The great doors of the Imperial Council Hall slammed shut.

BOOM.

The echo rolled through the marble corridors of the Imperial Palace.

The council had ended abruptly.

Not because the debates were over.

But because something far more important had demanded the emperor’s attention.

The nobles erupted into whispers.

”What happened?”

”Was it an assassination?”

”A rebellion?”

”The Beast Kingdom?”

”No...”

”I heard the Intelligence Bureau arrived.”

The rumors spread like wildfire.

Within minutes, the entire palace buzzed with speculation.

Kael remained seated.

Unlike the others, he didn’t rush to leave.

He simply watched.

People revealed more when they believed no one was looking.

The princes left differently.

The First Prince, Cassian, walked with three generals.

Already discussing troop movements.

The Third Prince disappeared with several ministers.

Politics.

The Fourth Prince headed toward merchants.

Business.

Roland...

Didn’t leave immediately.

Instead...

He glanced toward Kael.

Only for a second.

Then smiled before walking away.

”He’s curious.”

The system appeared.

”Imperial Observation”

Current Situation:

Unknown Imperial Emergency

Recommendation:

Observe.

Do not pursue.

High-ranking individuals reveal themselves during crises.

Kael mentally nodded.

”Exactly what I planned.”

Outside the Council Chamber...

Edwin waited patiently.

”Your Highness.”

”Ready to return?”

Kael looked down the hallway.

”...Not yet.”

He had a feeling.

Something was happening.

And instincts—both from his previous life and his seven years traveling this world—had kept him alive.

Meanwhile...

Deep beneath the Imperial Palace...

Three hundred feet underground...

A massive iron door slowly opened.

Only four people in the Empire possessed keys to enter.

The Emperor.

The Grand Chancellor.

The Grand Marshal.

And...

The Master of Imperial Intelligence.

Rows of glowing crystals illuminated an enormous underground chamber.

Maps covered every wall.

Colored pins marked kingdoms.

Trade routes.

Military camps.

Spy networks.

Safe houses.

It wasn’t simply an intelligence office.

It was the eyes of the Empire.

Standing before the Emperor was an old man wearing a dark blue cloak.

No insignia.

No medals.

Nothing that identified his rank.

He didn’t need them.

Everyone knew him.

Lord Magnus Vale.

Master of Imperial Intelligence.

The man responsible for thousands of spies scattered across the continent.

He placed a sealed black scroll upon the table.

”The report has been verified three times.”

The Emperor looked at it.

”Open it.”

Magnus broke the wax seal.

His voice became solemn.

”Our agents stationed in the Kingdom of Valeria have disappeared.”

Silence.

”The last message they sent...”

He unfolded another parchment.

”...contained only four words.”

He read slowly.

’The Shadow Court lives.’

The room grew colder.

Even the Emperor’s expression hardened.

The Grand Marshal frowned.

”Impossible.”

”We exterminated them.”

”So we believed.”

Magnus continued.

”Three additional intelligence cells vanished this month.”

”No survivors.”

”No bodies.”

”No witnesses.”

”They simply...”

”...ceased to exist.”

The Emperor walked toward the massive map.

His finger stopped over several human kingdoms.

One after another.

Pins had quietly disappeared.

No reports.

No wars.

No invasions.

Only silence.

Silence frightened him more than armies.

Back above ground...

Kael walked through the palace gardens.

The afternoon breeze carried the scent of blooming roses.

Imperial Guards stood watch every few meters.

Birds sang.

Servants trimmed hedges.

Everything appeared peaceful.

Too peaceful.

”You’ve changed.”

A gentle voice came from behind him.

Kael turned.

A young woman stood beneath a flowering tree.

Elegant.

Composed.

Wearing silver-and-white royal robes.

She couldn’t have been older than twenty.

Her long black hair flowed in the wind.

Her eyes studied him carefully.

Not with hatred.

With curiosity.

”I don’t believe we’ve met.”

Kael smiled politely.

She laughed softly.

”Apparently not.”

She bowed gracefully.

”Princess Elena.”

”The Fifth Princess.”

Kael returned the gesture.

”My sister.”

”So I’ve been told.”

She smiled.

”You’ve become funnier.”

For several moments...

Neither spoke.

Instead...

They walked together through the gardens.

Elena finally broke the silence.

”You embarrassed Roland.”

”I answered a question.”

”You embarrassed him.”

Kael shrugged.

”He’ll recover.”

She laughed.

”Probably.”

After a moment...

She became serious.

”Be careful.”

Kael looked at her.

”About what?”

”Our family.”

She stopped walking.

”You’ve been gone ten years.”

”You remember them as children.”

”Now you’ve returned to adults.”

Her gaze drifted toward the palace.

”Everyone has changed.”

”Everyone wants something.”

”Some want Father’s approval.”

”Some want the throne.”

”Some merely wish to survive.”

She looked directly into Kael’s eyes.

”And some...”

”...have already chosen sides.”

The system quietly chimed.

”Character Analysis”

Princess Elena

Trustworthiness:

Unknown

Political Influence:

High

Military Influence:

Low

Popularity Among Nobility:

Very High

Recommendation:

Potential Ally

Continue Observation

Kael resisted smiling.

”Even the system doesn’t know everything.”

Good.

That meant people couldn’t simply be reduced to numbers.

Far away...

From the roof of the palace...

A hooded figure watched the two siblings.

He slowly lowered a crystal lens.

”They’ve spoken.”

Another hooded figure appeared beside him.

”Who ordered surveillance?”

The first answered quietly.

”All of them.”

”The First Prince.”

”The Third.”

”The Seventh.”

”The Ninth.”

”They all wish to know why the Tenth Prince suddenly matters.”

Elsewhere...

Inside House Roland’s estate...

A messenger bird landed on the balcony.

Roland opened the report.

He read only one sentence.

The Fifth Princess has approached Prince Kael privately.

He burned the letter.

”So...”

”Our little brother has already started making friends.”

He looked toward his spymaster.

”I want every person entering Blackwood identified.”

”Every merchant.”

”Every traveler.”

”Every mercenary.”

”If a mouse sneezes...”

”I want to know.”

The old spymaster bowed.

”As you command.”

As the sun began to set...

Kael stood at the palace gates waiting for his carriage.

Edwin noticed something.

”You’ve been quiet.”

Kael nodded.

”I’m thinking.”

”About Blackwood?”

”About everything.”

He looked back toward the palace.

”When I first returned...”

”I thought everyone hated me.”

Edwin smiled.

”They still might.”

Kael laughed.

”No...”

”They’re interested.”

”And that’s far more dangerous.”

The carriage rolled away from the capital.

High above...

Hidden among the clouds...

A massive black raven circled once.

Twice.

Then flew north.

Far beyond the Empire.

Far beyond human lands.

Toward mountains no map dared to chart.

Inside a ruined fortress buried beneath eternal snow...

The raven landed before a figure seated upon a throne of black stone.

Its master extended a pale hand.

The bird dissolved into shadows.

Memories flowed into the man’s mind.

A smile slowly spread across his face.

”So...”

”The Imperial Family has finally found its missing prince.”

His crimson eyes opened.

For only a heartbeat...

The entire fortress trembled.

”Interesting.”

He leaned forward.

”Continue watching him.”

”We may have found...”

”...our greatest obstacle.”
