Ning An's Wild Wish System

”All you talk about is not returning the bride price and demanding compensation for emotional distress. It’s all about money, isn’t it?”

”This isn’t just a scam, it’s blatant robbery!”

”Isn’t there anyone who can do something about such a disheartening situation?”

The online viewers clenched their teeth, wishing they could devour Mr. Fan alive through the screen.

In response, the female party’s supporters kept silent and quickly muted their microphones.

Even Officer Xiaoli, who wanted to speak, opened his mouth but ultimately let out a long sigh.

Officer Xiaoli knew the whole story and sympathized with the male party, but because of his position, he wasn’t allowed to help, let alone speak on his behalf.

Although the cause of this case is relatively clear, the court can only proceed based on evidence.

The evidence that found the male party guilty included not only the recording pen provided by Fan’s Mother but also crucially a surveillance video capturing the aftermath.

The woman ran out of the marital home, shouting for help. The man chased after her, and while their conversation in the footage was unclear, the result was that the woman was dragged upstairs by the man.

Ning An thought for a moment, then turned to ask Fan’s Mother, ”Why did you bring a recording pen when you went to visit your future son-in-law’s house?”

Without hesitation, Fan’s Mother replied, ”Naturally, I was afraid he’d suddenly become violent and hurt someone. Who knows what a person like that might do? Bringing a recording pen at least ensures that when the police find my body, they’ll know who killed me.”

Flawless!

Even the viewers couldn’t help but applaud.

”Such sharp words! Afraid your future son-in-law would turn violent, why didn’t you bring two bricks with you? How did you dare to go alone, like Guan Yu attending a banquet with a single blade?”

”How many times was this line rehearsed? It’s even logically consistent.”

”No wonder the schemers succeed. Look, they not only read more than the average person but even have stronger logic. Impressive.”

A huge wave of people surged into Ning An’s broadcast room, pushing the viewer count close to a small target.

With the large number of people, all sorts of opinions appeared, including many boxers among them.

”What’s there to explain? The bride price shouldn’t be returned! Such a deviant is a major threat to society. Thanks to the sisters, for warning me in advance.”

”Exactly, it ruined what should have been a girl’s most beautiful youthful memory. Imprisonment! He must go to prison!”

”Only thirty thousand in compensation for emotional distress? Too little! At least a million, anything less is disrespectful to us and your mother!”

”You’re worried about the marriage and birth rates. Do you really think we care about these lower-class people? It’s ridiculous! One of our bags probably costs more than you earn in a year, stop embarrassing yourself here.”

”If not harshly sentenced, it will only make society worse. Life imprisonment!”

...

It took just a brief moment for the broadcast room to turn into a battleground, with all sorts of comments, and the thick barrage completely blocking the broadcast screen.

Ning An didn’t look at the broadcast room, simply shook his head, made a bow to everyone present, and said loudly, ”Fellow believers, please wait for a moment, I’ll be right back.”

He then turned his head and headed towards the woodshed.

He had almost concluded by now that this was indeed a scheme by the female party, as the life charts of the woman’s family were almost entirely dark gray.

But it couldn’t be entirely certain how much of this dark gray was due to this incident, and to be sure, it needed to be verified one way or another.

For example, the Ghost-Collecting Incense in the woodshed, invisible and colorless to the average person, could automatically discern if an incense burner’s wish was virtuous or corrupt.

A virtuous wish would increase one’s fortune, while a corrupt one would decrease it. The system’s judgment ensures fairness.

...

Meanwhile, it was naturally Captain Zheng in charge of maintaining order on site.

Although both parties were somewhat restrained, they continued arguing, with shocking comments coming one after another.

Seeing the increasingly tense atmosphere, Captain Zheng had no choice but to forcibly focus everyone’s attention on him first.

He turned to Fan’s Mother and said solemnly, ”Think not only for yourself, but also for your daughter!”

”With this big fuss you’re causing, do you think your daughter will still get married in the future?”

Before anyone could respond, he turned to Mother Cao and sighed, ”This matter, as I explained to you previously, relies on evidence...”

”Evidence? Where’s the evidence?”

The interruption came before Captain Zheng could finish his sentence, as someone from the crowd shouted.

Then a young man stepped forward, not looking very old, but showing no signs of fear in his speech:

”May I ask, Captain Zheng, when did the Dragon Country start using post-event evidence to deduce intentions at the time of the incident, then issuing a guilty verdict?”

”Just based on the woman’s verbal account and post-event evidence, the dragging behavior in the footage, the burned curtain traces after the fact, and the bruises on the woman’s body, can you immediately conclude the case?”

”Even those who don’t understand the law can see this is just post-event speculation! If the footage had shown events before, like the man dragging the woman into the marital room instead of them walking together intimately, would there still be such public outrage now?”

”Captain Zheng, you are the professional here. We just want to know one answer; even if this man did force something, isn’t the current evidence insufficient? Shouldn’t reasonable doubt result in acquittal?”
