A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 681: Chapter 681: The Challenged (Part 1)

The initial ranking has concluded, marking the beginning of this session’s real Seven-Ring Holy Tower rankings battle.

Regarding the initial rankings, many Demon-Hunting Sorcerers were quite dissatisfied, as they did not achieve the results they wanted. They could only blame the abrupt end of the mission to hunt the Shadow Red Gauze Cult Organization.

The application fee for the Seven-Ring Holy Tower list is fifty Witch Essences, and no one would be willing to waste these fifty Witch Essences in vain.

In fact, aside from this reason, any Demon-Hunting Sorcerer who reaches the top one hundred of the Holy Tower list not only earns back the registration fee through rewards but gains one of the more crucial titles: the Demon Hunter’s title.

The only way to obtain the Demon Hunter’s title is to be on the Holy Tower list, where recognition and affirmation come one by one from challengers after their failures, accompanying the Demon-Hunting Sorcerer’s career, much like the renowned names of the Sorcerer’s Towers of the Stigma Sorcerers.

Of course, even those in the top one hundred on the Holy Tower list may not all gain general recognition and earn the Demon Hunter title, but often the higher the rank, the more unique the witchcraft, and the easier it is for Demon-Hunting Sorcerers to obtain it!

Achenso, the Demon-Hunting Sorcerer ranked second in this world’s Seven-Ring Holy Tower initial rankings.

Achenso felt time was dragging on too slowly, the waiting process was torturously agonizing. Two metallic spheres in his left hand were constantly sliding and rubbing, emitting a ”creak creak” metal friction sound.

Demon-Hunting Sorcerers ranked beyond one hundred in the initial rankings may challenge those in the top one hundred once a year; the top one hundred may challenge the third-ranked once a year, or any other Demon-Hunting Sorcerer ranked fourth to one hundred once; the third-ranked may challenge the second once every three consecutive wins, while the second-ranked has to win thrice against a third-ranked contender to earn the qualification to challenge the first!

Based on past Holy Tower list experiences, if the first place really holds absolute strength to firmly s

uppress the second place, the number of challenges the first place faces generally ranges from three to five.

Because the second-ranked will block a considerable number of challenges for the final challenger.

If the final challenger doesn’t have absolute strength, then it’s just waiting for another Demon-Hunting Sorcerer with absolute strength to step up and take the challenge.

Therefore, the first place title of Demon Hunter on the Holy Tower list is often set by two or three Demon-Hunting Sorcerers attempting challenges.

”Chichi, big brother, there’s no rush. The third-ranked Demon-Hunting Sorcerer is in an unstable state, wait a few days for stability and three consecutive wins, then we can collect a chance for victory, chichi chichi chichi.”

A Golden Silk Monkey squatted on Achenso’s shoulder, chichi laughing with narrowed eyes, its mouth grinning wide, looking utterly mischievous.

Achenso’s mouth turned up, his right hand casually brushing his charming little mustache.

After a full seventeen days, Achenso finally faced his first challenge!

The reason was that the third-ranked Demon-Hunting Sorcerer was constantly changing; each day, only able to be challenged once. These days, those ranked third would often win once or twice, then be defeated by other Demon-Hunting Sorcerers, restarting the challenge cycle until accumulating three times.

This was a massive World Fragment, at least several hundred times larger than Green’s World Laboratory, adequate for this level of Demon-Hunting Sorcerers to display their strength.

Just entering this World Fragment, a strange energy was infused from the sky.

”Chichi chichi, big brother, this energy protects us from fatal harm, bearing degree around thirty thousand, simultaneously connected to the ceiling’s Detection Magic Array, automatically ejecting us from this World Fragment if judged to sustain fatal injury.”

The Golden Silk Monkey analyzed systematically, seemingly possessing extraordinary judgment for energy sensations, Achenso’s soul companion.

”Thirty thousand? That’s an attack only a Stigma Sorcerer can exert.”

Achenso smiled, tossed his left hand, and the two metallic spheres suspended in mid-air writhed into two small metal creatures frolicking around, circling Achenso.

Subsequently, Achenso retrieved a Sealed Crystal Bottle, opened the lid, and large amounts of activated flesh continuously flowed out, gradually forming the image of a flying giant lizard, covered with scales, spanning over twenty meters with wings, its tail surrounded by a layer of purple-black halo.

Roar!

This Synthetic Beast roared, seeming to declare provocation; Achenso, with the Golden Silk Monkey on his shoulder and two small metal creatures, landed on its back, beginning to search for the Demon-Hunting Sorcerer challenging him.

Having considerable confidence in his strength, Achenso was only concerned about the ultimate challenger over his head in this Seven-Ring Holy Tower list, Green!

During the Fly People World, upon entering, Achenso located a Red Fly-Man Spy Impersonator with his soul companion’s help, captured the lead, then with a few Demon-Hunting Sorcerers launched a fatal strike, taking down a Shadow Red Gauze Cult branch.

This was also why Green discovered several Demon-Hunting Sorcerers suddenly catapulting to the forefront of the list.

From birth into formal Sorcery training by his family, joining the Seven-Ring Holy Tower Demon Hunting Wizards and advancing to the second level, competing for today’s Seven-Ring Holy Tower list, three thousand years had elapsed, establishing Achenso as a pillar in his family!

Similar to the Sorcerer Academy system outside the Holy Tower, the internal family system of the Holy Tower compared to the academy system often leads to more disputes, more friction with each other.

...

After half an Hourglass’s time, on the flesh-winged giant lizard, Achenso gazed at an old sorcerer a hundred meters away.

The top of the Wood Vine Magic Staff shone with a green gemstone, above which an eerie halo emerged. Three towering Tree Giants stood behind him, their elemental eyes also fixed on Achenso.

”Big brother, be careful, that halo bestows the Tree Giant with super regeneration abilities. Within the magic staff’s top green gemstone lies a sealed Life Energy Witchcraft, and the shadow under his Wizard Robe has peculiar fluctuations, seemingly some hidden Dark Sorcery, but I’m too far to perceive clearly.”

The Golden Silk Monkey murmured into Achenso’s ear.

”Hmph, understood.”

Achenso smiled, confidently taking the initiative to attack the Demon-Hunting Sorcerer challenging him, with battle explosions going off in succession, unending.

...

After a little over half an Hourglass.

With an unwilling roar, the old sorcerer challenging Achenso was judged by protective energy to have suffered fatal injuries and was ejected from the World Fragment.

”Whew...”

Achenso’s left shoulder and right leg armor incurred various degrees of damage, reverting to two small metal creature forms.

”Surprisingly discovered Little Jin’s role, quickly obliterating it with full effort and exiling it from this World Fragment; luckily, it wasn’t a real battle...(To be continued.
