Ning An's Wild Wish System

The tone was resounding and powerful.

Everyone’s gaze was fixed on Captain Zheng, and the atmosphere at the scene was completely frozen.

These few sentences expressed everyone’s thoughts, voicing everyone’s inner feelings.

As the young man said, what everyone feared was not marriage, but the shameless right to retract during the process and settle accounts afterward.

When this right is granted, the results affect not just the direction of the case, but also lead to the collapse of social morals and order.

”Captain Zheng, say something.”

”Yes, please tell us, is it really like that?”

”Exactly...”

Public opinion was like a tide, words like waves, madly crashing towards Captain Zheng.

Captain Zheng looked at the surrounding crowd, his face flushed red, but he clenched his teeth tightly and remained silent.

It’s not that he doesn’t want to speak, but what can he say?

Even the high-ranking officials sitting in offices were avoiding answering such tricky questions. How could a mere captain of the criminal police have the qualifications to respond?

No matter how he answers, one side will be extremely dissatisfied, and with a malicious edit, his career would be over.

He feels he’s not old yet, still wants to work a few more years, solve a few more cases, and catch a few more suspects for society.

”Thud! Thud! Thud!”

Cold sweat poured from Captain Zheng as his heart raced, and he forced out a smile: ”This young man, you’re quite concerned about social issues, but you might not be fully aware of the facts...”

”Captain Zheng, I think you misunderstand. I might know this case even better than you.”

The young man smiled slightly, raised his hand, and removed the wig from his head, revealing a head of thinning hair.

The young man, who seemed just over twenty, now surprisingly appeared to be nearing forty.

At the same time, he pinched his throat, coughed lightly, and spat something out. Upon hearing his voice again, there was no hint of a young man’s tone.

It was assuredly a middle-aged man!

Captain Zheng looked at him, nearly popping his eyes out: ”Deng Lv, you...”

”Necessary for work, a small trick, nothing worth mentioning.”

With the wig in hand, Deng Lv maintained a calm expression, showing no sign of embarrassment.

But he wasn’t anxious, while Captain Zheng was indeed agitated.

He knew exactly why Deng Lv chose to appear at this juncture!

This case, even with a slight connection, could spark a heated debate online. So when he saw both parties of the case, he intended to plea for Ning An, quickly hoping both parties would leave after offering incense.

After all, the streaming popularity of Changchun Temple was too terrifying. Letting them linger was equally challenging for his career.

And now the man’s lawyer popped out, simply because he saw the immense attention garnered by Changchun Temple’s streaming room and wanted to direct society to focus on the case again.

The higher-ups had been keeping a cold stance towards this case all along.

As a mere deputy captain, how could he have the credentials to crash into this situation!

While Captain Zheng was storming with thoughts, Deng Lv smiled and addressed the crowd:

”Hello everyone, I am the man’s lawyer, you can call me Deng Lv.”

”As I mentioned earlier, everyone has many doubts about this case, and they are my doubts as well.”

Watching most of the crowd show puzzled expressions, Deng Lv explained with a wry smile:

”During the first trial, there was a sudden notice to start early, and I was far from the courthouse at the time, unable to make it in time.”

Wow!

Captain Zheng’s face turned green, while the eyes of the onlooking crowd brightened.

Immediately someone excitedly said, ”Deng Lv, you can’t say it’s like this, the court’s handling of this case has completely sided with the woman.”

As the flashlights flickered, the speaker turned out to be a reporter.

”Wow! I was wondering why the official notices seemed strange, because the man’s side couldn’t even get the lawyer in?”

”That’s quite disgusting, what’s the point of barring the lawyer from entering?”

The atmosphere at the scene was suddenly stirred, and Deng Lv glanced contentedly at the streaming room where the popularity was rapidly soaring.

”As everyone knows, there is proof my client is being framed, and with a complete lack of primary direct evidence, how did they decide to take criminal enforcement measures against the man?”

”And up until now, he’s been detained for half a year. According to the law on forced intercourse, without being caught in the act or immediate reporting, if there is no direct evidence, how can the charge stand?”

