”Marriage? What’s the point of getting married now, only to end up losing both money and love, and then spending years behind bars?”

...

Because this case had such a significant social impact, the court had to publicly disclose the entire sequence of events.

The suspect, Mr. Cao, 27 years old, works as a contract worker at a public institution.

Through a marriage agency, he met 24-year-old Mr. Fan, who had just graduated from junior college and was unemployed, with a gentle personality and pleasant appearance. Before long, they fell in love.

After just under two months, their relationship quickly heated up, and soon they were discussing marriage.

Mother Cao first took out her savings to purchase a commercial property in full locally.

She also agreed to add Mr. Fan’s name to the property deed, with a dowry of 200,000, to be paid in two parts: 100,000 before the engagement and 100,000 upon marriage.

Mr. Fan agreed as well, and both parties reached an agreement: to pay the remaining half of the 100,000 dowry at marriage, and to add Mr. Wu’s name to the property deed one year later.

Soon, the engagement banquet took place as scheduled, and at the banquet, Mother Cao presented the dowry and gold ring as promised.

At the same time, both parties agreed that if the man backed out, the dowry would not be returned.

If the woman backed out, the dowry had to be fully refunded.

At this point, Ning An didn’t see any major issues.

From all angles, both parties seemed to be heading towards marriage.

They’re adults, and things have progressed to this stage, there’s no reason to back out!

But the next day, things took a shocking turn.

After the engagement, the couple naturally consummated the relationship.

What followed was the man’s account: the woman demanded to go home to add her name to the property deed and to receive the remaining 100,000 dowry ahead of time. She also wanted to increase the dowry by 100,000, otherwise, she would accuse him of assaulting her!

The man immediately refused this unreasonable demand.

During the house purchase, their family was already financially strained; they were just an average family. If they had more, they would have paid the 200,000 all at once.

Given the woman’s actions, any reasonable person would naturally refuse.

Thus, facing the woman’s threat, the man just laughed it off, not taking it seriously.

But the next day, Fan’s Mother brought a recording pen, and the man’s anger clouded his judgment, the conversation content was explosive.

Throughout the process, Fan’s Mother recorded everything, which directly became evidence for the woman’s lawsuit.

On the third day, Mr. Fan’s family reported to the police that Mr. Fan had been raped by his fiancé.

This was followed by the well-known incidents among the netizens.

To this day, the man remains in detention, setting a precedent for the longest detention period in Dragon Country’s history.

Given the current evidence chain, it’s not an exaggeration to say that it overwhelmingly favors the woman and that the man could easily be convicted.

There’s no need to discuss further; with the man’s incredible admissions on the recording, even the best lawyer couldn’t save him.

After all, the police can determine if the recorder’s content contains inducements or edits.

But a case that seems so full of evidence has not yet been judged, and there is a reason for this.

That’s because the woman’s intentions were impure, colloquially known as a gold digger.

Given the case’s notoriety, the court is also at a loss, and even the case’s head Captain Zheng is troubled.

In frustration and helplessness, he decided to try his luck by offering incense at Changchun Temple.

More and more people are returning from the official website announcement to the live stream, gnashing their teeth in frustration.

”Isn’t it obvious? She’s a pure gold digger! Adding a name to the property deed and demanding dowry in advance, even increasing it, and then accusing him of forcing her!?”

”If that’s the case, shouldn’t the man accuse the woman of fraud? At worst, he can just say he’s impotent that day!”

”Damn! This is fucking ridiculous!”

”This is outright fraud; if the man doesn’t sign the reconciliation agreement and give all his assets to this gold digger, he has to go to jail? Is there no law or justice left!”

”Sigh, buddy, I study law, and I’m not joking, in this situation, while the law isn’t biased towards women, when a man is accused, he’s practically guaranteed to be convicted.”

”Damn gold digger! She completely ignored what happened in that Lingnan family annihilation case!”
