Ning An's Wild Wish System

In ancient times, Feng Shui Geomancy was almost inseparable from the Daoist Sect.

And the skill of Feng Shui Geomancy was most outstanding in Maoshan Sect’s Lower Mao.

The most excellent Feng Shui Masters in ancient times actually had a respectful title—Earth Master!

An old saying goes: First-class Earth Masters observe celestial patterns, second-class Wind Masters search for water mouths, and third-class Masters roam the earth.

In folktales, one often hears of wandering vagabond sorcerers, but most of them were actually ordinary Feng Shui Masters.

Those who could master the art of star-gazing and aura-observing geomancy all served in the Astronomical Bureau, working for the emperor.

Ye Yunqing initially studied under the Outer Elixir Sect before transferring to Maoshan. However, his extraordinary talent allowed him to be exceptionally accepted by Maoshan, with considerable proficiency in Feng Shui.

At this moment, he retrieved a compass from his pouch. As the needle sank and spun, the convoy followed the compass needle’s direction.

Simultaneously, he didn’t forget to explain to someone beside him:

”We need to find a place heavy with Yin energy, which is heavier compared to normal air. When the needle sinks, it’s called ’descending needle’; this indicates concentrated Yin energy that makes living here unsuitable.

When the needle keeps turning, it’s called ’spinning needle’; this suggests lingering resentments, making living here harmful! Just follow these two points, and you’ll definitely find it!”

This operation was of great importance to those above, with even Wang Dahai personally overseeing it.

Upon hearing Ye Yunqing’s words, he gave a soft ”hmm” and closed his eyes to feign sleep.

The driver upfront kept changing directions according to the compass needle, though he didn’t speak, he felt the Daoist was spouting nonsense.

He was a soldier, and not just him; the two military trucks following had some of the army’s top soldiers!

After the police failed the blockade the day before yesterday, the military took over the capture task, leaving only the police responsible for perimeter alerts.

Though no one openly complained, everyone felt this task was absurd yet dutifully followed orders.

What a farce!

All were military elites, excelling in battlefield operations, yet now tasked with catching an eerie creature?

All were educated through mandatory schooling—what kind of eerie creature could it be?

If one truly existed, it must mean the firepower isn’t strong enough!

Even if it’s a mass grave, throwing a few more missiles would drive away any spirit or ghost in disgrace.

...

Around seven o’clock, the sun fully emerged from the clouds, and the convoy arrived deep into the mountains.

The compass needle spun faster and faster, Ye Yunqing frowned, his face solemn.

At a glance, the place was surrounded by mountains and embraced by waters, an excellent Feng Shui treasure land.

Earlier on the way here, he observed too. A mountain backed the southeast while a river meanderingly crossed the northwest, indeed, good Feng Shui.

But now, this Feng Shui treasure land was overwhelmed by Yin energy; clearly, something else was set here, substantially interfering with the compass, making further location difficult.

When he showed distress and looked at Wang Dahai, Lin Nanbei’s lazy voice came from the pickup behind:

”Places favored by zombies are usually barren, grasses and trees are part of the five elements as ’Yi Wood,’ ’Yi Wood’ resides in different palaces, the east position is two, head that way.”

Upon hearing a fellow practitioner, Ye Yunqing wasn’t surprised but somewhat relieved.

Wang Dahai opened his eyes and calmly said, ”Go in the direction he suggests.”

Lin Nanbei pointed to a dense thicket without even a path for the vehicle to pass through.

Without much hesitation, leaving a few to look after the cars, the others fully armed headed into the woods.

Overhead, the forest was dense and shady, with sunlight broken into fine rays by the branches overhead, causing people to quickly lose their sense of direction in such an environment.

”Lin Nanbei, what’s the next move?”

Everyone looked at Lin Nanbei; he confidently nodded, took out a special compass from his bag, glanced at it, and felt uneasy.

The compass needle spun irregularly; this place had a magnetic field, and it was strong enough to interfere with his custom compass needle.

Lin Nanbei cleared his throat and put away the compass.

”No need for the compass; I’ve got a better method.”

Under everyone’s expectant gaze, he directly took out his phone and opened the satellite map.

Using the map captured by satellites above, he zoomed in to search for suspicious areas.

Everyone was speechless, even Lin Jingye beside him, whose face flushed red and couldn’t help but inch away.

After confirming a few approximate locations, Wang Dahai divided the two squads he brought into four groups to search one by one.

One group remained on guard while the other three searched around, looking for any traces, especially noticeable mounds!

Although the people present were left speechless, they complied with orders, fanning out, and with over a dozen people spreading out, the area would be thoroughly searched quickly.

The invited Daoist masters didn’t idle either; although without aid from items like the compass, they were much sharper in finding places heavy with Yin energy than ordinary people.

”Here, dig here and take a look.”

”Come, dig with a shovel here and see.”

”Hey, hey, hey, buddy, be careful; really angering that thing could have grave consequences.”

The commanded ones cursed silently but didn’t stop, occasionally wiping sweat from their hands.

While they searched, they were constantly beckoned by these Daoists to dig at places that seemed odd to them.

”Report, no traces in this direction, no traces.”

”Report, none found here either!”

”None here as well...”

Wang Dahai was somewhat anxious but didn’t show it.

Besides, this matter couldn’t be rushed; seeking human traces essentially meant looking for human waste, footprints, and places incongruent with the environment.

If the other party intentionally covered them up, finding clues in the wild was not easy.

”Received, received, maintain vigilance, proceed to the next target.”

...

Driving a rideshare, Ning An and Lin Yanke followed distantly behind the military vehicles, quickly reaching the outskirts.

The area gradually became sparsely populated, with roadsides dominated by farmland and forests. Continuing forward, the looming dark shadow was rapidly approaching the mountain range.

Yet before reaching the mountain entrance, the two were stopped by roadblocks, then a middle-aged policeman approached sternly, ”Comrades, the mountain is closed today; no passage is allowed. Please cooperate with our work and turn around!”

”Huh? We finally planned a trip out for some wilderness activities, but today seems really unlucky.” Lin Yanke displayed a look of regret, then casually asked:

”Officer, how about tomorrow? Can we go in tomorrow?”

The middle-aged policeman still maintained a serious demeanor, ”I don’t know; if there’s any update, we’ll post it on our official account. Follow our account to stay informed.”

”Alright, thank you, Officer.”

After thanking the policeman, Ning An drove the car to a secluded spot and then shrugged at Lin Yanke, ”No choice, it seems we must take the side path into the mountains.”

Lin Yanke was also frustrated, ”It appears the mountain is full of government personnel.”

Ning An nodded, ”We have to be extra cautious to avoid encounters and unnecessary explanations.”

”Right!” Lin Yanke magically pulled out two masks from her handbag and handed one to Ning An, ”Here you go.”

”What’s this?”

”Dummy, if you run into government people, do you want them seeing your face clearly?”

Lin Yanke put on the clown mask, concealing her features behind it, leaving only her eyes exposed.

Under the Grey Wolf mask paired with a well-figured female body, it had a humorous effect.

”Are you... sure about this?” Ning An commented on the childish-looking mask in his hand, somewhat sarcastically.

”Hurry up, I specifically picked a handsome one for you, so be grateful!” she snapped with raised eyebrows.

”Alright.”

With that, Ning An put on the mask, revealing a bright smiling Happy Sheep face.

Happy Sheep and Grey Wolf...

No problem at all, mate!