Instantly, someone in the crowd raised a doubt: ”Deng Lv, what about the surveillance video, that should explain things, right?”

”Surveillance and similar evidence are obtained after the fact, and can be manipulated. The simplest tactic is, if the post-event goal isn’t achieved, deliberately provoke the other party into an aggressive behavior, creating a false appearance of coercion. It’s easy to manipulate.” Deng Lv replied seriously with a stern expression:

”We can’t simply convict for forced intercourse just based on the accusations from the woman. After the relations happened, the report was made days later. Who knows what happened in between, but it likely wasn’t as the woman claimed.”

Another person questioned: ”If this is wrong, why is everyone willing to just let it go?”

For this question, Deng Lv chose to remain silent, pivoting to another question:

”The core issue of this case is that my client violated the woman’s will, but the woman’s will should be an objective thing—a behavior manifesting in him violating it?”

”And it was violating this kind of forced will? Not to mention, within this case, violating the woman’s will meant violating her extortionate intent.”

Not only at the scene, but the viewers in the streaming room burst into laughter.

”This lawyer indeed has some skill, no wonder they advanced the trial, fearing his presence might alter the outcome.”

”Exactly, did he violate the woman’s will, or her extortionate will?”

”...”

Seeing the crowd discussing fervently, Deng Lv’s face slightly lifted into a smile, continuing his intense and impassioned speech:

”Setting aside that the woman promised a letter of forgiveness on the condition of payment, it’s essentially extortion, why not pursue this crime?”

”While pursuing completely legitimate sexual activities within a couple’s relationship! I believe this amounts to classic extortion!”

”According to our country’s criminal law, extortion is defined as using threats to someone’s person or reputation to extort property with the intent of unlawful possession.”

”This intended mother-in-law, for the dowry and adding a name to the house—which essentially halves the property—without hesitation, took her prospective son-in-law to court, and this crime is entirely legitimate!”

The scene suddenly fell silent.

No wonder they didn’t let him present, it was all for this!

Everyone’s heart was overwhelmed, and it was at this moment that Ning An stepped forward with Ghost-Collecting Incense, jokingly said: ”Is everyone so leisurely standing around doing nothing here?”

With Ning An’s words, the deadlock was immediately broken.

The frozen atmosphere began to thaw, and many bystanders turned their gaze towards him while Captain Zheng took advantage of the moment to wipe the sweat-soaked vest off his back.

Ning An didn’t pay much attention to what had just happened, only breaking the deadlock for Captain Zheng, and then he looked slightly surprised in the direction of the Incense Burner.

The Ghost-Collecting Incense, initially in his hand, straightened suddenly and was directly inserted into the Incense Burner.

Its stiffness could no longer be described as firm, using that word would be an understatement to insult the current state of Ghost-Collecting Incense!

Even the last time with Aluf, after all his wicked deeds, Ghost-Collecting Incense wasn’t this enthusiastic.

”This incense could stand so firm? It might send their whole family away.” Ning An thought to himself, somewhat astonished, but showed no expression on his face.

To ordinary people, the young Daoist was merely looking at the Incense Burner without any abnormality.

Ning An pondered for two seconds before asking Fan’s Mother again: ”Devotee, are you still insisting on not refunding the dowry, but demanding thirty thousand for emotional damages before offering incense?”

”Hmm.” Fan’s Mother smugly glanced at the crestfallen Mother Cao and grinned: ”I’m giving them only one day to prepare, anything beyond that they won’t see our forgiveness letter, and their son will carry the stain forever!”

Upon hearing these words, Mother Cao, though trembling with anger, tightly clenched her fists without uttering another harsh word.

As the streaming room’s popularity soared higher, the number of viewers suddenly broken a small target.

Watching Fan’s Mother’s arrogance, everyone felt indignant inside.

”The state needs to intervene quickly, at this rate, who dares get married anymore?”

”I heard if prosecuted under forced intercourse, the minimum sentence would be three years!”

”The world finally turned into a shape I don’t recognize, being tricked of all savings and facing three years in prison, impressive.”

”One sentence: inviting Mr. to die for peace across ages.”
