could not possibly originate from the Spirit People World.

Its existence even overthrew certain scientific knowledge within spirit society.

Thus, this scroll became the utmost secret of the Situ Family, with generations of the family conducting relentless research and experiments according to its annotations, yet nothing happened, as if specific damage had occurred during its acquisition by the Situ Family.

Hundreds of years passed...

It was known, according to Situ Family secrets, that not only their family, but other families had obtained varying degrees of evidence proving the existence of a Different World, and some large social organizations even attempted to open channels connecting other worlds for deeper research!

Thus, nations worldwide began a race, aiming to gain the upper hand in the Fifth Revolution of this world.

Eventually, one day, a bizarre world named chaos opened on a day eternally commemorated by spirit people, transforming what was once called the Age of Civilization into the beginning of the chaotic apocalypse!

Spirit people still pass down the events of the chaotic apocalypse that day, everything that happened in the world.

Originally just a nanometer-sized rift in space-time opened that day, as if unleashing a devil’s seal, out poured high-radiation gray chaotic miasma that infinitely expanded the rift. Soon, all research personnel within the base perished, and the rift, once opened, began uncontrollably expanding infinitely.

The rolling chaotic miasma, like the devil’s minions, spread through space-time, permeated this world.

In the initial period, within this world filled with chaotic miasma, spirit society began massive extinction. Bodies littered the large cities, nights became eerily quiet, such a catastrophe had never occurred since the birth of spirit civilization, and worldwide emergency organizations attempted to save spirit civilization, gaining some initial success.

Originally the United Nations could have possibly saved spirit civilization, but the appearance of a few chaotic creatures obliterated any hope!

These chaotic creatures possessed power defying scientific theories, making even humanity’s weapons ineffective in posing fundamental threats to them. After easily annihilating the United Nations organization, they rampaged through Spirit People World for some time before gradually calming, seemingly adapting and changing this world.

Thus, amidst the apocalypse, spirit people survived barely, while the world gradually became occupied by adaptable, more evolved large creatures and biological clans, polluted and mutated by chaotic miasma.

Blub! Blub! Blub! Blub...

Situ Mo could hear his own heartbeat, realizing his wife and daughter were gone forever, despairing as everything seemed to lose its meaning.

Situ Mo harbored hatred towards this world, he must change this world!

Midnight arrived at twelve o’clock once again, when suddenly what was previously only a muffled mumble in his dream now clearly resonated in Situ Mo’s ear.

”Hehehehe, just hold a stone at midnight, turn twelve circles in front of a mirror, and you can summon my presence, to realize any wish you can afford to pay for, hehehehe...”

With a rush, Situ Mo stood up.

This time, Situ Mo felt distinctly that this voice wasn’t from his dream, but from his greatest treasure, the peculiar leather scroll at his chest!

Pale-faced, Situ Mo’s transformation caused the bodies of several people who were eyeing the meat soup with mashed potatoes to tense.

Situ Mo panted heavily, a look of suspicion and uncertainty on his face. As an educated spirit person with a normal intellect, he would never have tried anything, otherwise what would differentiate it from lunacy?

Turning circles in front of a mirror at midnight with a stone!?

But at this moment...

”Give me your mirror, and this plate of meat soup with mashed potatoes is yours.”

Situ Mo suddenly walked before a yellow-faced woman feigning sleep and said. Before she responded, a man beside her sat up abruptly, incredulously excited: ”Exchange, I’ll exchange!”

The man tossed the mirror to Situ Mo, then snatched the meat soup with mashed potatoes from Situ Mo’s hand, devouring it without care.

”Ah! You heartless man, give me some!”

Obtaining the mirror, Situ Mo left the room.

The night was extremely dangerous, with threats not only outside but also from the sky. Some vampire bats often silently take away night walkers, yet at this moment, filled with malice, Situ Mo cared little about it.

Placing the small dressing mirror in front of him, finding a stone, Situ Mo really acted like a lunatic, circling the mirror twelve times at midnight!

Situ Mo waited quietly, the surroundings extremely silent with no abnormal occurrences.

”Damn it!”

Moments later, Situ Mo, frustrated and angry, picked up the dressing mirror, fearing the meat soup with mashed potatoes had already filled someone else’s belly.

”Hehehehehe, you finally chose to summon my will, weak creature, humble existence, whatever wish you have, I can help you achieve!”

Somber laughter echoed.

In the dressing mirror, a spiral-patterned gray-white mask appeared, dual-colored eyes seemed like two ghostly flames, bizarre and mysterious, filled with unknown and ominous aura, yet simultaneously...filled with endless power, desperately desirable power!

”Are you also a being of the chaos world?”

Situ Mo asked.

”Chaos world? No, I have never heard of such a world, you may call me Oblivion Sorcerer, you only need to know, I can fulfill any wish you can afford to pay for!”

”I want to become stronger, as strong as the evolved humans! What...what do I need to pay?”

Situ Mo asked urgently, his heart heavy with pain, wondering what he had of value to the other.

”Hehehehe, I can realize your wish right away, you can become as strong as evolved humans immediately! What you need to pay is...your soul after death! Sign the contract according to my method, and your wish will be fulfilled immediately.”

In the mercury-like mirror screen, a new contract slowly emerged.

It bore stains of Green’s blood, resembling the Devil’s Contract received during Wizard Green’s apprentice period!

”Hahaha, after I’m dead, what use has my soul anyway...” (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, you are welcome to vote for recommendation, monthly tickets at Qidian (). Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users please read at m..)
