Ning An's Wild Wish System

If it were someone else unrelated, he naturally wouldn’t be so polite.

While pouring tea for Aunt Li, she lifted the cloth on the basket and began taking things out.

”These eggplants and tomatoes are homegrown. You’ve loved eating them since you were little. Don’t be put off by the cucumbers’ appearance; they’re full of flavor.”

”And this meat dish, your Uncle Li made it last year. He even went out of his way to buy two pork legs to make it. If he hadn’t insisted on sharing it with you, I would have argued with him.”

”By the way, last time I came, I noticed you only had mosquito coils and no mugwort. With such a big yard, you really need some. Auntie brought you some this time.”

”...”

The middle-aged woman happily introduced the special home-made products as Ning An listened obediently and responded, meanwhile Wang Ruozhi felt a bit shy in the distance.

After all, it was still early, and apart from the three of them, there was no one else in the Daoist temple.

The two of them were having a great time, and as an outsider, he didn’t feel it was right to stay.

Immediately, he stood up and said, ”Brother Sect Leader, I’ll head back now and bring my sister to visit another day.”

Ning An stopped him: ”Don’t rush off, sit for a while longer. Your dog will be fine soon.”

”Hmm?”

Hearing this, although Wang Ruozhi was puzzled, he obediently sat back down.

The live stream viewers also started letting their imaginations run wild.

”The dog will be fine soon? Could it be that the Little Daoist is also skilled in medicine?”

”Aren’t you silly, haven’t you read books? Most Daoists know a bit about medicine, and in ancient times, there was even a term ’Daoist Doctor’.”

”But I’ve been watching, and I can’t see what’s wrong with the dog; even the hospital couldn’t figure it out, so how will the master handle it?”

”Could it be that the master plans to directly zap it, and maybe the lightning arcs will stimulate its bodily functions and heal it?”

...

After calming Wang Ruozhi, Ning An helped Aunt Li clean up while laughing, saying:

”Aunt Li, the time before last when you came to burn incense, you said you were mutating into a vampire, with blood constantly flowing from your mouth, but after a hospital check, it was just gum bleeding.”

”Last time you came to burn incense, you said your house was haunted, and Grandpa turned gray. But this time, you were smart enough to take Grandpa to various doctors; they didn’t find anything wrong, but Auntie, you really shouldn’t keep buying those five-dollar-for-twenty-pairs briefs from that online shop; look how badly they fade.”

”This time you wouldn’t be saying your house is haunted again, would you?”

Ning An took the last item, sighed, and said.

”This time it’s not that, look at my cat. Usually, it’s very well-behaved, just likes to zone out, but in this video, when it’s drinking water, it jerks around, shakes its head, and its eyes seem much clearer.”

Seeing Ning An’s somewhat helpless expression, Aunt Li’s face turned even redder, but she still took out her phone from her pocket, played a video for Ning An, and said:

”I even took it to the hospital for a check-up, and the doctor said there’s nothing wrong with it. So what do you think is going on?”

Ning An didn’t respond, but Wang Ruozhi next to him laughed foolishly.

They both took their pets to the hospital for a check-up, but couldn’t find any problem.

It felt like they shared a sense of camaraderie.

Ning An carefully watched the video, and it was just as Aunt Li said.

On the screen, Aunt Li’s British Shorthair, when drinking water, looked completely clear-eyed without a hint of idiocy, and every time it licked the water, its head jerked up suddenly, its body fur stood on end.

Yet despite this, the chubby British Shorthair didn’t give up, in fact, the frequency increased, like it wouldn’t stop until it was victorious.

Could it be animal mutation brought by Spiritual Qi Revival?

Impossible!

Even if animals were to mutate, it would be the more intelligent species, like tabbies or orange cats, and definitely not this naturally dimwitted British Shorthair!

Ning An quickly dismissed the thought, shaking his head.

Seeing the change in expression on Ning An’s face, Aunt Li became more convinced of her idea, nervously insisting: ”What do you think, doesn’t it make sense? If it’s not a haunting, it couldn’t be a possession, could it?”

”Pfft~”

Ning An couldn’t hold back and burst into laughter.

A haunting seemed somewhat possible, especially now with the Spiritual Qi Revival, it wasn’t completely impossible.

But a possession?

What powerful entity would choose a cat over the exceptionally talented Human Race?

In the worst-case scenario, if they loved cats, they wouldn’t pick a dimwit unless they had incredible luck before dying!

”Aunt Li, I think you’re overthinking it. If it were possessed, its first aim would be to maintain normalcy, not to exhibit such abnormal behavior.”

Ning An consoled her, and then asked: ”Could it be a neurological issue? Since British Shorthairs are a product of inbreeding, their genes might not be stable.”

Aunt Li became anxious, patting her thigh and saying: ”Xiaoning, don’t you believe me? Auntie treats it like a son, and I specially took it to the best pet hospital in the city for a neurology check-up, and the doctor said there’s nothing wrong with it!”

Wow!

Next to her, Wang Ruozhi felt an even stronger connection. He sat up straighter.

Like him, she took a pet to the hospital for a neurology check-up, found nothing, and then came to Changchun Temple to wish.

Clearly, they were kindred spirits!

”So, Aunt Li, this time you’re here wishing for your cat to return to normal?” Ning An asked.
