The cries spread through the Imperial Capital like wildfire.

”The Lost Tenth Prince has returned!”

Merchants abandoned their stalls.

Children climbed rooftops.

Nobles rushed toward their carriages.

Even veteran soldiers who had fought on distant battlefields couldn’t hide their shock.

The prince who had disappeared ten years ago...

...was standing at the Imperial Gate.

Kael ignored the growing crowd.

His silver eyes wandered across the capital he once called home.

The streets were wider.

The towers are taller.

The walls were reinforced with enchanted white stone.

Runes glowed faintly beneath the roads, feeding mana into the city’s protective barrier.

”The capital has grown...”

His lips curled slightly.

”Father never stopped improving it.”

”Observation Confirmed.”

Imperial Capital Development: +31.8%

Current Population: 8,472,193

Military Readiness: Excellent

Kael blinked.

”...You’re scanning the entire city?”

”Correct.”

Current Imperial Evaluation: Stable.

”...Show-off.”

Behind him...

The Grand Chamberlain remained on one knee.

Tears streamed down the old man’s face.

”Your Highness...”

”I failed you.”

Kael gently shook his head.

”You protected me for seven years.”

”You don’t have to apologize.”

”But—”

”You were ordered to stay.”

The old man froze.

Only a handful of people knew that.

Kael smiled.

”I never blamed you.”

The chamberlain lowered his head again, unable to speak.

The captain of the gate guards swallowed hard.

His face had turned pale.

Moments ago...

He had nearly arrested a prince.

No...

Not just any prince.

An Imperial Prince.

The Tenth Prince.

The captain immediately dropped to one knee.

”This humble officer begs Your Highness’s forgiveness!”

One after another...

Every guard knelt.

Their armor clanged against the stone.

The crowd gasped.

Kael looked at them for a long moment.

Then...

”You were doing your duty.”

He walked past them.

”I have no reason to punish loyal soldiers.”

The captain stared at the young prince’s back.

”He didn’t even hesitate...”

”Most nobles would’ve had my head.”

Respect quietly began replacing fear.

Inside the Imperial Palace...

Silence reigned.

The palace itself resembled a city.

Golden towers pierced the clouds.

Marble bridges connected dozens of grand halls.

Thousands of servants moved with perfect discipline.

Imperial Knights stood like statues.

Yet today...

No one worked.

Everyone was staring toward the entrance.

Waiting.

At the highest point of the palace...

An enormous pair of doors slowly opened.

Inside stood the Throne Hall.

It was vast enough to fit an army.

Massive pillars carved with dragons stretched toward a ceiling painted with the history of the Empire.

At the end of the hall...

Upon a throne forged from white stone and black steel...

Sat, the emperor.

Aurelius Asterion.

The strongest ruler of mankind.

The man whose name alone ended wars.

His crimson cloak flowed over the steps like liquid blood.

His golden eyes remained fixed on the entrance.

Around him stood generals...

Archmages...

Dukes...

The leaders of the Empire.

None dared speak.

A palace knight burst through the doors before dropping to one knee.

”Your Majesty!”

”The Tenth Prince approaches.”

Silence.

Then...

”Open the hall.”

The Emperor’s voice wasn’t loud.

Yet it echoed through every corner.

The giant doors slowly opened.

Sunlight poured into the hall.

Footsteps echoed.

One.

Two.

Three.

Every noble turned.

Every general watched.

Every prince and princess standing along the walls narrowed their eyes.

Then...

A lone young man entered.

Black cloak.

Travel-worn boots.

Messy black hair.

No royal escort.

No noble attendants.

No army.

No servants.

Just...

Him.

The First Prince frowned.

”...That’s him?”

The Third Prince crossed his arms.

”He looks like a commoner.”

The Seventh Prince laughed quietly.

”So the ghost came back.”

A princess whispered...

”I thought he was dead...”

Another replied...

”I wish he had stayed that way.”

Kael heard every word.

He ignored them all.

His eyes never left the throne.

Nor the man sitting upon it.

For ten years...

He had imagined this moment.

Would his father be angry?

Disappointed?

Cold?

The emperor slowly stood.

The room immediately felt heavier.

Mana flooded the throne room.

Several young nobles struggled to breathe.

Even experienced knights instinctively lowered their heads.

This...

Was the pressure of the strongest human alive.

The Emperor descended the stairs one step at a time.

Each footstep echoed like thunder.

He stopped before Kael.

Neither spoke.

The silence lasted several heartbeats.

Then the Emperor asked one simple question.

”Are you hurt?”

The entire hall froze.

That...

Wasn’t the question anyone expected.

Kael smiled.

”No.”

Aurelius studied him carefully.

Scars covered Kael’s hands.

Tiny cuts marked his neck.

His once-soft palms had become rough from years of training.

His posture had changed.

His eyes...

We’re no longer those of a frightened child.

The Emperor nodded once.

”You’ve grown.”

Kael answered with a small grin.

”So have you.”

Several ministers nearly fainted.

”He just joked with His Majesty?”

The First Prince’s eyes widened.

”Is he insane?”

Every royal child feared their father.

Every conversation with the Emperor felt like standing before a dragon.

Yet Kael...

Spoke as though he were talking to an old friend.

For the first time...

A faint smile appeared on the emperor’s face.

”So...”

”You finally came home.”

Kael looked around the throne room.

At his brothers.

His sisters.

The nobles who once mocked him.

The ministers who had declared him a disgrace.

The palace that had once felt like a prison.

Then he met his father’s eyes again.

”I did.”

”I still have a lot to do.”

Aurelius’ gaze sharpened.

”Oh?”

Kael’s voice remained calm.

”I intend to change this empire.”

The throne room fell into stunned silence.

The Seventh Prince burst into laughter.

The Third Prince smirked.

Several dukes exchanged amused looks.

A penniless prince...

Without land.

Without soldiers.

Without even a noble faction.

Wanted to change the empire?

The Emperor, however...

Didn’t laugh.

Instead, he asked,

”How?”

Kael looked toward the enormous windows overlooking the capital.

”I traveled farther than anyone thought possible.”

”I’ve seen kingdoms built on slavery.”

”I’ve seen races that would rather die than trust a human.”

”I’ve seen cities that could feed ten million people... yet starved because of corruption.”

He slowly turned back.

”This empire is already the strongest.”

”But strength isn’t enough.”

The Emperor folded his hands behind his back.

”What do you seek?”

Kael answered without hesitation.

”A united humanity.”

”And one day...”

He looked beyond the palace, as if seeing a future no one else could.

”A united world.”

No one understood what he meant.

No one...

Except the system.

Inside Kael’s mind, a familiar blue window appeared.

Kael’s heartbeat slowed.

The countdown had begun.

No one in the throne room knew it.

The world moved one step closer to destruction.

Kael clenched his fist.

”Then I’ll build an empire strong enough to save it.”
