A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 656: Chapter 656: Bloodthirsty Beasts?

Seven days later.

In swarms and clusters, millions of black and red striped long-tailed fish sliced through the ocean currents like a hurricane, creating a bright and vibrant spectacle in the seas of the Tidal World.

Glug glug glug glug...

In the distance, thousands of Tidal Giants swiftly propelled themselves forward with agile snake-like tails. Startled, the black and red striped long-tailed fish appeared ready to scatter under the lead fish’s guidance, only to see a gaping maw open from the seabed and lunge fiercely at them.

”Protect Master Green!”

”Drive away this Sturgeon Mammoth!”

On the Thousand-Eyed Giant Crab, Green waited quietly as a few hundred elite Tidal Giants armed themselves and drove the massive oceanic creature preying ahead away without resorting to slaughter.

The creature called the Sturgeon Mammoth by the Tidal Giants was nearly a thousand meters long—truly astounding in size, yet clumsily slow and simple-minded, relying solely on its massive body to devour small marine creatures by the swarm.

After a brief moment, the Sturgeon Mammoth was driven off, and the sea ahead returned to tranquility. The Tidal Giants once again escorted Green aboard the Thousand-Eyed Giant Crab.

Green and his entourage had experienced similar expulsions no less than ten times in recent days. The Tidal Giants treated Green as their most esteemed guest, not allowing him to suffer any harm, doting on him as if he were a helpless infant.

Sachiel Meiye whispered to Green, ”The Sturgeon Mammoth is the best mount in the Tidal World. When ancient civilization routes were first established here, Sturgeon Mammoths were used to transport Tidal Warriors long distances for patrols.”

”Oh?”

Green asked with interest, ”Establishing civilization outposts? How long ago was that?”

Sachiel Meiye thought for a moment and said, ”Hmm, about seven thousand years ago. Back then, the Tidal World was teeming with bloodthirsty beasts. It wasn’t until the great Tidal Sprite King became the ruler of the ocean, uniting all the wise marine creatures against the bloodthirsty beasts, that we achieved today’s peace.”

Pondering, Sachiel Meiye sighed, ”But in the deep sea, marine life continues to be corrupted by the Ancient Cursed Spear, transforming into bloodthirsty beasts. The Ancient Cursed Spears are often located in the depths of ancient sea ruins, where many bloodthirsty beasts wander. Despite His Majesty the Sea King and numerous Tidal Warriors’ relentless efforts over the years to collect and seal them, only a small portion of the Tidal World’s Spears have been contained. Alas...”

Despite the sigh, Sachiel Meiye covertly eyed Green, as if probing.

Um?!

Green sensitively sensed Sachiel Meiye’s intent. Corruption by the Ancient Cursed Spear?

Gradually, Green recalled the Titan Spear Fragment he acquired in the Shadow Mystery World, found within the belly of a two-headed giant snake. That serpent underwent a massive transformation, becoming ferociously aggressive due to the Titan Fragment. At the time, Green didn’t dwell too much on it.

Upon hearing Sachiel Meiye, memories resurfaced.

As for other mysterious metals Green obtained, they were all ”processed” second-hand, or even third-hand, materials.

Could it be concluded that these metal fragments indeed possessed the capability to curse and pollute low-intelligence creatures, as Sachiel Meiye mentioned, but the curse was already dispelled by previous owners?

Noticing Green’s contemplative expression upon mentioning the Ancient Cursed Spear, Sachiel Meiye cautiously inquired, ”Master Green, I’ve heard from the Sage of Wisdom that with enough Wizard Currency, one can commission any task from the Wizarding Alliance. Can the task of collecting and sealing these Ancient Cursed Spears also be commissioned?”

”Uh!?”

Green snapped back to reality, dumbfounded.

Originally, his terms in the Destiny Contract stipulated a reward of ten thousand Wizard Currency upon returning the Titan’s Spear to the Wizard World, with room for negotiation for greater costs. But this guy intended to spend resources to commission the Wizarding Alliance to clear these Titan Spears.

This...

The contrast was quite drastic.

As Green pondered whether to slightly adjust the contractual conditions, a sudden commotion erupted among the Tidal Giants, who were shouting in alarm. Sachiel Meiye gazed over and exclaimed, ”Bloodthirsty beasts!”

”Gah? What’s going on, a battle!?”

Xiao Ba, together with the Enigmatic Thousand-Headed Bird, looked over excitedly, only to see streaks of bloody light emerging from the deep sea darkness, suggesting the presence of several large creatures.

Under Sachiel Meiye’s command, the surrounding Tidal Giants began to huddle defensively. Though thousands in number, and most of them already at the First-Level Creature tier, they were all on edge, revealing their inner tension to Green.

Were the bloodthirsty beasts truly that terrifying?

As the bloody red light from the deep began to rise, revealing the creatures’ forms, Green’s expression turned to one of shock and dismay—it was the black and red striped long-tailed fish school that had just been consumed by the Sturgeon Mammoth!

However, these fish were no longer the palm-sized creatures they once were. They had surged to several meters in size, shrouded in a black-red aura, transforming from the vibrant, docile marine life into something now fierce and bloodthirsty.

Roarrrrrrrrrr!

As the sea rolled and churned with a salty stench, the giant Sturgeon Mammoth, driven off by the Tidal Giants mere moments ago, swam up from the deep, groaning in anguish. Every struggle of its colossal body stirred up turbulent waves, with the reek of blood emanating from its form.

Slish!

A more than three-meter-long black and red striped long-tailed fish pierced through the Sturgeon Mammoth’s skin, spilling crimson blood as it wriggled desperately into the mammoth’s body. Yet this fish was merely one of the thousands of its kind!

Having once devoured the black and red striped fish, the Sturgeon Mammoth had now become prey to these same fish, corrupted into bloodthirsty beasts by what Sachiel Meiye referred to as the Ancient Cursed Spear.

This entirely disrupted the natural rules of evolution!

”Master Green, while the Sturgeon Mammoth is distracting these bloodthirsty beasts, we should leave this place quickly.”

Sachiel Meiye spoke in a low tone, guiding the elite Tidal Giants around to change their course, and Green nodded, acknowledging with a grunt.

This world, once a great civilization among these realms, still held such influence even after losing ancient weapons from so many years ago. Who knows how powerful this so-called Titan civilization once was, and how it compares to today’s Wizard World?

Moreover, if it never clashed with another civilization, how did it vanish? Was it a disaster within their societal structure, or... something else? (To be continued. If you like this work, please visit to vote for it, your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users please read on m..)
